Files - Bulk export/print attached files
Ability to export and print files from Xero in bulk.
Purpose: To have backup files and audit purposes.
Thank community, we appreciate all your involvement on this idea. We understand the ability to bulk export or print attached files would be a huge time-saver, especially for year-end audits, client communication, and general record-keeping.
We’ve evaluated the complexity of this feature against other priorities on our roadmap. Atm, this isn't in our plans however we'd like to explore bulk downloading of files from Xero in the longer term. I'll share an update when we're able to give more attention to this, here.
For the meantime if this is essential for you right now, you may like to explore third-party integrations through our Xero app store which could meet your needs here.

It doesn't look like Xero has the intention of incorporating this feature anytime. I followed the suggestion of another user, and have been saving my support separately in Sharepoint. No use waiting around for xero to implement the feature.

Message to Xero: I originally commented on this earlier this year and now having read through recent comments and frustrations, as well as perspectives on your (Xero's) attitude towards not wanting to incorporate this feature I feel so angry about it that I too, will be saving all my files separately in preparation to stop using Xero. Totally outrageous!! I will also actively discourage anyone I know from joining up and encourage people already using it to switch. Let's all vote with our $$ and leave.

We absolutely should be able to export bulk files from Xero. This is a critical backup function. In this day and age of hacking we need to be able to back up files easily.

I have only just found out that this feature is not available - how can this be when we are given to understand that all you have to do these days is upload a photo of your receipt and hey presto, all the work is done for you - and a copy of the receipt/invoice is held as a PDF against the transaction - all great until you need to retain copies for audit / VAT inspection / retention of files at company closure etc. Then I'm told I have to go and download each receipt/invoice individually - for hundreds of items??? I wish I had kept all the original documents in files now, like I used to before the "digital" age....I'm at a complete loss here as to why I can't download all the PDFs....??????

The idea is not to fly away but adhere to mandatory requirements. Google provides full data export (well in a ****** .json format) so Xero shall abide. If the product is good and prices competitive, people / companies will stick around.

I seriously feel that some consumer legal action be taken against Xero for this flagrant and deliberate avoidance of adding this obvious compliance audit requirement. This has been brought to Xero’s attention years ago and they simply ignore the poor rubes that are locked into their system. They obviously don’t have much faith in their own system - because they think people will leave in droves if this basic feature is introduced.

Could someone in New Zealand find a regulation that would enforce Xero to implement such feature? It's not a nice to have, companies must be able to bulk export data from critical systems.

It would certainly save a lot of time, as we prepare a PDF (source documents/bill and approval audit trail from ApprovalMax) of all bills paid in the batch for review prior to release in the bank by our Directors. As they may not have necessarily been involved in the approval process of each individual bill so therefore would like sight of it before approving the bak transfers.

Need to be able to export all attachments associated with billable/reimbursable expenses. Clients need the supporting documents. Downloading them one by one is highly inefficient Lots of duplication of effort

I would like to be able to download all the attachments I've put in Xero each year as a backup in case Xero ever goes down or I need to provide to an auditor. Downloading them one at a time isn't a good use of time so a bulk download would be really nice.

It is odd that this isn't a function, since you can upload in bulk. It would be very useful for uploading into Dext to save time

There is also another post about this. Its ridiculous that this isn't an option - and no way of backing up attachment pdfs.

ALL: This feature suggestion has been posted since Nov. 18, 2013 with 180 votes and it has still not been implemented. My suggestion is that we save whatever is uploaded as attachments to our company hard drives and use that as our back-up. Xero is clearly not in a hurry to add this feature so we shouldn't rely on them.

Ability to back up all data and attachments is critical given moves toward paperless offices. Copies of bills are uploaded into Xero and are the only way to access this information. Back up of payroll data including Employee information is also critical to allow uninterrupted ability to process payroll.

Xero clearly don’t GAF about it’s users as I don’t think I have seen a response to any of these comments on a critical required feature! It is so obvious they will never introduce this feature because if they do, users will have a reason to leave their system. It is a joke IMHO that Xero claim to be ATO compliant when they don’t even have this simple feature which is an audit requirement. Everyone is so polite in this forum - but I am ******!
