  1. Make the Verification fields mandatory in individual records if practice has had to register under rhe new AML/CTF obligations. Could be something in the user practice settings that if the practice has registered with Austrac that they switch this on so all individuals are verified when being set up or could just be mandatory for all. Also add 2 more fields to the Verification to meet the AML requirements: AML Client Risk Rating (CRR) – Low Medium or High
AML CRR Reason – enter the reason you gave the client the above rating

Thanks for sharing this idea about client verification mandatory for individual records, and adding fields for AML client risk rating and the reason for that rating.

If this would help your practice as well, please add your vote and comment with a brief example of your workflow. Details like whether you currently track this outside Xero, how often it creates extra admin, or what information you need to capture for AML/CTF purposes will help show the impact and build support for the idea.

  2. Please allow tasks set up under Business - Settings - Tasks to be made inactive by master administrators so that they no longer show up in the list of available tasks to be added to jobs for team members.

We've had a number of tasks that we set up to track/monitor key items like jobkeeper or specific reporting periods that are no longer required/relevant.

While they have been removed from tasks within job templates, if a team member wants to add a task to a job/job template they need to scroll past many many tasks that no-one is using anymore…

Thanks for sharing this idea. We understand you'd like the ability to archive unused tasks in Xero Practice Manager so they no longer appear when adding tasks to jobs or job templates, while still preserving historical records.

We've moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand how many customers would find this helpful. If this would improve your workflow, please add your vote and share more detail in the comments about how you'd use it and the impact it has on your practice.

We review the ideas with the most support as we plan future improvements, and we’ll keep this idea updated here as it progresses 🙂

  3. Search or sort for specific Jobs in XPM, such as all Jobs for Management accounts or VAT, In the Job manager it show all the jobs but i can not search or sort basies on type of Job. Adding this will make this tool better for managment

Thanks for sharing your feedback here. We understand the request to add job type as a search or filter option in Xero Practice Hub. Having this available could help you find the jobs you're looking for more quickly and manage your workload more efficiently.

We've updated this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If this would improve your workflow, add your vote and share your thoughts with us.

  4. We need to run a report showing the taxable income of all our individual clients (from the tax returns filed), to find those that are over the maximum liable earnings for ACC.

From there we check for clients who may have had more than one employer and therefore paid more than the maximum ACC levies, so we can contact ACC for a refund.

When we were using MYOB, taxable income was a field included in the tax letter reports so we could download and filter from there.

Apparently there is no way to get this data out of Xero, as…

Hi Kathryn, thanks again for sharing this idea.

I can see why having taxable income available in reporting would be useful, especially when you need to identify clients who may be over the ACC maximum liable earnings threshold and then follow up on any possible refunds.

We’re moving this idea to Gaining support so others in the Community can vote for it and add their use cases. That helps us keep an eye on interest and better understand the impact this would have for practices using NZ Tax.

If anyone else in your practice would benefit from this, please encourage them to add their support and comments too.

  5. The current calendar in practice management under Jobs->Jobs manager->Important dates would only show jobs that are already created. However, for recurring jobs that's done routinely it doesn't show up in advance as they only generate on the planned task date. For example, if I do job A every Monday and it is something usually finishes on Monday too, and today is a Tuesday, then I don't get to see my next Monday's schedule ahead of time. For management and organisation purposes, we need to have these recurring tasks planned at a future date generated for the foreseeable future, which means…

Hi everyone, thanks for the engagement on this idea. We can see how being able to view future recurring jobs on the calendar could make it easier to plan workloads and manage capacity.

Currently, recurring jobs only appear on the calendar once they've been generated. As a workaround, you can configure recurring job templates to generate further in advance, allowing upcoming jobs and their assigned tasks to appear earlier for planning purposes.

I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If there are particular planning timeframes or scheduling workflows this would support, we'd love to hear more about them.

  6. At the moment, we can only print the tax return to show the TFN before changing the status to out-for-sign. The option should be available at all times to enable printing the tax return with the TFN when required. We have received a few requests from banks asking for the tax return with the TFN, but we aren't able to reprint it once it is lodged.

Hi Ribert, thanks for highlighting this. We can see how being able to print or download a lodged tax return with the TFN visible could be helpful when clients need to provide documents to banks or other third parties.

Currently, the option to display the TFN is only available before the return progresses beyond certain stages of the workflow. Once lodged, the TFN is masked on generated copies to help protect sensitive information.

I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If there are particular scenarios where you regularly need to reproduce lodged returns with the TFN visible, we'd appreciate hearing more about those use cases.

  7. IRD have requested that we file a IR3R for each residential rental property. It would be great to be able to include this submission with the tax return in XPM, instead of having to file this manually via MyIR. Please update the system so that this can be submitted together with the IR3 via XPM.

  8. Add Client Name within case email confirmations to assist with identification, currently we receive emails into a shared email address where anyone in our xero team could have raised a case for any client, the email we receive does not have the client name for quick identification so could this information please be added into the email text?

