Hey Xero, Brent Doven, and any other Xero staff member who wants to reply to this thread with some half assed response, instead of actually DOING WHAT IS NEEDED!
Clearly YOU GUYS (Xero) don't operate your own businesses!!
EG,
Lets say you operate your own business, you have a guy (Buffo) who works the forklift and manages the location of stock on the warehouse floor. Sometimes Buffo needs to update the descriptions of stock on the floor, or add a new item etc..
Question;
Why the **** does Buffo need to see the balance of the companies bank accounts to do his job ?????????????? ffs

I contacted xero support today regading the issue, response as follows:

We understand your frustration with this as this is a feature many users of Xero want implemented into our product, I can also see based on the comments of the Xero Product Idea that other users share the same opinion.

Our Product team are working hard in introducing and updating new features inside Xero all the time to support our customers needs. We’re currently unable to provide a timeframe as to when any changes may be made, however it will be taken into consideration for future developments in Xero.

In the meantime, the best way to get in touch with our Product team on your issue, is to vote and comment on the Xero Product Idea itself.

We do apologise for any inconvenience caused."

For everyone who is following this functionality request closely and need it as desperately as my business does...I reached out to Xero Support about this particular item. The response I got is that it is not in their current pipeline for development.

Maybe we need to get more people onto requesting this functionality to show its actual importance.

Hi Xero it’s been a while since this request has been created and we still can’t give access to products and services to our admin team. It should be an easy fix.

This is a shocking oversight on the part of Xero. Why would I want my inventory person to have access to my bank accounts??? This makes the inventory function useless for anything except a single-user business.

It's even more frustrating that people have been asking for this fix for years and Xero is just ignoring us.

Xero could fix this in an afternoon if they cared to do so.

Baffling they aren't reverting to what they already had in place re access ................... worked perfectly well 🤷‍♀️

It is difficult to understand why this isn't taken more seriously by the developers. After browsing through the many comments, this is an very key issue for many of its customers. Most other accounting software product recognize the need to user access and security as an important business function and have more dynamic user controls. These are essential internal control requirements. Xero should take this seriously and redevelop the user accessibility settings.

This is critical and Xero team needs to rethink about the user permission page.

Why would I want a member of the admin team who needs to access products and services seeing the business bank balance? This is a no brainier!

require access to inventory and tracked items without exposing the dashboard containing all the financials and bank details to the staff

Really hurting our business admin not having this feature, please implement

I need invoice + inventory + products access but not to bank accounts. Please actually do something about this.

This is a critical feature for our business. We have administrative staff needing access to Quotes and Product and Services but not the bank account transactions. More granularity for user control is required.

This update is critical for our business. I've just employed an office worker with the invoice only user role and she needs access to add and update product information to complete her job.
I imagine there would be a lot of businesses that are in the same situation and need this update.

Customisation of access levels would solve these issues. For example, Xero could have default/standard access levels as there is now, but also have the option to design our own access levels would be a significant improvement to the program because at the moment the lack of flexibility is making it hard for all different types of businesses to fit into this cookie cutter program.

So the Xero support case that I logged responded and said that the user can add inventory items - however I have gone through his Xero profile and nowhere is there any option for him to add a new item. He can type a description for something and invoice it out, but then it is not tracked and completely circumvents the stock system and hence stock variances will occur.
Xero - please can you urgently look into giving permissions to invoice roles to add and edit stock items. Judging from the comments below, this is a crucial feature.

This has recently become a problem for us... consider this Xero... do you think it is appropriate that someone who manages stock is automatically granted the ability to see all staff salaries because the permissions are not granular enough?

Less focus on the pretty... more focus on the functional please!

This is important to clients. That not all employees have access to veiwing the bank, but can update product listing

We also have the same requirement - access to stock items without access to bank record.
