  1. We are long term users of Xero and find many aspects of its functionality make our accounting functions easy! This is not the case in terms of Payroll entry….The Xero Me App does not come close to meeting the needs of a small business like ours….and I am sure we are not entirely unique!

    Our business is predominantly made up of casual employees who work different hours from day to day/week to week. Many of our employees also drive vehicles and require kilometre reimbursement.

    The biggest challenge we have is the accurate recording of employee hours…unfortunately, we have issues around…

  2. It would be great to be able to export a report of all notes on employees contact. We use the notes section to record notes about attendance issues, conversations, warnings given.

    Hi Kylie, while there's not a specific employee notes report, you can run the Payroll History with a few filters to get what you need here.

    When you run the report you can either run it for all employees, or select the specific employees from the drop down. Set the Type to 'Employees' and Apply.

    Once run you can then enter 'Notes' in the search to further filter and only show employees notes added to their records in the set date range. If needed you'll also be able to export the report to Excel or PDF.

  3. Add a date to the end of the payslip PDF file name. eg payslip_20220519 That way easy to save and file each slip without having to rename

  4. When negotiating salaries It can be beneficial to express an amount net of tax and super. Xero does not calculate this other than imputing different amounts of gross wages to achieve a net figure close to required net amount.
    Maybe something you could add to future upgrades.

  5. When approving timesheets it would be ideal to have separate lines underneath Ordinary Hours with Leave requested, on which days and hour amounts and to be able to approve there instead of having to go to a different screen.

    Can be hard to double check and remember correct days the leave was taken and also to ensure daily and weekly hours are met.

  6. A 'select all' feature to approve all unapproved timesheets would be great.
    8 plus years now of having to tick in a tiny box for all my casual/part-time staff is getting a little tedious, especially when a slight error opens the timesheet up and you have to then back out of the page to start all over again.
    It shouldn't be too hard from a coding point of view should it?

  7. Have the option to accrue leave on other pay items. ie. Saturday rate has to be set up with its own rate per employee as each employee is on their own rate for Saturday and isn't a "mutplication of the ordinary rate". This also needs leave to accrue on it.
    Spoken to Xero adviser and they don't have a set up for this yet.

  8. Can we please have the ability to add effective start and end dates against pay items. For example, a deduction may only be for 10 weeks at a set amount. Rather than having to setup multiple notes offline to remind us of this, can't we have this function setup in the payroll system so it only deducts the amount over the set period specified?

  9. We need to be able to export SAFF (ATO super compliant files) to Superannuation clearing houses. I am unable to upload a file as Xero is not SAFF compliant.

  10. We are after a report which shows the leave accrual rates for each individual employee in bulk report. I know we can view each individual employee by clicking on their leave balance and looking at the "Hours of leave accrued annually by a full-time employee. However for businesses with a large number of employees, this is very time consuming, therefore we would like a bulk report we can run to view all employees accrual rates in the one report.

  11. Show the Total Payment of a Pay Run, on both the Pay Runs and individual Pay Run screen. As it is, you have to click Payroll > Pay Employees > Pay Run > Employee to see the Total Payment for that specific Pay Run. Far too many clicks to check what the total amount was that was posted to Wages Payable account (and paid from the bank account).

  12. Integrate Xero Payroll with NHS Pension Scheme.

    It will be really helpful if you have integration with NHS Pension Scheme. This may also help many GP Practices and NHS organisation use the software for both Accounting and Payroll

  13. Make it so that an employees actual current leave balance is shown on an employee's record under the leave tab. Not just the balance with future leave applied. It's frustrating to have to download an employees pay slip to view these balances.

  15. When using the Leave Paid out on Termination feature in xero, the paid out leave is recorded in the Holiday Leave Accrual category. This means we are unable to run a report showing the value of unused entitlements paid out on Termination. This is important information for Workcover Reconciliations etc. Please set up a report for Unused Leave Paid out on Termination.

  16. Could you please consider adding the feature of adding and processing auto superannuation payments from each finalised payrun (eg button next to "File" that would prefil the contributions in the payrun and further to authorisation). A number of clients are asking for a payday super feature, and adding this feature directly from the payrun will minimise the number of "clicks" and processing time. This also would be a hot topic if moving to compulsory payday super.

  17. The UK Payroll API does not allow payslips to be updated as it does in AU/NZ.

    Enabling it like it is in NZ would allow all UK users to be able to upload Earnings/Deductions/Reimbursements/Accruals to the payslip electronically and save massive amounts of time.

  18. UK doesn't currently have the remuneration report. This is a basic fundamental requirement on payroll.

  19. Suggest the ability to apply work patterns to part time employees. For example, we have a part time employee who works 7 hours on Mon, 6 hours on Tues and 6 hours on Wed.
    At the moment, if a Public Holiday falls on a Monday, it does not correctly work out hours worked.
    The same happens if Annual Leave is taken; incorrect hours are calculated which affects AL accruals.
    Hours worked have to be calculated and added manually.

  20. Invoices submitted by contractors - Xero should have a tick box where we can tick 'I need to pay super on this invoice' and it tracks and records contractor super owing.
