  1. Under the 'New Invoice' creation page, it would be great to add a contact's VAT number as you are creating the contact, on the invoice page.

Just add one line under the address.

Then one would not have to navigate to the Contacts page to add the VAT number

Sorry for not engaging this idea sooner, and thanks for your comment here, Freya!

As shown in the image - If you click on 'Name' to the left of your contacts list you'll see a drop down of options including the ability to select 'Date added' which will re-order your contacts based on the date they were added to your organisation in Xero.

  5. Where have the GST due dates gone from the new GST Return layout?

Also would it be viable for Xero to default no GST for transactions up to a certain date considering some businesses are registered from any point during a month.

  6. To be able to filter the History and notes - by the date that the changes were made on something specific and not the date of the original transactions.

This would be helpful if the Annual Financials have been finalized, and a change has been made after the fact.

For example: You want to know when the changes toward the 2022 tax year were made, towards the advertising account transactions since a specific date i.e. a date after the financials have already been finalized.

Sorry we've not updated this idea here sooner, everyone. To confirm this is how the date range filter int he History & notes report works today - Results in the report are based on the date the actioned occurred in Xero, not the date entered on the transaction.

For a broader view of recent user activity you may also find the assurance dashboard quite useful.

We appreciate there are other items and actions that our customers would like to see more record of history for and we welcome you to join and/or add any ideas for specific actions you'd like to see entries recorded for.

  7. Xero defaults to full pay period hours for a new employee in the 1st payrun even if the employee start date (already entered into Xero) is part-way through a payrun. This doesn't make sense and is too easy to overpay a new employee in this way, if a manual override has not been done. Ideally, Xero would calculate the expected hours for a salaried employee based on the start date, but another idea would be to flash up a warning before finalising a payrun with employees that have a start date listed within the pay run period.

  9. I was requesting for "Account Type" and "Source" as options that can be added to "Journal" report.
Staff replied these options are available in "General Ledger Details" report and "Journal ID" is also available in "General Ledger Details" report now.
However, the "General Ledger Details" report does not have accounting entries posting date and who was it posted by.
Please add (1) "Account Type" and "Source" to "Journal" report, or (2) "Posted Date" and "Posted By" to "General Ledger Details" report.

Hi community, this is possible via the use of Lock Dates in the organisations  Financial Settings.

You have two optional date settings:

    1. One date that applies to all users except Advisers
    2. A date that applies to All users, including Advisers

These prevent the relevant users from adding or making changes before these dates.

  11. The split screen when sending an invoice makes everything cluttered. I already approved the invoice, I dont need to see it as I add an Email address

Sorry to hear you don't like this feature, Richard. We've heard from others that this helps them get a better picture of what their invoices will look like when sending to a customer and enables them to make changes on the fly without having to preview or send a copy to themselves first.

Appreciate it might not be everyone's cup of tea and while we don't have any plans for removing this atm, we'll get a sense of the interest through the idea here.

  12. When on the awaiting payment tab for invoices - having a small notes section visible so you don't have to go in and view each invoice to see if there are any notes. For example if an invoice is dispute and the payment expected date isn't known it would ideal just to see it at a quick glance.

  13. On Classic, we could attach supplier & subcontractor invoices to our invoice when we sent it to clients. We haven't been able to do this since moving to the new invoices. We've reached out to Xero regarding this and the help we have been given has been generic and not at all related to the problem we've sent screenshots about. Very disappointing. What happened to a member of the team accessing our setup in a meeting (??Teams or Zoom etc) and working through the problem with us. That used to happen in the past but that personal touch that made…

Hi Glen, sorry to hear you've not had the best experience recently when seeking help. Generally our team are happy to arrange a call if requested and do offer screen meets to troubleshoot issues.

We know some customers were finding the upload files option a little tricky in new invoicing and recently we released a enhancement that now allows you to drag & drop files anywhere on the screen (rather than directly onto the Files attachment window). I believe this should resolve the issue you've noted, and would recommend giving it a try but please do respond to my update if you're still having any difficulty with this.

  14. Add a best before/expiry date to the product information to give a more comprehensive overview of stock.

  15. The new invoicing update has significantly slowed down my workflow. Previously, the sales account category and GST were automatically applied to all line items on draft invoices created via Projects add on. Now, I must manually input these details on every line, and I can’t save the draft invoice without doing so. We have very long invoices and this is now causing a lot of extra work. Opening case requests has led to empty promises that the developers are aware and are onto it and so I'm posting here in the hope that Xero might listen to this request…

Hi there 👋, appreciate you raising this through product ideas in the hopes of getting more attention for this issue.

I've taken a look and can see your communications with our Xero Support team, and that this has been raised directly with our product teams. While I have also shared your feedback directly with product on this, I want to be open that the best method to stay updated will be with our specialists via your case on Xero central. As soon as they have any updates they will share with you. I'll soon remove your post from the ideas forum here.

In the meantime, as they suggested the best solution would be to raise the invoice through Sales and then assign the invoice to your Project.

  16. Add a date option on the Taxes and Filings tab to add the PAYE payment date. This would easily show if the payment has already been set in advance without having to log into internet banking to double check.

  17. The option to choose a date to send EE payslips would be a huge help , when you are running multiply payrolls this option would be invaluable. I may run a payroll on the 10th of the month yet payday is 30th so need to remember to log in and send payslips on the 29th. Takes a lot of time up.

  18. I would prefer that the dates displayed on the Payroll Activity Details & the Payroll Employee Summary reports are the beginning and of the pay period.
I have found that some of my clients get confused with the way those reports are currently issued, using the payment date.

  19. Turnover per XERO and VAT declared Net Sales should be ideally Equal ,however often may not match and therefore need reconciling-which is important to understand the difference from both the YE accounts and HMRC point of view .

There should be a report in XERO which can facilitate this reconciliation rather than use spreadsheets -which is time consuming when the information is already existing in XERO

One of difference arising is -"The Date" invoice created and approved -are different and will report in different periods of the VAT return and Xero Sales Nominal Account

    Example -Invoice created and left…

  20. I would like to complete a 'proper' bank reconciliation.
To be able to enter a figure from a bank statement and have xero compare that to the bank figure in xero for the same date. This feature is available in the package with the very annoying tv adverts and in old school sage.

Hey community, 👋 thanks for supporting this idea. I'm popping in to switch it across to delivered!

Our new bank reconciliation reports allow you to manually enter the closing balance of your account for a set date at the top of the report. This then shows in the report as the bank statement ending balance.

For more information check out our Bank Reconciliation reports support article 😊
