Reporting - Budgets by tracking category to integrate with master overall budget
Ability to integrate budgets by tracking categories with the master overall budget.
Purpose: Because it can automatically flow through the master budget, so users don’t need to manually reconcile during this process.

    Thanks for your passion and the detailed feedback on this idea, community. We can see how much time is spent manually consolidating tracking category budgets, and why having this roll-up automatically would make a big difference.
As noted by others in the thread, one option for now is to use a third-party app from the Xero App Store. Some in the community have mentioned tools like Spotlight Reporting or Budget Consolidator are great for this, and it’s a good way to get the insights you’re after.
While we understand the value this feature would add, it isn't on our immediate roadmap to build right now. We know that's not the news you're hoping for, but we want to be transparent about what's in our current focus - You can get a view of some of the changes coming in the next quarter through our website, The Long and Short of it.

 commentedWe need this. We waste time entering all our individual budgets by tracking option into Xero every year; there's so little useful functionality in Xero. All our monthly and YTD accounting by client has to be done in Excel to get any useful, readable data.

 commentedIt seems inconceivable that you have to enter a separate budget for each tracking category, and then have to undertake a manual exercise to ensure that they reconcile to the total company budget.

 commentedThere is a risk of errors where I need to upload budgets per tracking category and then another budget which sums them all together for an overall budget. I have no way of checking that the tracking category budgets actually total the overall budget total. It also means I have the data in the system twice - once in the tracking category budget and then again as part of the overall budget. This is messy !

 commentedBudgets are not working for us when using tracking categories. Ideally, I would like a single budget, but with the ability to add detailed line items by contract and revenue stream (our TC's). I have only managed to input budgets using the TC's individually - this means I would have 50+ budget veriosn when looking at the different compinations of contract and revenue stream whihc is not practical or manageable, especially when we start re-forecasting furthe along the year.

 commentedWe have 14 tracking categories which means we have to create 14 budgets then add them up and create an overall budget. Ideal would be to post budget amounts and select the tracking category into an overall budget.

 commentedI created an app to solve this specific problem. Takes less than 5 minutes to consolidate multiple Xero tracking budgets, view a consolidated P&L, and import an Overall Budget into Xero. Saves me a lot of time and reduces manual errors. Plus, I can use Xero for budget reporting rather than learning another tool. You can try it out here: https://www.budget-consolidator.com

 commentedXero Budgets - Xero needs the function to allow users to total up multiple individual budgets (in the same way the actual business is for all our clients in the P&L. Xero budgets are currently useless to companies with multiple budgets. We enter about 50 client budgets into budget manager annually, but it's a totally pointless stand alone operation. We have to put everything into Excel so that we can actually manage budgets, actuals and variances through the year.

 commentedI have spent ages setting up new reports and bdgets and was mortified when i realised i couldnt consoidate the different tracking budgets without excel. crestfallen
