  1. On the invoice template a mandatory field to be completed of the business email address. Majority on Xero invoices sent don't have an email address which makes it difficult to contact the business via email.

    Thanks for the confirmation, Andrew and Sue. While it's possible to add the organisations email in the Contact details field of a Standard branding theme, and could be inserted as Static text on an Advanced template, appreciate there is no specific field for this atm, and why you may like to make this mandatory or a default on the template.

    We'll leave your idea for making this mandatory here and you may like to also join this idea for providing as a specific field for this in advanced templates. Being open it's not something we have direct plans for atm, but we'll keep an eye on the interest here and share if there's any plans made.

  2. Allocate specific tracking categories to transactions instead of showing every category when a transaction is created.

    Currently all tracking categories show when creating a new spend/receive money. In our business one of these categories is used for timesheets only. I would like the option to be able to choose which tracking categories display when creating new spend/receive money transactions in Xero, in the same way that I am able to do this for payroll and on invoicing.

  3. We need to be able to send reminder letters through Xero but as and when, and to all customers, not just those that have fallen overdue since turning on the function. We have just migrated and have to go through each account and send an email outside of Xero to chase these so therefore no audit trail. This seems a key feature which is missing and easy to implement.

    Appreciate you raising the idea, Emma. To round back and confirm current functionality - If needing to send emails for invoices to multiple customers at once you could use the email feature from the contacts list view - See our Xero central article for detail on this. 

    If it's something you'd commonly do you may like this article in helping you set up email templates where you could create and save a custom template that you'd use when sending an overdue invoice. 

    It'd be good to hear if there is detail that this method doesn't help you resolve, that we can share back with our product team. 

  4. As payments are applied to invoices or bills, you can't see the description detail on a cash basis report (no problem with an accrual detailed general ledger though).

    The old general ledger (export function) enabled you to see the description on both accrual & cash.

    Seems illogical?!

  5. Our work is often quoted at the project level, with invoices being issued monthly for the duration of the project until the quoted amount has been paid and the project completed.

    Currently, we create the quote, and then subsequently create invoices - manually keeping track until the quoted amount has been invoiced, at which point we mark the quote as invoiced.

    It would be helpful if;
    - We could split the quote into N invoices automatically with the total invoiced amount over N invoices equalling the amount in the selected quote.

  6. The Dashboard panel "Invoices owed to you" shows the number and total of
    * Draft Invoices
    * Awaiting Payment
    * Overdue

    Having a fourth line showing Unsent invoices would quickly notify users of those approved invoices which haven't yet been sent, whether intentionally or in error.

  9. To add a tick box when converting from quote to invoice to keep quote date and not for it to default to today's date. Similar to the option to mark as invoiced or not. It would be great if the date does not default today's date if it is revised but stay on the original quote date. Once the quote is accepted and it is converted to an invoice, we please need the ability for the quote to stay on the original quote date and not to default to today's date.

  10. Being able to access supplier invoices using the link in the email. Currently we can only access the invoice related to the email. When trying to view other outstanding invoices, I get the message that I don't have permission to view that page and to have my access upgraded even though I have full access (bar subscriber). It would be great to be able to, as a bookkeeper, access other outstanding invoices. A lot of clients will use the link, see that they can access the other invoices, and not see an issue.

  12. It would be really good to have a tick box on the Invoice creation page similar to "GoCardless: Collect ASAP" which would cause the payment to be collected ASAP as opposed to on the Due Date of the invoice.

    For customers who already have a mandate set up via GoCardless, using "+0 days" for Repeating Invoices or "Today" for standard invoices as the Due Date resolves the problem in a way - the money is collected ASAP.

    But for customers who do not have a mandate set up, things get even more complicated.

  13. Using the new Contracts form, when verifying a subcontractor, you are now asked to enter the CIS Tax Rate (Gross, 20% or 30%) before you verify the subcontractor.
    You cannot save and verify with HMRC unless this field is completed. Without verification, you cannot be certain as to the tax rate.

    The error could occur where you choose a rate for the purpose of being able to 'save and verify'. If the verification failed and you required to speak to the contact, or in most cases wait for HMRC to add a subcontractor to the CIS scheme which is currently…

  14. I wish to see if invoices are paid on unpaid when pulling account transaction reports.

    Accounting - Account Transaction Report - Columns - (add if we can see if bill/invoice paid or unpaid)

    Apologies for not seeing your response here sooner, Jayden. Thanks for sharing that image. I do hope you've got your answer already but to confirm for anyone viewing here - That screenshot appears to be the Account Transactions report. 

    To view paid or unpaid invoices or bills you'll want to run the Receivable or Payable Invoice Detail reports. This is a slightly different report to what you're looking at and can be found in the Payables and Receivables section of the reports centre. 

  15. Currently a client can upload a number of invoices and then create a batch payment for these invoices. When they make a payment for 1 of the invoices in the batch, you have to remove and redo the payment then match the separate invoice up, and then recreate the batch payment, excluding the amount which has now been paid. Would be easier if like with invoices, the batch payment could be split, saving the new to remove and then recreate the batch payment.

    Hi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding the ability to split batch payments when reconciling, and understand it currently takes extra steps to reconcile when a single invoice among a batch has been paid, or when there are multiple payments to the same entity for different invoices.
    Being transparent, we don’t have direct plans for making this change within the foreseeable future but if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

  18. Could we implement an option to pay an invoice via bank transfer when a customer clicks on the 'pay now' link on an invoice?

    At the moment, most of the connected services are done via card and may have fees included on top of what the customer already has to pay.

Having recently started using advanced templates for our invoices, I've discovered that credits applied to invoices don't show separately and instead get added with payments, thus showing as net payments. I believe the credits field is only available for use on advanced statement templates so can the credits field be made available for adcvanced invoice templates please?

    That would then give us the ability to display the total amount credited on an invoice and the total paid towards it on separate lines.

  20. Please please please Xero can you work on a proper Square bank feed integration so we don't have to keep using Amaka or other 3rd party connection apps!!!
    Why can't we connect Square as a bank account with a feed similar to Stripe?!?! We are in 2024, square has been around for 15years!!

    I have so many issues with Square! And it is one of the most widely used payment processors!

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on a direct bank feed for Square. We understand that using a third-party integration isn't always seamless and that a direct feed, like the one for Stripe, would make life easier when reconciling your payments.

    As noted by others here, the current solution is to connect an app from the Xero App Store to bring your Square transactions into Xero, or you can continue to manually import these. 

    Right now, building a direct bank feed for Square isn’t in our plans. We're continuing to monitor the interest in this idea, so please keep adding your votes and comments as it helps us see the demand.
