Contacts - Show information on one page
The edit contact format has recently been changed and I now have to click through multiple tabs to edit and view contact info. This is much more time consuming. I would like to be able to edit and view all contact info on one page.
Hi all, returning now a few weeks on from our last update, we’re going to move this idea to Delivered! ✅
You'll now find a single page for editing contact details, with the added benefit of using the tab selections on the left panel to go directly to your chosen section on the contacts add/edit page.
Again, thank you for all your comments here - we know this has been a highly anticipated feature for community. Your feedback helps us to continue to shape the future of contacts at Xero.

5 fields default to 'use organisation settings'. I think the organisation setting should actually be shown, as it is for the currency field (which states for me 'Australian Dollar (Default) '
Many small business users who perform data entry will not have access to the organisation setting screens, plus some of these organisation settings are in organisation settings, and some are in advanced settings.

I agree with Clive's comments, in particular:
- why can we now not enter 0 due days? Many suppliers require payment before goods are dispatched, so we pay on the same day, ie 0 days after bill month - actually this hasn't been user tested very well/isn't very user friendly as I have just noticed that if I select 'days after bill date', I can then go back to the previous field and select 0. The flow of data entry needs to be more user friendly/efficient.- I used to tab from bill due date, then type 'd' so the menu option shows me the options beginning with 'd', now I have to move my hand from the keyboard to the mouse to click on that field and am forced to click on my desired option. Again, not very efficient/user friendly

I have lost my "reference" in my invoices - not the invoice number but the actual title of the matter being billed to the lawyers. I cannot find where it goes now to show up.

The new splitting of data entry over several screens really does have an adverse effect on the fluidity of entry for suppliers/customers and takes users longer as the various pages start data entry at different heights on the screen. Would it not have made sense to simply add a line to the previous scrolling screen?
Also, data entry validation changes have been poorly implemented for two reasons.
a. When updating records, every supplier now need their VAT number preceding with 'GB' before the record will re-validate. Surely if this is imperative Xero could have run a file fix before implementation?
b. When setting up a new supplier the validation will not accept '0' days to pay a supplier after purchase, but these are the usual terms of business for many of our suppliers. When editing an existing contact record, the validation does NOT demand that a number greater than 0 is entered, which is inconsistent.
From the above and looking at other user comments the development appears somewhat misguided, poorly coded and not fully tested. An option to switch back to the previous Xero screen whilst the bugs are being sorted out would be most welcome. Kind Regards.

I agree this is much more time consuming, and I don't need to add in all of my client's ACN, etc. etc, when I'm just wanting to send them a simple invoice.
Please change this back.

I have found that you can click between the left "tabs" to add the next screen, without "save"ing and it won't be lost. You don't have to "Save and Close" each page.
It's still a backwards "improvement" with no value, but at least those of you struggling with that specific problem may get on a little faster.
Please, we want "switch to classic" for this feature. The new has no benefits.

Most annoying, is when I update an address and click "UPDATE". At this point I believe it has been updated and go back to the invoice or whatever I'm working on.....
Then I find out that my changes were NOT updated as apparently you have to click on both UPDATE and SAVE.
Why???? two clicks for something that only needs one click.....
sigh....

This new format is a backward step in my opinion - time consuming and the "error on the form" message is thoroughly frustrating. Please Xero - return the format to its original one.

Totally agree - it takes so much longer, this step feels just like Sage now. So much quicker and simpler before, all on one page. Definitely a step back as others have said.

Unnecessarily clunky. A backward step in usability.

Why is this - Entering 1 contact now is spread across 5 screens. Is it optional to have all details on one screen rather than saving, waiting, clicking next section, saving, waiting, clicking next section etc etc?

I need to update quickly, due to the volume and I am processing and setting up. It is vital to have all fields on one page.

Changing the contacts screen is completely non-value adding. It now takes much longer updating contacts having to click in and out of screens.
Xero needs to focus less on gimmicky changes and more on functionality which is useful - are you even consulting accountants when you are making these changes?
Perhaps you could focus on creating functionality for Buyer Created Invoices i.e. bulk uploads and making it less clunky.

Please give us an option to use old version or new version. In our business we need two contacts if I don't have a email address, I can not add the second person.

Adding new contacts every week, what a nightmare this new format is, click here, click there, took forever to navigate, the old format was so quick and easy and all in front of you, a credit to the designer
Your technical guys I feel are just trying to keep there jobs by making everything more technical, go back or give us the option to go back to the original design -

The "improvement" is anything but. You cannot see the main contact if editing another. Making "promoting" an additional contact to the main contact a painful experience.

The update to the contacts is awful - to do a job taking 3 actions, is now taking 12 ! This update is retro-grade - not an improvement.
I agree with Sarah J's comments (12-8-22).
Like other updates, is it possible to retain the 'classic'.
(By the way, I'm still not using the new invoice update & much prefer the classic version)
