Contacts - Show information on one page
The edit contact format has recently been changed and I now have to click through multiple tabs to edit and view contact info. This is much more time consuming. I would like to be able to edit and view all contact info on one page.
Hi all, returning now a few weeks on from our last update, we’re going to move this idea to Delivered! ✅
You'll now find a single page for editing contact details, with the added benefit of using the tab selections on the left panel to go directly to your chosen section on the contacts add/edit page.
Again, thank you for all your comments here - we know this has been a highly anticipated feature for community. Your feedback helps us to continue to shape the future of contacts at Xero.

Just another quick reminder for everyone to remember to click the "VOTE" button at the top or your vote wont be counted! There are 74 comments but only 48 votes so a lot of people have forgotten to click it :-(
Also, I consider some of the info to be under the wrong headings..... for example, i personally would consider payment terms and credit limits to come under the heading "financial details" not "sales defaults", so i keep looking in the wrong tabs for stuff. It just is not intuitive or user friendly!

Not sure who Xero consulted before making this change, definitely a backwards step!
@HelenNicol I found that error was when I tried updating a Contact's Bill due date without a First Name and Last Name entered... not sure if that helps? -

Xero, change it back. The new design slows down data entry, is not user friendly. Not being able to see all the contact's details in the one view slows us down. This is a bad, bad, bad design. Change it back please!!!

The new version is more time consuming, internet heavy and cannot see all of a contacts details in one hit. Very frustrating. Plus we need at least one freeform field (used to use Skype field for other things before it was removed). Please return to single screen as an option.... (I work with 25 other bookkeepers & consultants - we ALL want a single page)

The previous version was much more user freiendly

When the contact form will not save the error message is 'There is 1 error in the form' - but does not specify where that error is. This is very frustrating and makes a simple editing job much more difficult and time consuming. Please clarify this urgently -

This new design is a GIANT time waste for end users. We went from ONE page, where we can edit all the attributes of a contact to multiple. This is insanely and inanely worng headed. I don't really care what your excuse or reason is, it's non-intuitive and adds WAY more time on contact entry/edit time. **** this.

Please change it back!! Fields that were normally side by side with similar info is now pages apart! When I add the customer tax number to exempt them from paying provincial taxes I want to change there Sales Tax Type over to reflect that and it's pages apart whereas before it was only a few boxes apart!!
Also when searching for new address it puts the address in the fields twice? Why is that? It puts the town and postal code under the second line in address field as well as below in their specific fields?
I also preferred Box 43 instead of the automatic PO BOX 43
Please just make small changes at a time in Xero not redoing the whole quoting and contact look and feel....
Keep up the good work and putting up with our constructive criticism :)

Totally agree, the changes are so frustrating, please, please change the contact page back to how it was. Not sure why or who thinks this is a good idea, but whoever it is, please stop them as I don't believe they are the ones that actually use the facility.

Also, when the customer is created with the customer name, if you choose the prompted address it pulls it in, but then duplicates the name of the customer - not a good look.

Also, where is the tick box to say that the delivery address is the same as the billing address?

@Renee, agreed. With so little info on each page now, a far more efficient layout should be used so that you don't need to scroll. I already use the "compact" view on reconcile and there is still loads of wasted space! Same here.
I am honestly thinking of looking at other tools that will actually support my workflow. Ergonomics in software is underrated, and I picked other reporting software based on ergonomics (after filtering out for the other stuff).

Please change back to one page

It would be handy to have the Save at the top of the page too, so you don't have to scroll all the way down if you are just changing a name.

Seriously need revert back to the old version or to add another option for users so they can choose which version of the Add & Edit Contacts screen they wish to use. The old format had everything available on 1 Screen.
The new version is very unfriendly to use now having to click through various tabs to load the information. -
Clare Trimming commented
Please have an option to use the old version too. The new version is far more time consuming. It involves more clicking between tabs. You can not cut and paste an address into it, so have to fill in multiple separate fields. The contact name comes up with "attention" in front of it which we don't want.

The new screen is cumbersome and makes my job more difficult. Not happy!

Adding new contacts what a nightmare this new format is, click here, click there, took forever to navigate, the old format was so quick and easy and all in front of you, a credit to the designer
Your technical guys I feel are just trying to keep there jobs by making everything more technical, go back or give us the option to go back to the original design. Xero will tell us we are to old to adapt to change which is what they usually say. They do not get we want functionality over pretty.
