CIS - Breakdown on CIS Suffered Report
It would be a massive help if you could click on the figures on the CIS suffered report to see which customer invoices make up the report figures. Clients often ask me which invoices are included and I have to manually work out where the figures come from
23 votesHi all, wanted to share a workaround here for those who aren't already aware.
You can run the Account Transactions report on a cash basis and if you filter it by the CIS Labour Income or CIS Asset account, you can see the invoices which have been included in the CIS Suffered report.
We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality on the CIS Suffered report. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

Account Transactions Report - GST period date range option
Would be great to have an option under account transactions date range for last two months to select to review transactions for a GST period.

Contact record - filter view based on activity type
When viewing a Contact's record, the activity can appear cluttered with every single change made, including adding planned payment dates, removing planned payment dates, adding invoice notes, editing the contact's record etc.
It would be good to be able to filter this page to look at say Bills Paid and Invoices Paid only; or Invoice Sent only.
As it works now, for a very active contact, this can quickly become difficult to navigate.5 votesThanks for your feedback and sharing your idea in the forums here, Jo - As part of our work for 'building on beautiful' a contact record is the next page in this space that'll be getting a new look.
Though a little too soon to confirm what it will look like, I can say that the page will be cleaner, with filters to help with viewing what is shown on the page.
I'll keep you updated, here 😁

AU Payroll - Add 'Payslips Sent' flag to STP filing screen
It would be good if you could go into 'Pay Employees' and next to the STP - Filed or not filed it would be good to have 'Payslips Emailed'. I have no way of checking / double checking if I have sent them.

Invoicing - Make multiple payments without exiting invoice
Entering multiple payments to an Invoice in Xero. Currently it exits the invoice when you enter a part payment in the payment section. I often want to enter several payments for cash received and card payment received on several days and have to keep going back into the invoice for each payment.
48 votesHi team, thanks for your interest and sharing in this idea. We appreciate if you're making manual payments against an invoice and have more than one to apply, why you'd like to remain on that invoice, however we want to be open that this isn't something we have planned right now.

Purchase Order - Report that shows invoice against PO and remaining balance
A report that shows all purchase orders with invoices against them and balance remaining.
61 votesHi community, we want to update you that we've recently released the ability to include Purchase Orders (PO) through Payable Invoice Summary report. If you expand the side panel on the left of the report and select the 'Outstanding purchase orders summary' report, this will automatically display all Bills, Credit Notes and Purchase Orders and group them by Contact for you. You can use the total row of each contact to infer the remaining balance.
We're aware this may not directly show the information that you’re asking for here, so we'll keep the status idea as it is and we’ll let you know if there’s any further updates.

Contacts next and previous buttons
Add the ability to click next and previous while viewing a contact.
5 votesThanks for your idea, Joe. To better understand the use case and maybe help others who'd be after the same connect with your idea here - Are there any scenarios or situations you generally find when viewing a contact and wanting to view the very next or last contact in a list?

Uncoded Statement Lines report - Default 'To' today's date
Currently when accessing the Uncoded Statement Lines report, the last date of the prior month will appear in the To field. This is currently set as the default in Xero.
Be more helpful if the current date was entered as it is the current entries that are being queried. If everything is up to date there should few if any aged items left in the reconciliation report.
3 votesThanks for the feedback, Richard. Can see where you're coming from and we'll get a sense of the overall interest from users on the thread here but want to be open that we don't have immediate plans for changing this.
To enable a little more swiftness when changing the date of this report you may find typing the letter 't' before clicking or tabbing through to the next field helpful - we have a few more date entry shortcuts you may like to explore, too.

Contacts List - View if a contact has a CIS verified status
It would be productive to see if a contact is registered for CIS/verified and their status on the contact account page - where the group info is listed.
Otherwise the only way you can see this info is by clicking edit the contact. And include a signal/sign on the contacts page next to each CIS registered contact so that they can be identified easily.2 votes -
Sales Invoice - Select "reply to" email address from dropdown
SO annoying that when we want to send an invoice using a different email address we have to always go into "Settings > Email Settings" to change the email address and then go back into it to change back once done. Why cannot we select the "reply to" email address from a drop down just like the "email template"?
18 votesHi team, we appreciate the interest in being able to change the reply to email when sending an invoice. This isn't something we have in our plans atm, but our product team are aware of this idea and we will continue to gain interest from our community for this here.
Just to confirm currently within invoicing you'll be able to see the current reply to email from the preview of the invoice on the right hand side. If you'd like to change this before sending you'll need to hop across to the Email Settings. Thanks

