New Invoicing - Reduce number of steps and clicks
New invoicing has introduced more clicks, taps, steps at almost every level.
Please remove the added friction as it increases processing time.
The "new invoicing" messages are full of comments regarding where these pressure points have been added.
We are paid subscribers, and beta testing/seeking feedback is wonderful, but being forced onto an inferior model is.. suboptimal.

Hi everyone, thanks for continuing to share and keep us informed of the differing flows and actions that could be improved in how you invoice with Xero. All feedback through these forums and across Xero Central discussions has been shared with our product team and will be carefully considered as we continue to build on your invoicing experience.
About a month ago we changed the behaviour of how defaults are applied, so now when you copy an invoice for the same Contact their defaults will automatically be applied to the new draft invoice.
Most recently, and as you may have noticed we've released a new line item grid (where you enter the details of your invoice). Many changes that come with the new grid are based on feedback we've received from our customers the most prominent for this idea being that we've optimised padding, font size and column widths to reduce the need to scroll. All fields will now wrap text so you can read your full account code, tracking or tax rate. Other changes that we've wrapped into this release include being able to manually add rows, and shift these where you'd like them placed in your invoice, and seeing more of your inventory items in the dropdown menu. We know some customers were having trouble with the options they'd selected in the hide/show columns reverting, and this has also been resolved with this release.
With many changes delivered to reduce clicks and steps since this idea was originally raised, we are going to move this to delivered. We understand and appreciate there are further points within invoicing our customers would like to see a reduction in steps and clicks, and this will remain a focus for our teams as we continue developments.
Below I've listed some ideas that have been raised through your feedback and we encourage you to create ideas for the specific points you'd like to see these sort of improvements.

Chris, https://www.infusionsoftware.co.nz/ looks good, But I really like the look of Odoo - https://www.odoo.com/, so I''m looking at transferring to that (it also looks like the good old Xero)

XERO - What are these ..."There are really important reasons why we must go forward with sunsetting classic invoicing and investing in the newer version"
Facts would be nce

VERY WELL PUT KELLY. Given the mess it is in I do believe the Product Development Team were a figment of XERO's imagination. They have consistently stalled on other changes.and really failed on this one.

Hi Kelly,
I think you and Xero are underestimating the negative impact the new invoicing is and will have on Xero and its market share.
Right now the people communicating their dissatisfaction is a smaller number, because the majority of Xero users have ignored the info and are still using Classic invoicing. Once you force the change you will be inundated with thousands of unhappy users. Only by then it’ll be too late for Xero to make the upgrades to get all the same classic functionality and you’ll start losing those thousands of customers who don’t have months to wait for Xero to fix a product they use daily to earn income.
New invoicing has been around for over 4 years. Xero has had years to make this product perfect! What have you all been doing???

Lloyd - another one is Infusion at https://www.infusionsoftware.co.nz/
They are really good and have been around for many years. Very smaller to XERO and FAR more responsive with Telelphone real time support. Also will help with applications etc.
Worth a look

Out of interest has anyone tried or got any comments about another online accounting system: https://www.odoo.com/
Interest to hear if anyone has tried this system.

If this was true XERO, then you would have been actively improving the site following the many, many constructive user suggestions. You have not been doing this but have simply embarked on something driven by your software people NOT the users - look at all the constructive user suggestions you just ignore or make condescending comments on.
Please also start to Listen to users and what they need improved rather than making condescending excuses.
A COMPANY THAT WILL NOT LISTEN TO THERE CUTOMERS WILL PAY THE PRICE

I understand that Xero had to take their software onto a new coding platform at some point to effect some of the items we have been asking for for years (f.ex the ability to choose from multiple addresses) and to keep up with a new security environment. Cool.
I don't understand why the functionalities offered on the older platform were not the easy first thing to put into the new platform, and then added onto from there.
It looks like perhaps somebody sold Xero a lemon of a platform to build upon, and now they have to suck said lemon. -

You are so right Damon - but the XERO rule is if users want something lets double talk them and do something that is not wanted - like the new invoice!
It is crazy for a supplier not to listen to its customers - I do not understand why XERO treat us with such contempt.

Hey Kelly
If they are listening rather than giving us the runaround just duplicate the functionality and make your salary payers happy. Feels like Xero is on a mission just to wind us up.

Customers in this thread and others have described dozens of missing features and showstopper bugs. You're talking about fixing eight or ten of them.
Let's stipulate that the upgraded version is unavoidable, inevitable. If you were truly listening to your customers you would commit to feature parity before sunsetting the classic version.

Is everyone aware of the many other Discussions about how useless, cumbersome and awkward New Invoicing is?
Go vote and comment on those too. -

I support the effort to escalate this to executive management. It's clear the product team is completely off the rails on this.

Hi
I have also emailed the CEO and company secretary.I'm astounded that this issue was not fixed a week after the update! Did the tech's not test this?? Amazing.
Lets hope we get a result in the near future.

Thanks Chris
Have emailed both CEO and company secretary. Lets keep pushing forward and appreciate any action taken to get Xero's attention.

Julie and Damon
I have started to print the comments I see about not just New Invoicing however other issues as well where the ZERO team is failing to perform. KEEP CONTACTING them.
I will deliver the printed copies to the Auckland Directors personally at their homes in the hope if they know what is happening then they may do something about the XERO non-performance.
ALSO
If I get enough support, I may be able to have a item ADDED to the next XERO AGM under general business. I have been successful in the past however it takes a lot of work
Keep sending commnets and you never know they may one day pay attention!

I have emailed ceo and company secretary on new invoicing as well as other basic functionality still missing like supplier statements, disputed flag, supplier credit limits, ability to "pay" credit notes, missing bank payments off the cashflow forecast etc etc.
Sadly a standard response so far as below :-
Thanks for reaching out to ceo@xero.com - I love hearing from you and getting your feedback.
Emails to this inbox will be monitored by the Xero team and we’ll do our best to respond where possible.
If you have a support query, please continue to reach out via Xero Central. For all feature requests and product ideas, please go to Xero Product Ideas.
Best wishes,
Sukhinder and the Xero teamAll we can do is keep "spamming" them here and no social media. Their lack of communication is atrocious!

Back in Feb 2023 when Sukhinder Singh Cassidy became the new CEO at Xero, she emailed everyone "A personal note to say hello". In that she wrote:
"There is always room for improvement and we’d love to hear from you about how we can make Xero even better, together. Please continue to access support through Xero Central or reach out and be vocal - whether that’s through Xero Product Ideas, Community Discussions on Xero Central or you can drop me a note at CEO@xero.com or connect with our team at Xero events. You can always keep updated about what’s happening with Xero on the Xero Blog."I did email her at the time asking for us all to be actually listened to and pointing out how many basic suggestions were on here which are important to us are never dealt with, in preference to development that isn't really important, including one back from 2015 about automatically sending statements.
I didn't get a response, but I presume that email address may still be active. So I guess, "reach out" and "be vocal" :)
