transfer
Allow us to transfer funds between linked accounts using products like Plaid. Save so much time!
1 voteHi Jessasm, just to make sure I understand your idea here correctly, are you saying you'd like to be able to physically transfer funds between your bank accounts from within Xero?

Bank Rec - Use contact bank details when matching transactions
Reconciling needs to cross reference the bank details of the customer as well as the amount paid. One of the biggest admin errors we face is when we auto match the wrong statement line to invoice. If the software was looking for the bank details too this would help avoid mis match.
1 voteAppreciate the additional detail you shared, and how matching with the ability to base this on contact bank details would be useful to you, Julia.
I'll shift your idea to Gaining support so we can get a better sense of interest in this idea. Feel free to share with any colleagues that'd find this useful too!

Reconciliation | Find & Match - Default to show spent/received items
In Find and Find and Match function in Bank Reconciliation
Set the "Show spent items" and "Show receive items" to default to what was last used, OR to be always on.
2 votesThanks for your feedback, Andrew. Appreciate especially with the new feature for credit notes why you'd like to have this default set.
We'll start to feel out the interest of this here and I'll make sure to let you know here if there are any plans for changing the behaviour of this check box.

Bank Feeds | Check Dates - Ability for Xero to autopopulate the check with date and payee
Currently, a check written is downloaded in the feed with the date the check cleared and no payee name. It would be fantastic if AI could read the check, enter the payee and the date the check was actually written rather than the date it cleared. That would save the user from having to look up the check on the bank website and manually editing it so that the bank reconciliation is actually correct.
2 votesThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Idea’s David. We can appreciate the need for AI to read the details such as payee and date when the check was written. We’ll start to track support in your idea from the community, here.
Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

Chart of Accounts - Rename Archived Accounts Without Restoring
Rename Archived Accounts in COA.
When reorganising a chart of accounts and reporting we often need to differentiate between the old way of doing things and the new. Or we archive a lot of 'Accountant Only' codes.
Since we can't filter out the archived codes - It would be great NOT to have to 'restore' them to rename to fit in with how we do things now.
1 voteHi Kali, thanks for raising this idea. We understand the ask to update details on archived accounts directly, such as account names or codes, without needing to temporarily restore them first.
We've updated this idea to Gaining Support. We encourage the community to vote on this idea if you’d find this Chart of Accounts improvement useful.

JAX | Access Larger Dataset and Capability
Our company is a BIG proponent of the use of AI technologies. But because we don't currently integrate with Xero directly with our AI tool, I was hoping to use JAX to retrieve the information that we need.
Unfortunately JAX has a very limited subset of info it can retrieve making the results not very useful. It would be more helpful if JAX could have more lines of information or more results back from whatever query it did in the back end, so that I can get the data out on my side.
My example is that I asked JAX…
1 voteHi Sean, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand tat giving JAX access to a larger dataset and support deeper historical analysis could improve function.
The idea is to expand JAX’s data access and processing capabilities, allowing users to ask broader questions across more historical data and gain deeper insights without needing to manually combine data in Xero.
We encourage the community to share some more use cases and how JAX could be improved.

Find & Match - Show subtotal of selected transactions(Find & match section 1)
Hi When I have one payment that was done for a lot of suppliers, you can match the suppliers to the payment. I would like to have a sub total of selected transactions at number 1. Find & select matching transactions
1 voteThanks for your feedback, appreciate how a subtotal of just the selected transactions in section 1 may differ to the full subtotal of transactions shown in section 3.
We'll get a broader sense of interest from your idea here. It's not something we have plans around at present but we'll share if there's any change.

Bank Rules - Increase the maximum number of conditions per rule
There's currently a max number of conditions that can be added to one bank rule of, I think, 16.
This is very limiting, particularly for some of our rules. For example:
A bank rule that adds location tracking data, for example, EU, UK, USA, Rest of the World, based on the payment card country code. There are more codes than I can list in the conditions for some of the rules.
A bank rule that adds location tracking data, but is based on the customer's email address because the payment card country code isn't pulled through for this particular type…

Bank Rules | Contact details - add purchase defaults on the fly
Thank you for adding these fields when adding a contact on the fly. Can you please also add in the field for the expense acct that this contact should normally be coded to. Right now I have to save the contact, finish my bank rules, then go pull up contacts, find the vendor then go to the bottom and give it the gl number.
1 voteGreat to hear your flow of work in your idea here, Emelie - Can see how being able to add this detail on the fly when creating your bank rules could save you time.
This isn't something we have planned just yet but will get a gauge of interest from your idea and be sure to share if there are any updates for this, here.

Find and Recode - Recode Transaction window option to always show TrackingOption1&2 fields
Recode Transaction window (for recode Source Transactions) needs an option to show TrackingOption1 & TrackingOption2 fields by default so users don't have to click +Add every time
1 vote💥 Thanks so much for sharing this idea — we can see how having TrackingOption1 and TrackingOption2 show by default in the Recode Transaction window could make Find & Recode quicker and easier to use.
We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better gauge interest and understand how helpful this change would be for customers using this feature.
If this is something others would also like to see, we’d really encourage them to add their vote and share how they’d use it. That kind of feedback helps give us a clearer picture of the impact and demand for the idea.
We’ll keep an eye on the support it receives and share any updates here as things progress.

