Sales invoice - Discounts off total value
I need 'Invoice Value Discounting' where we provide a discount on nett price and a different percentage is applied dependant on the net amount. For example 5% applied on invoice of 250, 7.5% over 500, 10% over 750, etc. You would set these up in a table and you can decide which clients have IVDs

Expense Claims - Edit once approved
Ability to edit expense code and tracking code after approval and payment.
This is to make up for there being no data validation capability for coding.
The workaround is to run the Account Transactions report and run 'query tests' in Excel.
Once the errors are found, you go back and edit the transactions for missing tracking codes, etc.
With Expenses there is no ability to subsequently edit the transaction, though whihc measn you need to create journals which is inefficient and hard to audit.7 votes -
AU Payroll | Employee - Add multiple email addresses
Add a second email address for an employee, for their payslips to be sent too - i.e. if payslips need to be sent to an employment agency each pay run, their email address can be added and payslips automatically sent here each pay run, rather than manually downloading payslips to send outside of Xero.

Xero Files: Simple email address for email to files
There should be a way we can change the email address that the files inbox accepts to make it more tailored to clients?
For example for a client, their inbox files email could be: xero.inbox.owerthsgm56785.49n6356@xerofiles.com which is crazy!
It would be so much better if it could be something like xero.inbox.clientname@xerofiles.com

Banking - Show account balance on statement import screen
When importing bank statements on the import screen, it would be great to have the account balance shown on the screen.
Yes it shows the latest transaction imported but some statements will have transactions for the same day shown after this transaction that may or may not have already been imported - you would have to go back to the bank statement screen to confirm the balance. Having the bank balance on the import screen would be a nice QoL adjustment.
Thanks

Statements - Attach outstanding invoices
It would be a time saver if copies of outstanding invoices were attached when emailing customer statements
31 votesHI team, while it's not possible to include links to all outstanding invoices when sending a statement I did want to make sure you're aware of the option to include a link to Outstanding bills when emailing an invoice to customer.
From this link your customer will be able to see a total and the individual invoices they have outstanding to pay with you - more on this here

NZ Payroll: Generate and send payslips before posting pay run
Ability to email payslip before the pay run is posted. This way the employee can come back to the pay clerk with any feedback on hours or allowances before the pay run is completed and filed through to myir. The reduces the need to revert the pay run before the "final" posting and payment made to employees. Reverting the pay run impacts on IRD when IRD have begun their processing as they have to do a manual amendment to pick up any changes once the pay run is re-posted. I have advised by IRD they have to make manual amendments…

Export - Option to export data in CSV UTF-8
Export in CSV UTF-8 or excel file as opposed to CSV comma delimited. Or have the option to choose what format the file is downloaded in as opposed to it having to be csv comma delimited.
Reasoning: We utilise characters in our Xero that currently doesnt export out correctly e.g. "é’é¾ é¦™ç±³". This problem would be eliminated if we could export the file format as either excel or CSV UTF-8. Xero as a system supports the upload of these characters and displays them absolutely fine on the webpage, which is why we have decided to move to your system, but…

Invoices - Protect/Lock invoices from alterations (in addition to Lock Dates)
Our company's invoicing procedure comprises three steps:
(1) invoice generation by our own custom software and also pushed to Xero through the Xero API,
(2) direct debit payments manually added and processed via GoCardless (on their own website, not Xero's integration) for selected invoices, and
(3) invoice reconciliation in Xero. This process is jeopardized when any alterations are made to the invoices in any of the systems (our database, Xero, or GoCardless), causing inconsistencies and the need for corrective credit notes. We primarily use our custom software for invoice generation and management (90%) and occasionally create manual invoices in Xero…

Find and Recode - Option to bulk change Due Dates
It would be great if we could do a bulk recode of due dates for invoices. EG, all May invoices for a particular supplier can be recoded so the due date shows 30 June.

Reporting - Set default date columns from oldest to most recent
A button you can click to reverse the order of the columns in Reporting
Typically the reports show the month in question closest to the account descriptions and then the prior months in columns to the right but we'd like to look at our current year starting with the earliest month in the column next to the account descriptions and the remainder of the year in columns to the right. This is particularly useful when building out projected cashflows.22 votesYou can re-order the columns of your report with the layout editor, Robbie. 🙂
Once you've got the report set up as you like you can Save as Custom to easily access the report with this layout.
If you're like to make this the default layout there is also an option for this - see our help here & here

UK Payroll - PAYE payment date set
Add a date option on the Taxes and Filings tab to add the PAYE payment date. This would easily show if the payment has already been set in advance without having to log into internet banking to double check.

Tracking Categories Report - Ability to print/download tracking categories
Tracking Categories Report - Please add the ability to print/download the tracking categories
43 votesHi team, to export a list of all Tracking categories in your org, you may find the Tracking Summary report of use to you here. Alternatively, you could run the Account Transactions report and Summarise by the Tracking category.
The one caveat here for both reports is that they'll only show a list of the tracking options that have been used within the date range the report is run.

MFA: Remember 'Trust this device' setting after 24 hours
I understand the ATO requires you to enter 2FA daily, but that doesn't mean the tickbox should uncheck itself every day.
If I tick trust this device on Monday and login using 2FA, I can then login without 2FA for 24 hours.
After that 24 hours, I need to login using 2FA again AND I have to tick the trust this device box again to get another 24 hour reprieve.
Let us tick the box or another box that will remember our choice ongoing. So each day I only have to login using 2FA again but my choice to trust…

MFA | Remove requirement to use
Get rid of this stupid MFA on EVERY sign in.
It used to be monthly which was bad enough, now it is a constant pain having to use an authentication device just to get access to Xero. MFA is a complete waste of user time. My bank doesn't use it and I trust them not to lose my money, so why does accounting software need it?
If the ATO insists on it with their stupid STP, then link it to STP and nothing else.12 votes -

Chart of Accounts - Ability to set a default tax rate for new accounts
Be able to set an automatic default tax rate when new sales or expense accounts are created. In our country, the sales tax rate changed, and by default when I create a new account, it gives the old tax rate. Unless I change the Default tax rate for this specific new account to the current tax rate, I will be given the old tax rate by default. This has given us accounting problems that are sometimes hard to trace when one doesn't change the tax rate manually each time a new account is created.

Bank transactions - Ability to post payments without a contact
Require the ability to post net wages, loans, drawings without a contact. This information should not be accessible in the customer/supplier ledger/contact section.
5 votesHi Charlotte, can you expand a little on your needs or use cases for your idea here?
A wage would generally be connected to an employee in payroll. Managing a loan is a little different and we have suggestion of how to do this in our help here, and when it comes to drawings and introducing cash to the business this would generally relate to a specific shareholder and would be recorded as Spend or receive monies, if you'd rather not specify the contact you may want to set up a generic contact that you could code these sort of transactions too.