Repeating invoices - Daily repeating option
Repeating invoices only currently have the option for weekly or monthly- would be really helpful for an daily option

Xero UI - Scroll between months in date entry screens
When entering dates, can you please bring back the mouse scrolling function, where you could scroll down to go to the next month.
Rather than now, we have to click the right button to go to next month.3 votes -
Credit note - Ability to set an expiry date
Hi all!
I'm a one man band IT business, and I've just started being put on retainer by a company which is great, however I'm finding accounting for the retainer to be a bit burdensome.
Currently, my plan is it add the retainer's ammount as a credit note at the beginning of the month, and then somehow nullify any remaining credit at the end. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to add a way of managing retainers separately and more efficiently from credit?
Or even just having the option to add an expiry date to a credit note would simplify things.
Perhaps there already is a better way of doing this, or some sort of integration with a 3rd party app - I'd love to hear about it if that's the case!
Thanks for reading!

3 votesGreat to hear how you're currently using Xero with Credit Notes to manage this process for yourself, Joseph. I've slightly amended your idea for being able to set an expiry for a credit note as it's quite unlikely that we'll look to create a completely new feature for managing retainers.
Having a quick look at some of the other ideas raised in community, it looks like some people maybe using SimPro as a means to manage these, alternatively you could explore apps in the ecosystem that may meet your needs. 🙂

Xero to Xero - Share item codes
We operate two Companies on Xero - the manufacturing company sells to the retail company - so we use the Xero to Xero function for this.
I understand from the support articles that item codes are not transferred from Xero to Xero transactions. Is there any way to enable this, if we were to use the same item codes in each company? When the sales invoices are shared and received as draft purchase invoices the Item codes and COGS/expenses codes have to be re-entered - we would process about 500 per annum with up to 50 lines per invoice - which is providing an increase processing time and opportunity for error. We operate two Companies on Xero - the manufacturing company sells to the retail company - so we use the Xero to Xero function for this.

Organisation details - Shareholder register
It will be good idea if Xero got facility to have a share holder register (like fixed asset register) with the control account in Equity area or facility to upload share holder details, address, number shares issued, dividends due and paid. currently we maintain this register in excel which is an additional thing to maintain.

Account Transactions Report - Show date transaction was raised
For the account transactions report please can you add more column options to include the contact/supplier name and entered date. This is helpful in analysing the transaction data further.

AU Payroll - Track and approve work from home requests through Xero Me
In order to track and approve "Working from Home" requests it would be useful if Xero would enable pay item ("Working from Home") to be created that would function in the same manner as a leave category but was not leave (i.e. would not be reported to the Tax Office as a type of leave).
That way employees could apply to work from home, as they do annual leave, and approved working from home hours would automatically appear on the leave calendar.5 votes -
Check Register - Set check defaults by bank account
Ability to set a default check style per bank account.
On the operating account the check stock has the check on the top, on the payroll account, the check stock has the check in the middle, and on the sales tax account, the check stock has the check on the bottom. Three separate checking accounts, three separate styles.
It would be nice to have a setting where you can say, "if a check is generated from the operating account, apply the operating account style."

Xero - Sync multiple Xero organisations to an external invoice program
Be able to sync multiple Xero organisations to the one external program (for us it's Splose) to allow invoicing from one program to split to appropriate Xero organisation.

Fixed Assets - Ability to select account/s for disposal
Currently, the accounts you choose for fixed asset additions and accumulated depreciation are also used for disposal and depreciation on disposal. It would be helpful to be able to choose different accounts for the disposal transactions from those used for additions.
For example, fixed asset additions would go to an 'additions' account, depreciation in the year goes to a 'depreciation charge' account. Disposals go to 'cost of disposals' and 'depreciation on disposals accounts'. This keeps everything separate and mirrors the corresponding figures required for Ltd Company statutory accounts in the UK.
Being able to choose different accounts makes it easier for clients to see what assets have been acquired/disposed during the year, separately from those that have been brought forward and remain on the books.
