Invoice | Less clicks for printing PDF and sending receipts
The 'new' format has made it exceptionally tedious to accept payments and send receipts. PLEASE streamline it
- Put the send receipt link back on the payment confirmation page
- Allow easy tab/character type to select things
- Open PDFs in browser with the print feature triggered like every other commerce website does. LESS CLICKS!

4)…3 votesHI team, appreciate your feedback here however there are a few ideas in the one. There was a recent change that we've made for the first point here where you'll find confirmation and option to send receipt is now shown once you've added a payment to an invoice.
In relation to printing an invoice - from feedback we received the team have updated this flow so now a PDF of the invoice will be directly downloaded when you click Print, rather than having to go to a separate browser tab. If you'd like this to be a direct action to print from the invoice itself you can follow and join this idea.
In relation to keyboard entry and tabbing through invoice fields, you can use Tab to move to the next field over and Enter will open the field so you can enter data. We have a larger idea…

Invoicing | History - Show detail of action made
With the currect feature History and note report we are able to see which invoice for example has been edited - change name of invoice - reconciled etc. However we would like to have a more detailed view, for example if an invoice is booked in USD and someone will change the currency in EUR we are not able to see this change , we can see only that the invoice is edited by X person but we are not able to see the change. How can we have this feature?

Email invoice address to depend on customer department
We are using the Xero API to post invoices from a POS system we have created.
Our customer some large customers with multiple departments. They would like to specify which email address the invoice is sent to.The simplest solution would be to include the email address in the invoice data sent from our system to Xero. (If omitted, the main email address for the customer would be used.)
A more secure solution would require that the email address be one of those entered in Xero for the customer or their contacts.

Invoices - Include field for phone number when adding new contact from Invoice
When you invoice a new customer you get the option of "Add address" which is great to quick add their email address and postal address. Can this also include adding the phone number? Currently the only way to add the phone number is to go into contacts and add it that way but to me it is a much more important detail than postal address. If I need to chase up anything to do with the invoice i don't send the customer a letter, i call them so i do need to input their phone number and just want a…
4 votesHi team, this is now possible. Within new invoicing you'll find we've enhanced the contact card that allows you to add or edit contact details on the fly. From this card you can now add or edit the Contact name, Email, Billing and Delivery address, and Phone number. 🙂

Invoices - Add customer's ageing summary under their latest invoice
Including an aging summary of the respective client in the latest invoice would provide valuable insight and enhance the document's effectiveness.

Invoice - Ability to transfer name and address directly to Label Printer

It would be so much easier if having entered the name and address on an invoice we could then print the name and address directly onto a label writer (something easily done using Sage software). We are a publisher, selling books via a website to people who usually only ever make one purchase, so we don't want to create an unnecessarily massive contact list. New Invoicing | Copy to - Purchase order
When a selecting the new invoicing platform, you lose certain functions.
The first function that has been lost is the ability to copy invoice data to a purchase order - this feature needs to added to the new platform as some business use this to purchase items that have been sold from a supplier and makes sure there are no errors.
The second function is when invoicing from Project the time entered for that project is no longer being allocated to an invoice and showing in the project as not invoiced, this will cause doubling up on billing.159 votesHi everyone, we appreciate your continued input and feedback on this feature here. Being able to copy to purchase orders and bills is something our team are monitoring feedback of closely and very much across the this idea, however there are a few other priority pieces of work that are currently of focus.
Right now, it is still possible to copy an invoice to a purchase order or bill from the list views(Draft, Awaiting approval, Awaiting Payment or Paid tabs). You'll find you can select the invoice/s and click 'Copy to...' - You can find out more detail and ways of doing things within new invoicing through our guide on Xero Central.
We'll keep you in the know here of any progress or updates for this feature.

Hidden field for invoice in the API
Ability within the API to assign hidden data to an invoice. The additional field can be a string(255) that can accept data in any format (e.g. JSON), or any other format of data an internal system might need.
This would enable other systems linking to xero to pass specific data to and from internal systems and link invoices back using the API.
We currently pass some data using the reference, but this is visible to customers on the invoice so can cause confusion and it not as useful as passing JSON data.

New invoicing - show account column after saving
I've noticed in the new invoicing that the account column disappears when it is saved. While I don't want the account column shown on the actual invoice, I use this saved version in Xero to check that the correct account has been selected. I will not switch to new invoicing until this option is available as it would be extra time to edit the invoice to see which account was selected. Classic invoicing is a much better experience in my opinion.

Along with other enhancements this encompasses moving details into their own columns including the Account column. We appreciate your feedback and sharing on how this change could improve the experience for you.

2 votesHi Kyle, it's necessary to have some limits in place to prevent performance issues, and I want to be open that we don't have any plans to increase these in the near term.
I'd recommend raising a case to connect with our Xero Support team where our specialists can get more detail from you to understand how you use Xero and possibly make suggestions so you can still achieve what you need using Xero.

Sales Invoices - Ability to specify a % of invoice held on retention
We would like to indicate a specific percentage of retention money held by our client on our sales invoices to them. This retention is then payable to us after a specific amount of months.
We also need a way to keep track of the total amount of retention held by a client
35 votesHi community, in lieu of having a direct feature for this I wanted to highlight the option shared earlier on in this thread (Thanks Peter!) for those it may help.
As mentioned, currently you could enter a separate line on the invoice, with a negative amount for the retention value, and code this to a 'customer retentions' account in the Balance Sheet. You could also add a comment in the Description field, indicating the cumulative retention value.
The Account Transactions Report can then be used to manage the values being carried forward.
Being open, this isn't something we have planned for development at this time, however we'll continue to gather the interest here, and if there's any changes we'll let you know.

Purchase Order - Change Contact when copying to Invoice
Have also the change payee option, From copying the Purchase order to Invoice, so the customer from PO will remain in supplier contact lists only.
2 votesHi Janilyn, appreciate it's not an option when going through the copy to process. However, once the invoice is created you can click the 'x' next to the contacts name to remove and type the correct customers name.
If the previous contact has only had purchase transactions entered for them, once you've remove them from the invoice they should not be shown in the customers list in your organisation.

I get a lot of requests from clients that they would like their sales reps to be able to send statements this is not possible from invoice only settings. |Please add statements as optional field
Further to select certain customers access to certain users as different sales reps do not want see all the sales reps sales numbers
