Files - Ability to upload any type of file to the library
To make the user able to upload any type of file into the library in Xero.
Purpose: To have more variety of file types that can be uploaded into Xero.
7 votesHi everyone, there’s already a pretty wide range of accepted file types available for upload, listed here. Allowing any file type to be uploaded is not best practice from a security perspective, so we need to manage the file types available. For example, the XML file type can be used to perform a variety of attacks that we want to avoid to protect our customer’s data. For that reason we don’t have any plans to make the XML file type available. If there are other specific file types that you want to see, feel free to start a new idea per file type so we can gauge demand and assess associated risk.

Reports - Trial Balance with OPENING / CLOSING balance and and Movement from GL Summary Report

currently TB report shows ending balances for current year in db/cr two columns AND in single column Clubbed up remaining balances +/- in when COMPANRED to previous periods.I propose/request IT to make TB more classic by
- showing ALL remaining balances in two columns DB/CR when comparing previous years
- OPENING and CLOSING balances columns to be available (year selected from starting of fiscal year Jan20xx)
- TB report to ALLOW us to SELECT RANGE of dates (Range based TB)
- MOVEMENT (total Debits Total Credits) for the selected DATE and/OR RANGE should be available. CURRENTLY this is available in GL…

We can see how much manual work you're doing, combining exports from the GL Summary Report, just to create a "classic" comparative Trial Balance for your auditors. That's exactly the kind of difficult workflow we want to help improve.
Your proposal to enhance the report with separate debit/credit columns for comparatives, clear opening/closing balances, and a movement column for a selected date range is very clear.
We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how these reporting improvements would help them during audits and financial analysis.

Permissions - Give Invoice Only users access to Send/Print for approved invoices
Invoice Only User SHOULD have access to "send and print" feature once the Purchase Order were approved. To address this concern, a user should have an access level of Invoice Only + Purchases, however, changing the permission to this level, the inputs made by other users, which might be confidential and unnecessarily to be seen by others, are compromised. I would like to request to add this feature (send and print) for the Invoice Only users.

Bills - Drag and drop Files from email into Xero
In the Bills section under- New Bill and Upload Bill you cannot currently drag and drop the file from an email into the box. You either have to email or download the file would be time saving if you could just drag and drop straight from email into the new bill box.

Trial balance - Compare Tracking
Trial Balance new report: Be able to run a report by tracking category. At the moment there is only an option to filter but if you have many tracking units you end up running a multiple reports and need to combine them all. Really time consuming.
My proposal attached - with such report you could do any analysis you want!

Bank | Reconcile period - Prevent bank feeds impacting reconciled period
BRAND NEW RECONCILE PERIOD - when a period is 'reconcile' and a report is created it should really prevent bank feeds from interfering. I am told by Xero support this was not considered in the creation of this new feature even though it locks the account separate to the 'financial settings' what is the point if it allows other information to be added once the account is reconciled??

New invoicing | Payment - Ability to set a default account
Please have a default bank account in the add payment function. Have to manually enter the number or search for the bank account through your whole chart of accounts. Old invoicing had bank accounts automatically in this box.
6 votesThanks for your feedback, Jacqueline. We don't have immediate plans for being able to set a default bank account for payment on an invoice, but we'll start to track this here and I'll share if there's any plans made.

Reports - Option for All time / All dates to view all transactions
We need to be able to select "All Dates" on a report. ex. I want to see a report for a certain account from the start of my business to the current date. now I need to select beginning date and then todays date and the update.

UK Payroll - Set the date for when payslips are available
It would be useful if payslips could be scheduled to be posted to Xero Me on a date after the payroll is run. Eg you may run the payroll mid-month but want employees to be able to see their payslips on the date the payment is made at the end of the month.

Email templates - Use [Invoice Number] Placeholder in Sales
Is it possible to have the choice to add [Invoice Number] placeholder to a sales receipt - email template.
Customers often make multiple payments against several invoices so would be good to let them know which invoice the payments is against.6 votes -
Contact - Indicate if customer receives e invoicing
Please could you add the ability to select on the customer contact card if invoices are sent by e-invoice or not. Some customers prefer e-invoices, and some are not set up for e-invoices.

Reporting - Percentages with decimals when expenses shown without
Xero allows us to choose whether or not we show decimals in an Income Statement. We believe showing 2-decimal places on revenue and expenses to be unnecessary, but feel it is VERY important to show 2-decimals on the % of revenue. It is better to show .04% than .00% and .05% than 1%. We would like to see Xero separate the option of decimals between numbers verses percentages so our clients can have a clear grasp on their performance.

Sales - Export invoice totals due
When you export invoices, it gives you multiple lines for any invoice which has more than one line. It is therefore not possible to easily total up the amounts due because some invoices are on there multiple times meaning the values are overstated.
6 votesHi Stewart, is there a way you see the export being more helpful for you. For example would you be looking for a summary of each invoice? The Receivable Summary and Detail reports maybe useful for this sort of view and can be exported.

Invoicing - Option to add outstanding amounts to subsequent invoices at the bottom.
Could you enhance customer accounts by automatically adding outstanding amounts from previous invoices to the next issued invoice as a separate line item called 'outstanding fees'? This ensures customers can pay the full amount due, not just the current invoice.

History and Notes report - Contact details
It would be really useful to see the contact name on the History and Notes report.
We use this report to track bank account changes but we also check newly added supplier bank account details. Seeing which contact each line relates to would help us group them and know if an 'Edited - Bank.....' relates to the same contact as a 'Created' so we don't need to go into each line6 votes -
New Invoicing - Add Total at Top
Add a total invoice amount at the top of the screen like the old invoicing format. It's a pain to open an invoice and have to scroll all the way to the bottom to find the total amount of the invoice, especially if it's a long invoice. The old invoice format shows the invoice total at the top of screen
6 votesWhile we don't have any direct plans for adding a total back at the top of the invoice, it'd be good to get a sense of the interest if this is important to others in community here, too.
Though I appreciate it's not a solve for the idea. To help speed up getting to the bottom of the page on those lengthier invoices, Julie you may find using the 'end' button on your keyboard helpful 🙂

Overpayments - Convert to Bill for refunding
If a client has overpaid an invoice, or paid an invoice that has been voided/credited, when Ihave reconciled the incoming payment as an Overpayment, I would then like to be able to create a Bill from this payment so that the refund it sitting in Bills Awaiting Payment.

NZ GST - Export file to include "GST Return" in naming convention
The new modernised GST returns in Xero no longer export the report name in the exported file name. The document only has the client name and date, not the report type anymore. Should say "XXXX Ltd 30 11 2024 GST Return", whereas it currently only says XXXX Ltd 30 11 2024". Inefficient to have to manually add the words "GST Return" for each report produced in Blue Xero when sending multiple documents to clients. Is there a way to get it back? Bank Reconciliation - Available balance including Overdraft
In the bank account settings, add an optional data field to enter in the Overdraft limit on a bank account. Then on the dashboard screen, show the net available balance of current bank balance + the undrawn Overdraft limit.
Purpose - to save the user from having to manually calculate how much is available to make supplier/payroll payments or login to internet banking prior to check.
Should also be a simple feature to add.
