Reporting - Include transactions and their project details
A report to show transactions that have been posted including the account code and the projects that the transactions have been assigned to with data parameters.
We reconcile the sales, direct costs and gross profit amounts from the project summary report to the same amounts in the profit and loss report but currently there is no way to identify differences when they arise. The above report will really be helpful!

History & Notes - Report to show just transactions with new notes
I'd like an easy way to make a note on a transaction or other unique information without it having to be "found" in the notes and history at the bottom. I'm trying to give a bookkeeper/advisor a bunch of notes at once, and it would hugely helpful if somehow there was a way to send her something or have a "log" of some kind that showed my recent notes, with easy links to the transactions, so I don't have to do screen shots and send outside of Xero etc.

AU Payroll - Add new super funds from employee profile
When adding a new employee record, allow me to 'create new superannuation' during the process of creating their new record. Currently when adding a new employee record, I need to navigate away from the employee record to 'Settings > Payroll Settings > Superannuation' to add a new superannuation relationship. On the new employee record, when the pop up appears for superannuation, if you could add a spot to say 'Create New relationship' or something under the employee record - I'll buy you a beer.

Any search function in Xero to ignore additional space characters
For example, the search box does not find results if there is a space at the end of the search term. More often than not, if you are copying and pasting a piece of text with the search term, the device will add a space at the end and most non-technical users will not realise that the cause of no results from the query is due to a space they cannot see. e.g for invoices and products and services

Projects: Universal Markup
Products and materials
Other packages provide a means to set a default value to mark up items from their cost value then automatically set the sales value accordingly.
The user would then preset a markup value to be applied across the whole list of items in Products and Services.
Also, a universal feature to adjust for price increases from a pulldown list of the inventory.6 votes -
Hubdoc - Bulk Configuration Extract
Bulk Configuration Extract from Hubdoc
The missing feature in Hubdoc as dealing with large volumes of clients becomes hard especially when we need to check settings for contacts individually

AU Payroll - Choose when Employees have access to payslips in XeroMe
From the moment you post a payrun, and this can be 1 day or 10 days before payment is made, employees have access to their payslips. To pull an ABA from the payrun, you need to post the payrun first. I process payroll for over 30 business's. Part of that process, as I am sure it is for any agent or employee bookkeeper, you generally need to get an approval (even the filing for STP makes you verify that an authorised person has checked it). This approval is an email to the client with the payroll information (including ABA file) so that if all is ok, they can make payment (and flick me an email when they have time - which can be days after payment is made) and we don't have to wait for their approval then resend with the ABA attached, which makes it a time consuming task for our clients who are super busy running their business. Under Australian Fairwork requirements, they only need access to within one day of their payment date, so why can it not be linked to that? The payment date needs to be the trigger for the access, not posting of the payrun.

Xero Interface - Dismiss / hide the setup guide
Please add the ability to dismiss/hide the setup guide without the need to have clicked through and used all options in the guide. Some do not apply to my organization and so there is no way to get the blue setup guide button to disappear and it gets in the way of other things on the screen.

NZ Timesheets - Set default pay calendar for timesheet review
When go in to view/approve timesheets have the ability to set a default pay calendar to use (currently all pay calendars including archived pay calendars come up). And the pay calendar for last week (defaults to the current week which means need to scroll down and repeat each time you view/check a new employee). Not very time efficient

AU Payroll - Ability to hide Payroll accounts from employees with Standard user permissions
It was bought to my attention after using xero for over 2 years that depending on how you pay your staff using multipayment or individually that when you reconcile if your staff have access to contacts then they will see the payments made.
This is a concern for me that they can see the amounts whether your reconcile as a bulk amount and allocate to them or a generic contact - if you use the cash coding area then xero creates a dummy payee called unknown which again can be seen by your staff with standard access.
They can also see your super outlay as well as your payroll outlay which is really a big issue.
We need to see if xero can lock either certain GL code postings from staff being able to be seen or a permission in the standard role.

Fixed Assets - Allow Custom values in depreciation schedule e.g. 50%, 30%, 20%
Please update depreciation schedule to allow for custom percentages per year, for small business in SA it is allowed to depreciate 50% / 30% / 20% over three years but there is no viable way to implement currently.

AU Payroll - Allow letters on employee's bank account number field
I have employees with bank account numbers that include a letter. Xero won't accept this as valid. The bank won't accept it as a valid account without it.
This means that I can't have the correct bank details in an employee's information, nor can I create a .aba file with the correct details for that employee, nor can I create a bill payment for a reimbursement for that employee, nor can I pay any bill for any other entity in the same position.
I would like to be able to pay these people the same as I do everyone else.

GST Late Claims Carry Forward and Selection Option
Currently a Xero customer can chose to include or exclude late claims in a GST Return. What most Xero customers don’t appreciate is if they chose no then the late claim adjustment vanishes until their accountant prepares the year end reports. This can leave a client vulnerable and oblivious to significant errors over the course of a year. In my opinion at the vary least if a client says no then the late claims should be progressed to the next GST period. A phase two development could be providing the option of what adjustments can be included and what should progress to the next return. Currently as an accountant i need to be able to identify adjustments as mistakes or material errors for which a voluntary adjustment in a past return is required. Using your current approach it is often uneconomic to investigate return by return how the variance has been collated. A third phase of development would be for your GST Reconciliation output and input numbers to link to a page of numbers rather the random unidentifiable number which appears now. Xero GST works well for clients who are always consistent but for those who edit transactions or process credit card statements out of cycle it’s a nightmare.

AU Payroll - Bulk approve timesheets
A 'select all' feature to approve all unapproved timesheets would be great.
8 plus years now of having to tick in a tiny box for all my casual/part-time staff is getting a little tedious, especially when a slight error opens the timesheet up and you have to then back out of the page to start all over again.
It shouldn't be too hard from a coding point of view should it?

Files - Ability to have sub files
Files is a great feature to use, to make it even more user-friendly it would be really useful to have a high level folder e.g. for the current FY, with the info sitting in sub-folders under it. that way you hold multiple years worth of info there, keeping it well-organised, easy to find and manageable.
115 votesThank you for all sharing and adding your vote for the idea, here. We know our customers find great use in Xero Files and developing the ability to create sub folders in Xero Files is something the team are planning to take a deeper dive into in the coming months. For now, we'll move the idea to Under review and I'll come back with more news when this picks up. 😊

Expenses - Bulk edit expense claims
Multi row edit UI on expenses.
I recent moved from Expensify, I've lost about 4 hours of productivity each week having to manually open and update 100s of expenses each week.
I’d like to be able to update categories and VAT status on many tickets at once, a simple list view UI with checkboxes on the left and the ability to update more then one row at a time would work well.

Projects - Drag and drop feature for assigning expenses
I would love to group select untracked expenses in Projects then drag and drop them into their expense category
If the untracked expense could sit in one column and the expense category in another that would be amazing so you can easily reference the category then drop accross from column to column
