  1. Export in CSV UTF-8 or excel file as opposed to CSV comma delimited. Or have the option to choose what format the file is downloaded in as opposed to it having to be csv comma delimited.

Reasoning: We utilise characters in our Xero that currently doesnt export out correctly e.g. "青龍 香米". This problem would be eliminated if we could export the file format as either excel or CSV UTF-8. Xero as a system supports the upload of these characters and displays them absolutely fine on the webpage, which is why we have decided to move to your system, but…

  2. Our company's invoicing procedure comprises three steps:
    (1) invoice generation by our own custom software and also pushed to Xero through the Xero API,
    (2) direct debit payments manually added and processed via GoCardless (on their own website, not Xero's integration) for selected invoices, and
    (3) invoice reconciliation in Xero. This process is jeopardized when any alterations are made to the invoices in any of the systems (our database, Xero, or GoCardless), causing inconsistencies and the need for corrective credit notes.

We primarily use our custom software for invoice generation and management (90%) and occasionally create manual invoices in Xero…

  3. It would be nice to have the option to attach files when using cash coding on the bank. To attach a file, I have to go back to the bank recon tab, find the entry and then attach the file. This wastes a lot of time. A small attach file icon or the option to attach a file on the drop-down will save a lot of time.

  5. Xero Project feature idea

    • drill down transaction from Xero Project reporting
    • Report template Xero Project layout can not be saved to custom report template
    • assign project to Payroll
    • Inactive jobs, still showing in the list although its in the different section, in my opinion the inactive project should not show up at all, should make the same like employee list where there is a dongle to show inactive Projects.

Appreciate you have a few ideas for Projects here. We try to keep 1 idea per thread so others understand what they are voting for and we can clearly share the information back with our Product teams.

I've changed the title of your idea here to reflect your first idea and welcome you to create new ones for the other ideas that you've suggested.

  6. Add a date option on the Taxes and Filings tab to add the PAYE payment date. This would easily show if the payment has already been set in advance without having to log into internet banking to double check.

  7. I understand the ATO requires you to enter 2FA daily, but that doesn't mean the tickbox should uncheck itself every day.

If I tick trust this device on Monday and login using 2FA, I can then login without 2FA for 24 hours.

After that 24 hours, I need to login using 2FA again AND I have to tick the trust this device box again to get another 24 hour reprieve.

Let us tick the box or another box that will remember our choice ongoing. So each day I only have to login using 2FA again but my choice to trust…

Hi Charlotte, can you expand a little on your needs or use cases for your idea here?

A wage would generally be connected to an employee in payroll. Managing a loan is a little different and we have suggestion of how to do this in our help here, and when it comes to drawings and introducing cash to the business this would generally relate to a specific shareholder and would be recorded as Spend or receive monies, if you'd rather not specify the contact you may want to set up a generic contact that you could code these sort of transactions too.

  9. Dear Xero,

Cheque Printing option should be available for versions outside of Canada & US It's a very key feature required to many organizations which should be added in xero. Hope to see this feature available to every version of Xero in the near future.

  10. Ability to automatically calculate VAT using the marginal scheme.

Purpose: To easily show correct VAT amounts when VAT is only charged on the Margin between Purchase price and Selling Price.

Hi everyone, thanks for your interest in this idea.

For now, I wanted to share that we're aware some users have the following process to record their transactions. The example uses a vehicle with a purchase price of £1500, and a sale price of £2000.

    1. Record the purchase of the vehicle on a purchase Bill for the full purchase price of £1500 with a tax rate of VAT Exempt. So the purchase is recorded in box 7 on the VAT return.
    2. Record the sale of the vehicle on an Invoice for the full £2000 - using the Tax Exclusive option, and then manually changing the VAT calculated to the required amount - £83.33 (i.e. 20% on the profit of £416.87 or 1/6 of £500) by clicking the small plus box above the Tax Rate.

This will mean that you only charge £83.33 VAT for the overall profit figure, and ensuring the correct amounts are reflected in boxes 1, 3, 5 and 6.

