  2. When creating sales invoices in Xero, the cut away remittance slip (or "payment advice") appears at the bottom of the invoice, but if your invoice has several line items and therefore goes over one page, the remittance slip still shows on the first page and makes the invoice look disjointed.

    We have played around with the custom invoice feature but because the remittance slip is in the footer of the invoice template, there doesn't seem to be a way for us to manually change this so that it only appears on the last page.

    If Xero could build…

  3. Currently after adding a payment, the page goes to the Sales Overview - Invoices. It would be good if (possibly just as an option) it returned to the actual invoice I was adding a payment to.

  4. Invoicing - Ability to insert a page break in long invoices

    Some of our invoices have long narrations with multiple lines. At present if one of your line items goes over to a second page you have no ability to define where the page break should be. It would be a great feature to be able to place a page break at any point in the invoice.

  5. When entering invoices and the account is always "sales" (for example), I would like the option to set up invoices to automatically use the "sales" account? It is currently only an option by setting up item codes and/or setting up through contacts. I would like to see it automatically assign the account at the time of entering the invoice, instead of having to type in an item code. It will save so much more time and avoid errors by users selecting an incorrect account from the chart of accounts.

  6. Layout of invoices with subtotal breakdowns for various VAT rates. To be able to present multiple subtotal amounts before various types of VAT are applied to the invoice. I have included an altered pdf file as an example of what you would want to see on the invoice.

  7. Hi Xero Support,

    Could we please implement another field to use in Invoice and Quote templates which shows the total before discounts?

    I want to show my customer what they would have had to pay before the discounts were taken off the price.

    This makes a HUGE difference when trying to show customer their savings with applied discounts.

    We need to be able to present Total Before Discount - Total Discount - Price After Discount.

  8. When importing bills from a csv file, Xero will currently treat all lines with the same invoice number as one transaction, even if the separate lines are from different suppliers. The system should ideally not ignore the fact that the supplier name is not the same. Would be good to assume that the bill is posted against the correct supplier, even if it happens to have the same invoice number as another supplier's invoice.

  9. In our business we make use of the bill feature to create a legal tax invoice on behalf of our suppliers and currently the Bills don't give me a legal tax invoice?

    Can we get a Bill template created that give us a legal tax invoice made out on behalf of the Supplier for the Supplier? Its called selfbilling and is a feature that is critical to our business as the Supplier dont always know what to invoice and we do this on their behalf and this has been legally agreed with the tax authorities.

    Hi Owen, this is already possible. If you're using an Android device you can click the 3 dots to edit the Invoice #, reference, branding, files attached, or currency.

    If you're on iOS you'll want to select 'Optional details' within the invoice - see our article here.

  11. Is it possible for cash sales/one off payments to chose not to save an email address? Every time I do a one-off cash sale for a new/random customer, the email address automatically saves into the Cash Sale contact file. But the next cash sale invoice is going to a different email address, so while I can input the new email address, the one prior is printed on the invoice! It is getting very tedious having to go into the contact file, delete the previous email address and get back into the new invoice to reprint it every time I…

    Thanks for your feedback, Carolyn. Appreciate the different use case and why you may not want information from a singular invoice to update the contact. We'll get an understanding of the demand for this here. 

    In the meantime, it'd be good to understand if recording as Receive money could help your flow here for cash sales so you don't have to enter contact details?

On the contact activity it tells you when an invoice reminder was sent but what would be really useful from a contact relations POV would be to be able to click that interaction and view the email so that you could screenshot/resend it to a client who says they didn't receive it. For example I have one saying at the moment they never received the reminder but did the one after and the one before? Odd? Proving the amount, email it went to etc would be a useful "told you so" if you know what I mean.

  13. To create a credit note from an invoice without applying it to the invoice.
    Currently the only option is ‘create and apply credit’.
    We refund first then generate the credit note. So we need to allocate the invoice to the customer receipt, then allocate the repayment to the credit note.

    Generally this is a time saving mechanism, not having to then apply the credit to the invoice. Appreciate the detail of your workflow Susan, as definitely makes sense in what you're trying to do here. 

    We'll start to get a feel for the interest around this here, and in the meantime - Not sure if it still suits your flow however if viewing invoices from the Awaiting Payments list, if you don't need to open the invoice, you could use the 'New Credit Note' option from here. 

  14. If the Total Tax amount per invoice was available for statements, then the Statement could be used as a periodic Tax Invoice.

    Good news team, quick view is out and this is now available to everyone. As you'll see from the bills list view there is now an eye icon that shows a right side preview of your bill when clicked. To simply move from one bill to the next use the arrows above your bill view. This makes it even simpler to take bulk action on multiple bills at once without having to open and review each individually.

  16. There is system wide error in the back-end template that you use to generate invoice emails. Please refer screen captures attached. You will see that I have two lines in my Invoice 005614 that are text descriptions of services only so are effectively subheadings and have no account code and no "value". They appear correctly in the PDF invoice with a blank in the "Amount NZD" column but they appear incorrectly with a value of "0.00" on the email the customer receives. I'm annoyed at myself that I have never noticed and reported this bug before because it looks these…

    Thanks everyone, we understand the interest for being able to pass on credit card and payment service fees to your customers.

    Atm, as some of you have noted - if you're using or set up Stripe as a payment service for your organisation you'll have the ability to pass processing fees onto your customers. This'll be included in the Invoice total when the customer clicks on the Pay now button in your invoice - you can read up on and follow steps on this here.

    Outside this service, while not automated there are ways to represent and pass on fees to your customers;

    • Add detail to your invoice payment terms so this is clear to your customer
    • If there is a default fee that'd be charged you might like to set this up…
  18. Unless I'm missing something, I can't seem to see the Item Code or Tracking Code fields on a saved invoice? They are there in Edit mode, but not when viewing a saved invoice? We don't need to include these columns on the invoice sent to clients, but do need to be able to see them for internal use without having to go into edit mode. Until we can do this, we won't be able to switch to the new invoicing.

    Hi team, apologies we haven't updated this idea sooner. Our product team made a change to the approved grid view a fem months ago, where now you'll see Item code and Tracking as separate columns once the invoice is approved to make it easier to review your information. We appreciate your feedback here and sharing through product ideas.

  19. Prepayment automatically be created for the combined total of the "Income in Advance" lines.

    Purpose: To save users time from having to prepayment invoices manually by adding a payment to the invoice from Income in Advance

  20. I want to hide the VAT line from below the subtotal on the 'Invoice email' template. I can hide it on the 'Invoice PDF' but not on the 'Invoice Email'. I'm not VAT registered so it currently says VAT 0%. But thus may look confusing to my customers. I would rather it was either hidden or removed.

    Hi Sam, sorry we've not updated you here sooner. This is possible through your email settings. If you open the Email template that you apply to invoices you'll find a check box for 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary'. You'll want to deselect this option to remove that detail from showing in your invoice emails. Just a note it does strip back a bit of the formatting of the email but will help you achieve what you're after here.
