  1. Xero Payroll - Bank payment details - is currently restricted to BSB & Account Number.

This needs to be expanded to allow for PayID details as more and more employees utilise this.

  2. Audit Report
As there are several users with full access to payroll, it would be helpful if this could be shown in the history (there is only minimal information here at present) or by report to see who has made changes to employee details within payroll and when. It would also be useful if there could be changes to the options when setting up a user as some users only require access to approve leave and print reports and not full access.

Thanks for your interest in this idea everyone!

Off the back of our payroll history update back in August last year, we’ve released a dedicated Payroll History report to all Australian payroll users.

You’ll now see an extra option in the Payroll menu for ‘Payroll History’. This report combines the history tab available across employee details, payslips, payroll settings and pay runs into one report.

For anyone interested in permission and more user role controls in Payroll - you might like to support and stay tuned for updates in the idea we have for this here. 🙂

  3. I love the fact that our girls can do their timesheets with start and finish times and leave a comment. However, I need to see this when approving the timesheets for payroll.

If their could be a way for the approved payroll person who approves the timesheets to see the start, finish, comments and total hours would be perfect. Otherwise I will have to keep using the old system of excel spreadsheet.

Hi everyone, as you might have seen, earlier this year we added in start and end times as well as notes in time entries to Xero Timesheets.

I’m pleased to let you know that we’ve added a bit of extra functionality to these two updates, for the manager view. If you’re authorised to approve timesheets you now have the ability to view start and finish times, any comments added, as well as total hours in both the web and Mobile app 🎉

Thanks again for all your feedback!

  4. The New GST layout needs to keep the "Late Claims" separate on the transaction details report. Lumping them all together with income or expense and then the totals don't tie into the numbers on the face of the GST return is frustrating. I can see you can filter by "late claims" but we don't want to have to export and manipulate the data when sending the documents to clients.

It doesn't make sense that the detailed transaction report doesn't match the face of the GST return without manipulating

Thank you for your feedback on the changes for NZ GST returns here, everyone. Late Claims display in the body of the return, to review them. If you click on this the Transaction tab will open and to toggle Late claims on and off, select the 'More' option.

Late claims have been separated into their own section in the Transactions tab, and if needed you can also use the Filter to choose to only view Late Claims. We'll soon be updating the export to PDF to allow late claims to be excluded.

We want to be open that we don't have plans for separating these back into their own tab and will close this idea. We still very much appreciate your feedback and will continue to iterate on this overtime to make filling and filing GST for an organisation simpler and more efficient.

  5. Xero Payroll restricts the payment date to no more than 90 days after the end of the payroll period. This isn't a legal or taxation limitation, but does restrict the occassions where clients are paying payroll in less regular intervals (such as paying their entire salary annually).

Hi team, while we appreciate the request here, considering compliance requirements for payroll in AU we want to be upfront that we don't have plans for changing the ability to set the payment date beyond 90 days.

For any employees that you may pay on an annual salary basis, we'd recommend setting the payment date 90 days before the employee's annual pay date.

  6. It would be useful if payslips could be scheduled to be posted to Xero Me on a date after the payroll is run. Eg you may run the payroll mid-month but want employees to be able to see their payslips on the date the payment is made at the end of the month.

Hi community, appreciate the idea here.

Although you do need to enter Office/Reference details through payroll setup these can be updated later on.

Instead, you can enter 'dummy' details. Then once you receive the correct credentials return to update these. 😊

  8. Allowing the payslips to be emailed before posting to HMRC to check for any errors would be great. We have multiple users involved in the payroll data input and there are usually one or two errors as there are many expenses claims. Being able to do this would make life so much easier for us.

Thanks for your interest and feedback on this idea, everyone. Currently, you can View Payslips from within the draft pay run by clicking into Options > View Payslips.

From here you could download and email the payslips from outside Xero.

Though no plans at present, if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea.

  9. The problem is if you set a deduction item in payroll on Xero it doesn't give option to pick P&L nominal account, where reimbursements to employees should be coded. The only work around are journals, which is ineffective when you have clients posting payroll themselves and they need management reports each month, so you have to reanalyze and repost their payroll.

  11. When adding a new employee record, allow me to 'create new superannuation' during the process of creating their new record. Currently when adding a new employee record, I need to navigate away from the employee record to 'Settings > Payroll Settings > Superannuation' to add a new superannuation relationship. On the new employee record, when the pop up appears for superannuation, if you could add a spot to say 'Create New relationship' or something under the employee record - I'll buy you a beer.

  13. Please create a deduction for payroll that can be linked to a bank account. Currently deductions can only be managed via balance sheet and/or by adding reimbursement to enable it to be transferred via EFT. Quickbooks and some other payroll software have this ability and it makes life so much easier and clearer for the emlployee too.

  14. When an employee has set amounts to be paid to multiple bank accounts, if there are insufficient funds to pay the amounts Xero allocates to the lowest amount not the order of the bank accounts. This means that payments like rent can be short paid. It would be good to have a flag notifying you of this and an easier way to reorganise the payments.

  16. Payroll Employee Summary Report

Is there a way to have this report show the actual period the wages are for? Currently the report shows "for the period 17 April 2024 to 17 April 2024, which is the date the payroll is paid. BUT the period is actually for 10 April 2024 to 16 April 2024.

  19. As with the financial side in Xero and their history and notes section, it would be very useful to be able to track who has approved leave or timesheets in Xero Payroll. We need site on which manager has approved the leave application or timesheet to mitigate any risk of the wrong people approving these.

  20. Dear Xero Team,

I’d like to submit a request for an enhancement to Xero Payroll to improve the setup and management of default superannuation funds.

Currently, when adding a default fund in Xero, there is uncertainty around what should be entered in the Member Number field. We typically process super contributions through the ATO Portal, but we would love to have the ability to do this directly within Xero.

Specifically, we would like the ability to:

Add a Default Fund chosen by the employer.

Assign employees who do not have an existing super fund to this default fund.

    Have a…