Bank Statement Tab Search – Show Account Transactions in Results
I’d like to suggest a small but valuable feature update:
When we search for a bank memo, description, or reference in bank transactions or account transactions (e.g., “UberBV”), Xero does return the transactions, but the categorized account (account head) is not visible in the search results.
In MYOB, when performing the same search, the results also show the categorized account, which helps identify how transactions were coded in the past. This saves time and ensures consistency during reconciliations.
Feature Request:
Please consider updating Xero so that when searching transactions (by memo, description, or reference), the categorized account column also displays…
6 votesHi Abrar, thanks for the thoughtful suggestion and the screenshots showing the account code used when reconciling the bank statement lines. We’ve shared your feedback with the team so they can consider this in future improvements. In the meantime, it’d be great to hear from others who’d benefit—please add your vote and any specific scenarios where this would save time in your workflow. In the meantime as a short-term workaround, run the Account Transactions report for the Bank account and add the Related account column to see where each transaction was coded ✨

Bank Feed - Update wording when selecting a bank account
When adding a new bank account the client needs to tick 'don't select' on all the other accounts which can be unsettling if these accounts already have bank feeds. There must be better wording for this, or remove the need to tick 'don't select'.
2 votesHi Saara, we can see how updates to the labels or instructions in the bank feed connection flow could help make setup clearer and reduce the chance of selecting the wrong account.
We'll continue tracking interest and share the feedback with our product teams.

Lock date - Separate lock dates for sales Tax and accounting period
Separation between Sales Tax/VAT/GST lock date and accounting period lock date.
It would save a significant amount of time if VAT periods in Xero could have a separate lock date than the accounting period lock date. For instance, an invoice/bank transaction is still outstanding when filing a VAT return, and the VAT return date could be locked so once this outstanding transaction is completed at a later date, it would automatically appear on the next VAT return. This should be separated from the accounting period lock dates, as you still want to account for that transaction in it's relevant period,…26 votesHi everyone, thanks for all your votes and comments on this idea. Just a quick update to let you know that this request is still open for voting and comments from the community.
We're keeping an eye on the demand for this idea here, and will be sure to post another update if changes are made in this area.

Bank Reconciliation - Custom templates/defaults for reconciliation adjustments
It would be so time-saving to allow us to create default shortcut options for the reconciliation adjustment instead of only being able to choose "Bank Fee" or "Minor Adjustment". My "Bank Fee" is always the same information for all field (except for the amount), so why can't I just select a button that I can name something like "MY Bank Fee Default" and it fills in the fields automatically and takes me directly to the amount field?! This would save people HOURS of time every month when reconciling.
3 votesHi there,
Thank you for this suggestion!
I’ve assessed your idea and moved it to Gaining Support. Being able to create custom adjustment shortcuts would be a massive win for efficiency, especially for practices or businesses dealing with high volumes of bank transactions.
I've also updated the title to Bank Reconciliation - Custom templates/defaults for reconciliation adjustments to help others with the same pain point find and support this.
A quick tip for now: If your bank fees always come from the same bank account or have a consistent description on your bank statement, you might be able to automate this entirely using Bank Rules.
By setting up a "Spend Money" bank rule, Xero can automatically suggest the account, description, and tax rate the moment the bank statement line hits your screen, meaning you wouldn't even need to click the Adjustment button!
We’ll keep you posted on any…

Bank Statement - Ability to import pdf (UK)
Ability to import a PDF statement directly to xero instead of having to spend a fortune on PDF to CSV software like Dext for example
1 voteHi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on being able to import PDF bank statements directly into Xero in the UK.
We can see how this would make it easier to get bank data into Xero without needing third-party conversion tools.
Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!
Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

Bank Reconciliation - Search | Enable mid-string matching
Current behaviour:
When reconciling a transfer and searching for a bank account, the dropdown search only works if you enter text from the very start of the account name. For example, if I have an account called "Emerge COGS", I can only find it by typing "Emerge" - searching for "COGS" returns no results and causes the dropdown to glitch.
The inconsistency:
This search behaviour is inconsistent with other areas of Xero. When making a payment from a bill, the account search works with mid-string matching - searching for "COGS" correctly brings up "Emerge COGS". This creates confusion as users…2 votesThanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you Dan. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and providing a detailed example. We'll open this idea up to the community to gain more support. You can share this with your colleagues who might benefit from this as well. Cheers.

Account transactions - Add Next and Previous navigation buttons within transaction views
When reconciling, I enter each transaction and ensure it is taxed correctly. At present I have to return to the main account transaction list, find my next transaction and enter that transaction each time.
It would be very handy to have a click through to the next transaction or click previous transaction buttons when viewing a specific transaction.
1 voteHi Leigh, thanks for your suggestion.
We understand you’re looking for a quicker way to move between transaction details, such as having next and previous navigation options when reviewing entries.
Having smoother navigation between transactions could make reviewing and correcting records more efficient.
We’ll continue to track feedback and interest from the community for this idea. In the meantime, you can open a specific transaction in a new tab for reviewing while keeping the list open in the original tab.

Invoicing - EIS integration in The Philippines
Hopefully someone at Xero reads this.
The Philippines is a market that Xero should really focus on.
The BIR is now introducing the EIS program which leans perfectly to Xero integration, not a middle man. Companies are running everywhere to Netsuite and SAP as Xero aren't across what is happening.
Whilst currently limited to larger entities the roadmaps seem to indicate that the business size for compliance will get smaller over time.
If XERO can organise the bank feeds from the top banks and integrate with BIR, your business in The Philippines will grow much much larger - https://eis-cert.bir.gov.ph/#/main

Bank Feed to Japanese Bank (Rakuten Bank)
It would be great if Xero can support Japanese banks in the Bank Feed. Been looking for any API to help me connect the Rakuten Bank to Xero but I found nothing.

Bank Reconciliation - Automatic coding of transfers between bank accounts
It would be great if Xero could automatically do the transfer between Xero bank accounts.
This is our most time consuming and often error-prone coding in Xero when it should be a simple fix. Many clients still battle with this.22 votes
