Ability to attached files to a pay run and employees
Hi everyone, we'd like to return with an update for all who've supported the idea for attaching files within Payroll.
As we develop foundations of payroll to enable us to consider new features like this, we're beginning discovery of how we might build this capability and when this could be planned in our roadmap.
This is just the initial stages of diving deeper into this work, but steering in the right direction.
I'll be sure to share any progression around attachments within payroll with you all, here.

I agree this would be a very useful tool. Unsure why it hasn't been done yet. I currently set up a Contact for each employee as you would a Supplier or Customer which has this facility already.

Please add an employee folder to save data to - I am sick to death of having folders everywhere
on my desktop for such information when It could be all saved to the individual employee in a folder in there file. Much better time & information management -

I agree. We should be able to Store employee's documents under their card called e.g. "Documents". drag and drop or upload function.

Would be great for running commission pays with a report on what they are being paid for.

Perhaps there are additional security considerations that make this more involved. As a bookkeeper I can see this feature would be very useful.
As an employee I don't think I would want any documentation that potentially had all of my identifying information potentially together with my signature in one place digitally. I would not give my employer permission to save my information into Xero because of this issue. -

this seems like a really obvious requirement and I would think easy to implement from a technical and UI perspective.

I agree this is much needed for small businesses to keep track of any written correspondence from the employees as a back up to manual filing of documents.

This would be a great addition, considering you can save a lot of files across the platform with exception to the Payroll component

It would be very handy to be able to attach sick leave and holiday requests to employee files rather than storing externally.

Need to be able to attach PDF to notes section in Employee file - eg new employee contracts, sick leave document etc etc

Having a secure and central place to store employee documents would a great feature. Such as TFN declarations, employee details, contracts, other signed agreements and leave requests. These would all be good reference points in the result of a dispute or fairwork enquiry which would help with full transparency.

In Xero there is no secure place to store employment documents such as employment contracts, communications with employee, signed TFN, Super choice forms, manually calculations of LSL, back payments & the list goes on...where only a Payroll Administrator would be able to view the document.
If aTAB was created in the employees card as Chloe Miller suggests, or the NOTES tab could be upgraded to include attachments the isssue would be resolved.
Larger employers are using employment apps to do this, however most small employers are still using the old filing cabinets. It becomes a bigger issue when a bookkeeper is running payroll or an accountant is externally working in a file and they do not have visual on documentation required for individual employees

It could be very handy to send out CEIS to all casual employees on a weekly basis than to track their start date as the Workplace laws for casuals have now updated.

Hi, I would appriciate if we can attach pdf files to a pay run and email them to the employee with the payslips.If you could please enable the option to add attachments on the notes section on the pay slip , that would be very very useful.

The ability to upload docs to an employee file is a critical fix that must be addressed by Xero.

It would be hard to overstate how beneficial and helpful this would be for users.
It keeps all their stuff together and accessible in Xero - which is how you got us excited about the rest of the app in the first place.This saves us having to have external solution providers or unwieldy off-line or paper based systems, and it keeps us locked into the Xero eco-system.
The Notes section has nothing to do with STP2 and this could have been easily resolved by now given Xero's expertise and online digital storage.
The delay is a lost opportunity - ignoring your higher value (payroll) customers in favour of third-party app connectors...
