  1. I am a sole trader. I started using Xero to see how it helped with my taxes. The road has been... rocky. Largely because Xero largely ignores soletraders and their specific needs.

    For instance, Xero has no IR3 reports (NZ IRD) set up that we can use.

    And we can't have depreciation amounts at the same time as accounts in a report.

    We also can't limit which accounts appear in a report.

  2. Please provide functionality in Xero to turn off the contact name suggestions when creating an invoice, bill, receive money or spend money transaction. This is very frustrating especially if you make a mistake and it saves it, it is there forever. Also the list can get quite long. We need to delete the names that are not required anymore from the list. Please, please fix this issue up.

    Hi everyone, appreciate the feedback here. As you may have noticed we have made some changes to the Contact field within new invoicing over the past few months to improve the experience.

    When entering a contacts name, the contact's shown are results from your existing contact record.

    As a start to help with cleaning up contacts that have been created in error you can either edit contact records, or merge contacts that may have been created as duplicates in error. This will help limit the number of contacts that are appearing in results when you type a contacts name on an invoice.

  3. When you mark a PO as billed and copy to a draft bill the files attached to the PO don't remain with it and attach to the draft bill. Very annoying that you have to re-save the file and re-attach it to the bill

  4. We have multiple employees that have various deductions from their wages. This is causing the pay slip to spread accross two pages which is concerning as they may miss important information like messages at the bottom of a pay slip.
    There needs to be the either:
    1. The ability to change the payslip layout
    or
    2. Have two or three template options to choose from.

    Currently the whitespace at the top of the payslip could be utilised. The required business and employee information is great but could be in a better layout. Move the business information to the left, employee…

  5. We should be able to prepare and view future VAT returns where there are multiple unsubmitted returns. Ie. able to prepare multiple VAT returns for client approval at once. Currently, they have to be prepared and submitted before the next quarter's return is visible.

  6. Our payroll requirements vary across the year as we are very seasonal. It would be useful to be able to 'select all' or 'deselect all' when selecting who to pay when setting up a pay run. Having to deselect about 30 of 35 staff one by one is painful!

  7. Under all the new rules and regulations set down by the Tax Practitioners Board, it is a requirement to keep a backup copy of the data file. We do not want to start a new Xero file from a backup - that is not logical. We need the ability to click on a button and run a backup to comply with the new rules. Using another app is also not a solution. It must be built in the the Xero program that we can use as bookkeepers. This is an essential feature if we are to comply and do regular…

  8. Xero can currently accept online payments however most methods have quite large fees and can result in chargebacks. BTC lightning payments have lower fees (almost nothing) and no chargeback risk. The ability to offer customers this would be great.

    There are a few SDK's to implement end-to-end lightning payments that are apparently pretty good such as this one:

Hi, I would love the ability to select one of our bank accounts or credit cards on the awaiting payments screen for each bill. i can select the planned date however this only tells me when it is going to be paid and it would be useful for planning if i was able to select for example the credit card it is DD from or bank account to aid in budgeting and cashflow.

  10. Packing Slips need to print what is on screen. Xero how about you create a rule to check what is in the Packing Slip fields and make sure what is going to print also matches. Don't expect the users to have to check what they are printing actually comes out of the printer correctly.
    This is the response I got from my Trouble Ticket on this issue today, which suggests the users "wait a few moments to allow the auto save to complete."
    New invoicing is very frustrating, why should we have to wait for something that works perfectly well…

    Hi Zachary, it looks like there is an integration with Mechanic desk available. If you've already integrated this with your organisation and looking for further capabilities to what it offers we recommend reaching out to their support directly (listed under the additional info section of the Xero app store).

    As they designed and built the integration they can confirm what's possible and would need to make decisions of if this is something they'd be willing to expand their integration for.

  12. Can you please add a link to Payroll Reports under the Payroll Section. It's a simple change that would make Payroll a true one-stop shop.

  14. Quote- Multiple formatting options in the "Summary" section.

    In the service delivery business the quotation is also your proposal. Having the ability to use bulleting or numbering as well as bold text or underlining would greatly improve the look and feel of your proposal when the "Summary" section is used to describe and summarize the work or project you are quoting on.

    We use copy to a draft invoice every day for Sales Entries in a Hotel Business.
    The base Sales Invoice has numerous lines for all the possibilities to process each day's
    sales. EG: Sales - Bottleshop, Sales - Bar, Sales - Bistro etc. There are approximately 50 lines on each Sales Invoice. Amounts are updated in the row that is applicable. Some rows will be $0 on some days. The GL codes need to stay the same.

    New invoicing is bring in a "default GL account" when the previous Sales Invoice had a $0 in that line.…

    Appreciate the detail and screenshot you've shared. You're first note around the account code filling may be related to the auto suggestion feature and I've added your vote onto this idea so if there's any change there, you'll be updated.

    In relation to freezing or having a floating header row - Can see where creating longer invoices this could be helpful too. I've updated the title of your idea here so we can begin tracking interest specifically in this and share if there are developments.

  16. I raise invoices for clients who provide services to government departments and have project managers involved. This requires me to send an invoice to the accounts department who may have einvoicing and to the project manager who does not have access to the financial software and therefore requires a copy of the invoice which also confirms to them that the invoice has been submitted to accounts. Would it be possible to have another option when preparing an invoice to Approve, Send (as an e-invoice) and Email all in one process?

  17. Show that vendor's previous bills on the screen when entering a new bill. This helps to see prior amounts and dates to make sure month-to-month expenses are in line.

  18. Ability to see aged debtors' balance in the currency the invoice was generated in, not just in your base currency, otherwise, it is difficult to calculate how much a customer owes. The same is true when you view the balance for a contact. It shows the issuing currency for each entry, but the total is only shown in the base currency, which is not helpful if you need to inform someone of the balance outstanding.

  19. xero online invoices show rate & quantity even when posted from XPM which do not show rate or quantity
    automatic invoice reminders from xero online are sent with rate & quantity even though invoice settings in xero exclude rate & quantity
    xero online invoices should be aligned with XPM in all formats - pdf version & online