Thanks for sharing this. I can see how including the client or organisation name in support email notifications would be helpful.

Hi team, this idea has been created off the back of an original post here to get a better idea of the interest for being able to hold selections across status lists within AU Tax.

While we don't have immediate plans around this it would be good to gauge the wider interest in this from the community here. Thanks

Hi everyone, we have started this idea off the back of the original post here so we can get an understanding of support for being able to show or hide columns on a user basis within AU Tax.

Being upfront, we don't have any plans for this at present but would like to get an idea of the interest through this idea.

  11. Under Collaboration Manager, please add the option to include or exclude completed jobs/quotes from the displayed list and search results.

This functionality should allow users to easily filter between active and completed items, as well as allocate unallocated jobs/quotes to either open or closed jobs.

This will improve operational efficiency by eliminating the need to first reopen a completed job merely to allocate an item and then close the job again afterwards.

  12. It would be nice if client that need to sign the report were able to be send an electronic copy and are able to sign electronically via the ask function. Instead of needing to use a third-party application. It would greatly assist with record keeping and making sure all the imported items are stored withing one app.

  13. In the new Xero Practice HQ, it is very annoying when adding in a new client who is an individual. You need to scroll all the way down to business structure to select business structure, change it to individual, and then go back to the top to add in date of birth and gender. Makes the process of entering a new client in much more tedious than it needs to be.

Hi Louis, thanks for raising this idea. We can see how moving the business structure field to the top of the new client setup form could best suit certain workflow.

The idea is to move the business structure selection earlier in the form, as this choice influences the information needed later in the setup process.

We'll continue tracking engagement and support from the community here.

  14. Why will the IR3 Tax return not let you claim the IETC for the number of months a client is entitled to, before Best Start payments start. It will calculate the IETC for the 9 months in the return but as soon as the Working for Families schedule is added with the Best Start Payments boxed ticked it changes the calculation to NIL.

You would think that the IETC calculation would remain or could be manually over-ridden so all calculated amounts would show on the tax summary for the client. This could be flagged when an audit of the tax…

Hi Joanne, appreciate you raising the idea with us here.

Just to confirm how this currently works - in the Xero Tax IR3 form, IETC is tied to the income amount entered in the return. The question that asks whether they're eligible is part of the form logic, and will determine if your income or status is non-qualifying. If this is the case it'll mark IETC as unavailable.

While we'll get a sense of the wider interest in a change for this here, we want to be upfront that we don't have any short term plans for changing this forms logic.

  15. Would be great if you could add estimated time budgets to tasks at the recurring job level, rather than having to manually add them each time a new job is created from the recurring template.

Having the ability to set time budgets at the recurring job level would save time, particularly for annual accounts jobs where the estimated time is consistent.

Hi everyone, appreciate all the engagement on this idea. We understand why having time budgets saved and carried over on recurring job templates could be valuable, especially for practices managing recurring work and monitoring team capacity.

The idea is to allow estimated time budgets set on a recurring job template to automatically flow through to each new job created from that template, reducing manual updates and helping teams track expected effort more consistently.

We'll keep track of the votes and feedbacks on this idea to continue gauge interests.

  16. To have the ability to record odometer readings, start, finish & business/private use.
Then automatically apportion the business use component against vehicle expenses.

For instance the Australian rules require 12 weeks minimum of logbook entries. More entries = more accuracy.

This could also be a great feature to 'sell' XERO to new customers.

Thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you Duncan. At the moment , the best option is to look for a connected app that allows you to achieve this. You can check out our Xero App Store. If you need further assistance, we'd recommend raising a case with our support team as well. We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

  17. Xero Tax no longer supports management expenses (eg for investment companies), which are a common requirement. This used to work fine. The workaround recommended by Xero Support is to incorrectly include management expenses as operating / trading expenses, then make them disallowable and include them separately as a management expense. This mess is all visible on the CT600 and needs fixing.

Thanks for raising this idea with us, and for clearly explaining the impact it has on your workflow. 🙂

We understand the need for Xero Tax to better support management expenses for investment companies, especially where the current workaround creates confusing or incorrect presentation on the CT600.

We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest from the community and help our product team better understand the value of improving this area.

If others are affected by this as well, it would be helpful to hear more examples of how this impacts your filings and any risks or extra work it creates for your practice.

If there are any updates or plans made around this, we’ll share them here.

  18. This may not gain much traction with established partners, but for those of us who are new to Xero and are working to establish a business, the requirement to sign on a client within 60 days is a problem. At one time, the requirement was 90 days but was shortened to 60 in 2017.

It should, however, not exist at all.
Note that your closest competitor has no such requirement.

What management may not realize is that it comes across as a threat from the beginning, which frankly stopped me from signing up for the program for a while. Now…

    - Telephone ###

Hi Christopher, appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this. While STP prefill helps reduce manual entry, we understand there are times where additional detail is needed to complete the return.

Having a clearer breakdown of allowances within the tax return could help reduce manual work. We’ve updated the status to Gaining Support so we can track feedback and share interest with the product team.
