Dashboard - Edit dashboard layout
Dashboard- It would be great if Xero gave us more options to edit out Dashboards. Two colums are not enough, at the most I get to see four accounts before I have to scroll, they needn't be so large either. If they had three colums, and we could shrink the size of the 'boxes' then we could easily see a better snapshot of work to do and where the business is at.
Hi team, we appreciate all the feedback we've received from our customers about the Dashboard and how we could improve this for you.
As you may have seen or perhaps even have access to already - over the coming months we are releasing a new Xero Homepage that'll replace the existing Dashboard.
We've done lots of research and testing with our customers for the new homepage. You'll be able to customise to show which widgets you want, and it's built with updated technology so is much more responsive - adapting based on your device, screen size and zoom functions to show a maximum of 4 widgets side-by-side!
I'll update you again here when this is live to you all, and if you'd like to give it a go now - jump on into the demo co 😊

Another recommendation would be to reinstate the "re-check VAT status" button on the VAT Return widget, as there is plenty of space, rather than an added click for the one item in the drop-down menu.

Thanks for mucking up another thing on xero, trying to make the desktop browser work like the mobile app.
While I understand the intent behind the recent UI updates, the transition to fixed-size widgets and automated column fitting has removed the flexibility required for an efficient dashboard. Previously, I was able to maintain a specific layout for bank and invoice/bill tracking; however, the current 'autofit' behaviour forces a reshuffling of widgets regardless of browser width based on the two new fixed-size widgets. I would recommend reintroducing manual placement or a 'compact' layout mode to restore user control over the workspace.

I just got the new dashboard and it's atrocious. It's visually jarring, hard to read, takes up too much space on the screen, and is obviously meant to be a mobile-first design, which is something we never use.
Meanwhile, you haven't changed anything meaningful - like the "last 6 months" widget that's utterly useless. You can't change the timeframe (YTD with comparisons to previous year is way more useful than just the last 6 months).
Additionally, you can't set up the columns in any way other than a flowing grid, which is annoying. I just want my list of accounts on the left and basic financial data on the right. but it won't let me have a list on the left that's longer than the columns on the right, instead it overflows those widgets out of the column where I want them.
Please do not force this change and allow use of the old layout indefinitely. Don't be like Quickbooks, forcing changes on users who don't want it, especially when the design is this bad.

The new dashboard/homepage means we have to go through more steps to find the things we want to access. E.g. ‘contact’ used to show along the top of the dashboard. Now we have to click on 2-3 steps to find them, taking way more time. This is only 1 of many more examples. To email an invoice, ,where’s ’email showed straightaway as an option, now we have to click on the 3 dots & specify, another several step process to get an everyday task done.

Fully agree. Users should be able to customize grid to suit their needs. 2 accounts per row is very clunky and time wasting scrolling up and down.
PLEASE can Xero Team look at this - does not seem like a major change but would be a game changer. -

Agreed - More customisation here is a must. Most monitors would easily be able to display a 3*3 or 3*4 grid of Dashboard widgets.

Agreed, with an option to edit the font so it's not bold and easier to read.

I agree - the dashboard in Xero is clunky! A quick browse on those of competitors shows that they are certainly trying harder. The fact you can't even include the "Overall cash balance" on the web version (just Android and IOS) is quite telling. I guess they keep it this simple to make it work on the web and a tablet?? I think we are all grown up enough to cope with something more detailed...

Plus one for this. Seems a simple gui change that would have a fairly massive impact

With two columns, only four dashboard panels can be seen at once. A simple enhancement would be to have an option to allow three columns, and then we can see six panels at once.
Ideally, it would be great to have a free format dashboard so each user can organise it depending upon their screen size. -
