  2. When adding a Director to payroll midway through the year the status can only be set to 'Annual'
It would be great if we were able to choose either 'Annual' or 'Alternative' Setting a new director on 'Annual' in January has affected their NI contributions. On Annual the NI does seem to vary but sort its self out by the end of the tax year. It just means paying more NI for a period of time.

  3. "As an employee submitting my expenses I don't want to be left out of pocket because Xero Expenses doesn't allow me to set the exchange rate I was charged by my bank."

Xero Expenses uses XE.com exchange rates for foreign currency exchange rates and it's not possible to override/change this.

It should be possible for the employee, or approver, to manually set the foreign and domestic currency amounts, or set the exchange rate itself.

  4. I am not happy with the treatment of dishonoured/reversed payments on Xero when it comes to debtors/customers (and similarly creditors/suppliers) (see attached support screenshot).

Dishonoured payments must be processed via the accounts receivable and payable channels as is the custom on any other accounting package.

The customer's records and statements must reflect when payments were dishonoured (true refection) and it should not be handled outside of the customer's module as Xero is currently doing (by deleting the original payment from the customer and allocating it a GL account and then allocating the dishonoured reversal to the same GL account).

    The…

  5. Would be great if you could link cirectly to the live stock levels inside Shopify so if I generate an invoice and sale from Xero then the stock level reduces and adjust accordingly. There does not seem to be functionality that does this currently.

  6. I attended the 2023 Q2 QPU and I like that for placeholders you can add a number in the square brackets to modify the month placeholder (this was in repeating journals - is it the same in other repeating features, like Invoices/Bills?). I also wonder if you can modify the year placeholder in the same way.

But I'd like also to be able to post repeating journals with a placeholder that uses a number-format for month (eg, 04 instead of April). Alternatively or additionally, it would be nice to be able to abbreviate the month to just the first 3…

  7. Produce a report/statement in Xero or Xero Payroll which would inform my clients on how much to pay to HMRC, which HMRC account/sort code to use, what reference to use, and what date it should be at HMRC by.... available for each time a Payroll is run.

  9. The sort feature in Cash Coding is great, however, not all bank feeds are. I often find I need to remove all the excess data imported in the bank feed before I can sort by payee.
It would be really useful if the changes I make in Cash Coding could be saved so I can work through a page then save.
I know, in a perfect world it would all be imported through Hub Doc, and clients wouldn't put personal transactions through the business or mix receipts from more than one of their businesses. Until we reach that stage the…

  10. Within Products and Services when items are set up that aren't invoiceable costs, and therefore the "Sell" box unticked, when they are allocated as to Projects these items don't show as "Non-Chargeable" costs as they should do, they show as "% Mark-up" costs. Therefore, when going to "Invoice Tasks and Expenses", they appear in the list of potentially invoiceable items.

Therefore, each expense item has to be edited in each individual project and switch it from "% Mark-up" to "Non-Chargeable. Such costs should automatically come through as "Non-Chargeable".

Also, "Find and Recode" feature doesn't recode the Product and Services type…

  12. New bank rec reports are based on the start of the month to the current date as a default. The old bank rec report just had an end date. Would like a fast way to move end date field and not have to also alter the start date.

Hey community! As a few of you have rightly pointed out, the previously posted workaround isn’t suitable if your end date is prior to your start date. In this case, you will have to update both start and end fields.

Thank you to everyone that flagged that, and apologies for the confusion.

Because the the Bank Reconciliation summary lives in the Bank Reconciliation reporting pack, the date picker available is the same as the other bank reports (Bank Statement and Statement Exceptions).

Understand that some users would prefer an ‘as-at’ date instead, similar to the older report. In the meantime, you can select the same date in both fields to achieve this.

As that doesn't quite solve this for some users, we're leaving this idea open to continue to collect and share your feedback with our product team.

  13. Presently, to create a draft bill in Xero from a bill that has been received in the csv format, the csv bill has to be imported manually. It would be easier to be able to email the csv bill to the unique bills email address and have a draft bill created in Xero.

Hi team, while not a direct solve for CSV file types as asked for here, I wanted to quickly share on the recent uploads feature we've released in bills.

You can now simply select your files or drag & drop them, and Xero will automatically create draft bills with key details pre-filled and the original document attached ready for approval. 🙂

We don't have any direct plans on expanding our supported file types at this time, but we'll continue to track the interest ans share if there are any changes planned for this. Thanks

  14. The "Explorer" tab in the employee expenses section needs an option to set the date range.
At the moment it is pretty useless as I cant even see what date range it covers - presumably back to when we started using expenses mid way through the year 3 years ago?
It is not meaningful to compare spend by different employees, if I cant do it by month or quarter, when some employees have been using expenses for much longer than others.
An option to compare by employee for selected accounts, and to export to pdf/xls would also be really useful.

We often search the amount of spend money or bill in universal search but we cannot find the unreconciled transaction through the Universal Search.

    Kindly do something for this..

  17. Add the option for multi currency to other subscription types.

Currently the only way to use multi-currency is to upgrade to the Xero Established/Premium or Ultimate pricing plan. For a sole trader that doesn't need all the extra features of those plans, that is a minimum price increase of over double the starter plan.

Hi everyone, as part of the work we're doing here, we're looking to engage some small businesses as well as accountants and bookkeepers who use our Payroll functionality to try out our new prototypes and give us feedback.

We'd look to set up a video call over the next 3 weeks which'll take about 60 minutes. If you'd be interested in taking part, please apply by using this form. 😊 Thanks

  19. Suggestions to improve the reporting of GST Audit Beta

    1. Allow us to select which Tax Codes to display in report (default All)

    2. Show the tax code in each row rather than as a report subheader. Useful when there are lots of records for some tax codes

    3. I noticed that we can select Reference field for the columns, but not Invoice No. If the entry's Ref field is blank, the report shows the Invoice No. So this is misrepresenting the report, and showing inaccurate results as no one analysing the report would know if they are seeing the Ref no or…

Appreciate the feedback here, community. I want to assure you product ideas in the forums here are a primary source for our product teams when planning development and diving deeper into improving the experience for our customers when using Xero.

I can understand it may feel that things aren't moving as quickly on ideas you'd like to see developed however you can filter ideas by Working on it to get a sense of ideas from our community that are being worked on, or Delivered for ideas we have released solutions for.

It really helps having only 1 idea per post in the forums here so others in community understand what they're adding their vote for, and our product teams to get a sense of the interest from our customers in a specific feature.

I've split your idea here to a separate one for being able to view the tax code

  20. You can add formula columns and rows to a report, but from what I can tell, the column formula always takes precedent over the row. It would be cool if you choose if you want the row formula to calculate in the column formula column