    You could…

  11. Add the ability to extract data from scanned receipts in the Xero Expense web app.

At the moment, both the mobile app and HubDoc can automatically scan receipts and extract data (date, amount, payee, etc). This doesn't work in the web app and Hubdoc cannot send documents to the Expense app.

We use a document scanner to scan multiple reciepts at a time and then batch upload to our expense keeping app (Zoho Expense). Drag and drop multiple receipts into Zoho Expense and the software will automatically extract the data from multiple reciepts at a time. This is more user…

  12. It would be really helpful when merging suppliers if there was an option to keep all contact and financial details with the updated contact. When an existing supplier joins Xero and starts sending Xero generated invoices that you can upload to Xero if the name is even slightly different it creates a new supplier. This could be as basic as Ltd vs Limited. When these contacts are merged all the existing information is deleted and needs to be re-entered. An option to keep all existing contact information would be great.

  13. Add a feature where you can capture bulk supplier invoices.
You can select your supplier from a dropdown, type the invoice number, type the description, select to add a file, select account detail (sales account) and type in your amount.
This will save much more time vs opening the supplier account, add new bill, etc, etc, or copying a recent bill and just typing over it ... it's tedious and time consuming the way it is set up now.

Hi Louleen, rounding back to your idea here. From what you describe it sounds like majority of the contents of the bills are the same? If so perhaps a repeat bill template could be an option. If you set this to create a Draft bill you could then just review and make any adjustments.

Also if you already have existing bills that need entering you can back date a repeat bill template and dependent on the cycle you set e.g 'repeats every x days' you could spin up multiple bills from one template at once.

  14. Changing MFA devices for Xero Verify brings over your accounts but on the Xero Identity Account page, when you attempt to change the device it makes you re-set up the account / code in Xero Verify. Would love to just have a 'change linked device' with a drop down of devices that have Verify attached to the account.

  15. When I am emailed a bill from a vendor who also uses Xero, I click the link and open that bill in a browser. Usually, I am already logged in to Xero in another tab in the same browser. Usually, there will be multiple bills to open this way.

For every single bill, I have to click to log in to Xero to save it as a draft in one of the organisations I have access to. It's a small thing, but I'd like to not have to do that if I'm already logged in to Xero in another tab,…

  16. Currently expense reports are not fit for purpose. You can't even order non-approved expenses by date or export them.

You need to be able to order unapproved expenses by date and by project/customer.

You need to be able to add description and project/customer information into the expense claims report.

Xero is **** at expense management frankly and with a few minor changes could be so much better. I should get a refund on my subscription for the wasted time.

Sorry to hear your're not satisfied with Xero Expenses, Jeremy. Appreciate there are a few things that you've noted that you feel could enhance your experience when using expenses.

We do try to keep one idea per thread to make it simple for community to understand what they're adding their support and to help share this back with our product teams. I've adjusted the title of your idea here to reflect exporting expenses. We have an idea for changing the sort order here, and  you're welcome to start new ideas for any other points you've shared too.

  17. With the current financial climate, employees are suspending their KiwiSaver contributions. The Inland Revenue (IR) allows the Employer to continue with the company's contribution voluntarily.

At this stage, it is not 'officially' possible for the employer to contribute to KiwiSaver if the employee is on a Savings Suspension in Xero.

The employee is on a Savings suspension, then the company cannot contribute either. Also, when on a savings suspension Xero requires an expiry date, IR does not always provide a date; instead, advising us when to recommence the KiwiSaver.

If the employee's KiwiSaver is kept active their contribution cannot be…

  18. Hi

Client is wondering whether there is a way to split bills in the cash flow prediction to show half the bill being paid on this day and the remainder on another day. Currently you can tell it that we estimate to pay the bill in full on this day but can't see an option to split the bill.

Look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks

  20. In Repeating Transactions, you have a column width for Reference which is fairly decent, but then the data in that is truncated to the extreme. It takes up less than half the column width??????
Has it not occurred to your programmers to use the full width of the column and only suffix with ... if it still proves too small to display all the data
