Payroll: Accruable earnings pay item
Accrued Earnings Payroll item in Payroll
We need to record a Project Incentive Payment as an accrual on payslips. These accruals vary per project with some accrued hourly, daily or weekly and are paid at the end of the project.
The Accrued Earnings payment would be setup in Payroll Settings, with a running total displayed on payslips.

Invoice - Discounts more than 2 d.p
This column is useful but could be improved.
As already noted in another existing idea, it would be good if there was a way to indicate whether the discount is per-item or for the line. As it stands, if there is a count, then to emulate a dollar discount on each item, we have to manually calculate the total discount for the line (number * $ discount) to enter the appropriate line value.
The percentage discount option is good also (as it avoids the above problem with specifying an absolute amount). However, it has a different problem in that the…

Projects | Connect Quotes and Deposits
The Quote information should come forward on the invoice whether you are invoicing from the Quote or invoicing from the Project Amount OR the deposit amount needs to show when invoicing from the Quote.
It doesn't make sense that if someone pays a deposit, I have to use the project amount to invoice but have to re-enter all the quote information (our quotes are broke out in areas with a dollar amount for that area to be invoiced).
If I use the Invoice from Quote, then the deposit amount doesn't show. I then have to work around the deposit that…

Bank Reconciliation: Add the ability to search by contact account number when matching transactions
Bank Reconciliation - Match Does Not Work with Contact Account Numbers
The ability to search by contact account numbers when matching bank transactions is essential as most deposits on the bank statements are referenced with the client/customer account number only. The bank reconciliation ignores contact account numbers in totality.

Sales Invoice | List view - Filter by Contact Group
Ability to filter draft invoices by Contact Groups.
We have a large number of customers who are moving toward shared accounting services (ie: centralised payment of our invoices). It would be great to be able to filter draft invoices by the Contact Group, or at the very least be able to see the contact group with the customer name on the draft invoice screen9 votes -

VAT Return - adding detail to transaction
When reviewing a VAT return on the transactions by tax rate tab - there is no way to view the detail if the payment was through an invoice or bill even though you are able to see the detail if it is entered as a spend money or receive money transaction.
Being able to create bills and add attachments is extremely convenient, however, it is not when you are unable to see the detail you have provided when reviewing the VAT return.
Please look into this! Thank you.

UK Payroll - Email payslips before posting pay run.
Allowing the payslips to be emailed before posting to HMRC to check for any errors would be great. We have multiple users involved in the payroll data input and there are usually one or two errors as there are many expenses claims. Being able to do this would make life so much easier for us.
7 votesThanks for your interest and feedback on this idea, everyone. Currently, you can View Payslips from within the draft pay run by clicking into Options > View Payslips.
From here you could download and email the payslips from outside Xero.
Though no plans at present, if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea.

Budget manager - Ability to extend periods by more than 12 months
Can we please extend the budget manager period from 12 months to more than 3 years or whatever is possible? The data in the budget manager does not go beyond 12 months and if the budget is to be changed after a year of upload it doesn't have such access.
When working for a movie/film-making company the budget runs for more than 12 months and it needs to be changed time and again. But Xero doesn't have such an option which makes it impossible to get an accurate variance.
It would be great help.8 votesAppreciate how you'd like to do this within Xero, however just to confirm it's currently possible to import budgets with more periods.
You'll just need to make sure to format the dates in your import file - more on this here.
If you'd like a practice run, try it in the demo company before importing into your own org 🙂

Business Snapshot - Ability to show monthly and quarterly comparatives
In the Business Snapshot all of the comparatives are to previous year. In a startup this isn't meaningful as prior year balances are nil, but month-to-month or quarter-to-quarter comparatives would be super useful. In established businesses also, monthly and quarterly comparatives can be very useful.

Reporting - Reconciliating Profit & Loss and Statement of Cash Flows
The existing 'Statement of Cash Flows' could be enhanced to be the bridge between the P&L and the balance sheet.
1. Term debt and cash are netted to give the movement in cash equivalents. If the statement differentiated between 'term' funding (in our case, reduction of term debt) and the 'cash at bank' balance it would better describe cash flows.Make repayment of loans a 'financing' activity. Currently it is wrapped in 'cash equivalent'.
The flows in Operating Activities would be more meaningful if it highlighted where to see changes. For example, working capital changes in the period under review…

Cheques - Ability to Print Cheques in Another Currency
If someone is using a multi-currency Xero account, they should have the ability to print cheques in a currency other than their home currency. Currently this is not possible with a Xero Canadian account. This is extremely inconvenient for users who need to print cheques in a currency other than CAD.

Published report | Copy & edit - Date not refreshing in Compilation Report
When I prepare Financial Statements, I copy and edit a published set of Financial Statements from the previous year. But it is annoying that in the now draft Financial Statements, the date in the Compilation Report does not refresh to current date. So I either manually edit the date or add a Comp Report from My Xero. Either way is a pain. Any better ideas?

Bills | List view - 'View' bulk approved bills in Awaiting payments
The view box that comes up when you approve bills is utterly useless, you can't do anything with them, I don't see the point. Before the recent changes, when you approved more than one bill, you could click on the view tab at the top of the page and be directed directly to these bills in awaiting payment, from that screen you could schedule them for payment. Now you have to approve them and then go to awaiting payment, search for the bills you just approved, make sure that the bills that come up in the search are indeed the…

New Invoicing: Choose default calculation type for the discount column
The new feature sets the discount column to numeric value by standard. My business uses % and it's incredibly tedious having to type % each time. We can do 10-20 quotes a day with an average of 30 products per quote. So a feature that would allow us to click a button to default to percentage, so when you type a number the % appears (like in old Xero).
90 votesHi everyone, we appreciate the interest his idea has received. Introducing the ability to add a discount amount was highly requested by our community. We recognise for customers that discount by % this means you'll need to enter a % symbol where y ou wouldn't have done so before.
With quite a few items drawing our teams attention at present we want to be upfront that developing a default option for discounts isn't in the pipeline atm. This is something we'll keep reviewing and consider as a future improvement in this space. If there is any change or progress around this I'll let you know on the idea, here.

Reporting: Breakdown reports to a monthly basis
It would be nice to have a simple option to show any report that is run by month. So for example if you run a P&L report for 1st of Jan to 30 June at the moment you get a total for the period by default. Once the time frame is selected an option to then see the time frame by month would be helpful
1 voteAppreciate your feedback on how we could improve report filters for you here. While maybe not the flow you're searching for here this is possible with the use of 'Compare with' periods - So, instead of running the report for the whole period, select the latest month, then you can select the number of compare with periods as you'd like to see.
