Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

Absolutely agree. Please keep Classic Invoicing. The new invoicing is simply annoying and a lot more time consuming to work with. Such an integral part of using Xero for us and the change means less productivity for our organisation.
Please do not change something that is working well. -

The new invoicing is very hard to review as you are working through it. You must keep the comma for the thousands and you have to be able to drag and drop an attachment from anywhere on the screen not click on attach do and try and beat the 3 secs you have to drag a doc into a small area.
I need to click on the mouse less not more
Classic invoicing must stay, there is nothing wrong with it

Using new invoicing has not improved anything for our business - it has only been negative. Processing invoices has become slow and annoying. Please keep Classic invoicing available.

Agree. The new invoicing is a dogs breakfast and the attempted rollout has been a mess. I suspect the push to change is more due to future paywalls and has nothing to do with "what users asked for". That is a load of rubbish. Users are asking for you to not stuff up a critical part of business operations, a part of the platform that we rely on to keep our businesses running. Typical Xero pushing more paywalls and focused on their bottom line rather than the users.

I agree, can you please keep Classic Invoicing as it integrates much better with our project management software. The new invoicing is difficult to view and has lost important features making it less productive for our organisation

If it ain't broke don't fix it - this is clearly an initiative solely to create more work by someone from Xero's creative team who doesn't want to be made redundant.
You can tell the coding etc. for the classic invoicing was built well as the load in time is almost instant. In comparison the new invoicing takes 5-10 seconds to load in every time. It doesn't take a computer programmer to know that its loaded with all sorts of useless additional links, overlaps etc. or has just been built poorly to the point it takes at least 5-10x times more time to load.
We create 50-60 invoices a week all in one go and this little delay really slows down the process. It costs me additional staff time and the almost "laggy" feel to the new invoicing gives them a headache.

Would be great if Xero collated all relevant feedback in all the different titles of feedback of how much users dislike the new invoicing, so that you Xero, can see how many issues there are to be solved before any change.

That said, we’re approaching a really busy time of the year and want to make this transition as smooth as possible. That’s why we’re extending the availability of classic invoicing to 27 February 2025.
Xero - you need to update new invoicing to the same as classic before you are going to get this past without seriously bad feedback and loss of business.

I HATE the new invoicing format. It's too big, Dropping attachments into the screen is harder than the classic. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE CLASSIC INVOICING AWAY. OR make the new one more like the classic format. IM so dissapointed in XERO for doing this. It's making building invoices so much harder and more time consuming.

I absolutely Despise the new Invoicing, it is more INCONVENIENT than the classic invoicing was, Why do people keep trying to fix something that isn't broken!!

Please leave classic invoicing permanently as the new invoicing is a dogs breakfast and there are features missing. It’s a terrible idea.

All of my clients and many other BAS agents/bookkeepers I speak with have all voiced their dislike for the new invoicing option and have commented that they would prefer to keep the old invoicing option as it is easier to use and looks more professional on the screen.

The main downside is that it takes from 15 to 30 seconds to load an existing new invoice / add a payment. This is not internet related. Some clients dont have such a delay so not sure whats going on there? Keep Classic invoicing until this is fixed.

Old invoicing is better!
You can drag and drop purchase orders in one action
New invoicing you have to open a file box first.
There is no where to add the discount % in the new invoicing.
Why change something that is not broken. -

Please keep classic invoicing. New invoicing not efficient/effective. Is time consuming and hard to view

Why does the email button hide after you press it the first time? We're constantly having to revise quotes and invoices, and often have to drop out of the email window before sending, and now it's hidden in a submenu for no good reason!?

Please please do not retire classic invoicing! Just "some" of the issues we are facing:
1. you cannot add an expected payment date within the invoice, you have to go to the awaiting payment screen and add in there. This is now adding extra time to our processes of adding remittance advice notes to invoices and the payment dates.
2. adding files is so much longer and often doesn't work the first time. So you have to repeat the long winded processed again.
3. if you change the date of the invoice, it automatically changes the due date to 7 days - regardless of any payment terms the contract has saved. And then you have to do 3 extra steps to put the right date in.
4. You used to be able to type in "+7" to put in a due date 7 days from now. This was such a time saved but seems impossible to do now.
5. editing an invoice is harder to do as the edit button is hidden away.
6. emailing an invoice is much harder to do as the email button is hidden away. Please listen to your customers - although I dont think anyone from Xero is even reading these comments anymore?

Emailed an invoice to myself today and under history it doesn't show that i have sent it to anyone but it did say that i updated the invoice twice at the same timestamp. So I will never know if invoices are emailed or who they are invoiced too.
Also the autosave feature is great except sometimes I do need to check the changes so now i can't roll it back if i have made a mistake.
Please keep the interface of the Classic invoicing. The new invoicing is clunky and not user friendly. The email button is now behind a drop down menu and to attach a file I now need to click on another drop down menu to access it. Also its not all in one place either i need to find where these specific drop down menus are on the page.
Please please please do not for the roll out as it is not ready and these changes may seem small to you but to the person invoicing it can add hours to our day!! -

Hey, revolutionary idea:
Keep the layout and functionality of classic invoicing, and only change what is happening in the background.
This will keep people happy.
The other option would be to carry on with your planned phase out of the classic invoicing, because Xero doesn't give a truck about what their users want.

Doing some invoicing today apart from crawling for last 30 minutes, new invoicing decided to switch from GST exclusive to GST inclusive. Lucky I caught it, careful everyone just another joy of new invoicing. I didn't change it, I dont change that tab ever.
