  1. It would be useful to have settings to setup multiple emails on a clients record for different purposes. This would improve accuracy in communications and sending of documentation when managing clients.

We're interested to understand the interest in being able to add multiple emails to a clients record, for the purposes of setting these up for different purposes.

It would be great to hear more detailed feedback from our partners on the particular purposes you'd want to set up emails for and how this would help you through Xero's practice tools. Thanks!

  2. Following the XPM updates in November and December 2025, the Tax Returns and Notes tabs no longer indicate whether a client has any open tax returns or existing notes.

This indicator was previously used to quickly identify active items on a client without needing to open each tab, we are particularly missing the notes indicator.

As similar indicators are still shown for Jobs and Invoices, it would be helpful for consistency and usability if this functionality could be restored for the Tax Returns and Notes tabs as well.

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this. We appreciate you sharing how the number indicators for Tax Returns and Notes helped streamline your workflow in XPM.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

  3. Following the XPM updates in November and December 2025, the star indicator within client groups that identified the main entity has been removed.

This indicator was heavily relied on to quickly identify the primary entity within a group. Please reinstate the star or an equivalent visual marker so the main entity can be clearly identified at a glance.

    Thanks

  4. When using Xero Practice Manager (XPM) for job management, it’s incredibly difficult to maintain visibility because there’s no audit trail or history log for key actions like:

    • When a job was created or reassigned
    • Who changed the job’s due date or status
    • When a job’s responsibility moved from one team member to another

This lack of transparency makes it almost impossible to track accountability or performance accurately.

    Why is this so important?
As a firm, we track job completion and lodgement performance, but without a history log, we can’t see whether a job was reassigned after the due date or…

Hi community, we appreciate hearing your interest around the reports that would be useful for you to use in Report Templates.

We have decided to split the request for Payroll reports and the Tracking Summary report as it is unlikely these would both be added at once.

You'll find the new idea for the Tracking Summary report across here and this one will remain centered around Payroll reports.

We want to be honest that we don't have any plans at this stage for adding payroll reports to Report Templates. But, our product teams are aware of the interest surrounding this and we'll let you know if there is any progress on this idea.

  6. Xero workpaper functionality that can connect to more than one Xero file to reconcile inter-entity loan accounts, or confirm rental income and expenses, or Div 7A interest and expense, etc.

Eg: Debit loan in Company A, Credit loan in Trust B - can link both totals to see at a glance the loans match on both debit and credit sides.
Entity A pays related-party rent to Entity B - link B's income and A's expenses to see at a glance that the amounts are correct on both sides in both files

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on this idea 🙂

We can see the value in this, managing inter-entity loans more easily across entities in Workpapers, especially where you’re trying to match balances and reduce manual cross-checking. We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so others can vote and add their use cases too. The more detail you can share about how you’d use this in practice, the easier it is for our team to understand the impact and prioritise future improvements.

This is something that’s on our radar, but we don’t have a timeframe to share right now. We’ll continue to monitor the feedback here and will update this thread if there’s more to share.

  7. It would be great to be able to customise if the fields are mandatory or not for new client setups. This would allow us to ensure that the fields we need setup are being setup by the admin team.

Thanks for sharing this idea and explaining the value it could bring to your practice.

We appreciate you taking the time to help us understand the benefit of being able to choose which fields are mandatory on the client profile in Practice Manager, especially where practices need more consistency in the information collected for different client types and workflows.

We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue to track interest and better understand how this would help practices in day-to-day use. If this capability would improve your workflow, please add your vote and share more detail about which fields you’d want to make mandatory and why.

Your feedback helps our team understand the problem and shape future improvements.

  8. Workpapers for Individual Tax Returns - I'm new to workpapers and am still figuring it out. But they seem to be very ledger orientated. It would be good to have workpapers for Individual Tax Returns for entities that don't have a Xero datafile. For example - say salary and wage return. Linked to the tax return to show deductions and income ie - you have that union receipt, the basis you've calculated that work from home deduction, you have that buy/sell statement for the shares sold.

Hi everyone, we appreciate your feedback. Our product team are very much across the ideas in this forum with the new Workpapers solution being progressively released.

Right now, we're monitoring feedback and engagement with the new solution closely and have plans to continue enhancing this product.

I'll be sure to share any progress for Individual Tax returns in Workpapers with you here.

  9. We need the ability to prepare a future tax return for a SMSF as this is required to wind up a fund prior to year end. A trustee company can't be deregistered with the ASIC until a final tax return is lodged with the tax office so the time delay in preparing a future return impacts the client on annual company statements and costs associated with that as well.

The ability to prepare a future year return in Xero tax exists for other entity types but not SMSF's for some reason.

Hi everyone thanks for sharing this idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. Currently they are available at the start of the following income tax year. We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. You can share this with your friends and colleagues who also want to see this feature. We will continue monitoring this space for traction.

  10. Currently, when mapping the chart of accounts from your financial statements in Xero Blue to the tax return labels in XPM, you can only map to labels in the business schedule section of the return.

This means that accounts relating to other tax labels, such as rental property schedules, or other deductions, must be noted as "do not import", and then entered manually.

It would be great if there was the ability to map these accounts, in addition to those relating to the business schedule, as it would lead to further efficiency gains for accountants using Xero's suite of products.

Hi community, thanks for engaging with this idea! It’s already gaining strong traction, and we can see how important this is to many of you.

We understand the value of being able to map general ledger accounts directly to all tax return schedules in Xero Tax, not just the business schedule. This improvement would go a long way in streamlining tax workflows, increasing efficiency, and reducing the risk of manual entry errors.

The idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. Your continued votes and comments help highlight its importance and guide our product team's priorities.

  11. Following the XPM updates in November and December 2025, on the client screen in XPM, the contacts section no longer displays a contact’s mobile or phone number. Only the name and email address are visible, which means you must open each contact to check whether a phone number is recorded. Previously, having the phone number visible on the main screen made it much quicker to assess contact details at a glance.

Restoring the display of mobile and phone numbers in the contacts area would improve usability and avoid unnecessary extra clicks when a number is not listed.

    Hi Mireille,

Thank you for the detailed feedback regarding the recent XPM updates.

I’ve moved this into Gaining Support. I can definitely see how the removal of those phone number columns has added extra steps to your workflow. While the recent design updates aimed for a cleaner look, "at a glance" information is vital for busy practices.

A quick tip for now: If you need to see phone numbers across your client list without clicking into each one, you can customise your main list view:

    1. Go to Clients > All Clients.
    2. Click the Columns button on the right.
    3. Tick Phone and Mobile. This will surface those numbers in your main list view so you don't have to drill into each record.

I’ve updated the title to "XPM - Suggestion to display contact phone numbers on the Client details screen" to help other practice users who are feeling…

  12. Recent change in XPM has moved the old/archived jobs and invoices to a different tab. I prefer the old layout where you can see the current and old jobs all in one place/screen.

The archived or old jobs have been moved to a different tab which means you cannot see both open and closed jobs at the same time. We rely on this when preparing annual accounts and tax returns because we often review all invoices or jobs for a full financial year, we hardly ever are only looking at the open jobs or invoices. The issue is we can…

Hi everyone, upon further deep diving into the discussion raised here we are going to re-open this idea. We appreciate how being able to see both active and archived Jobs within a Client is useful to some practices workflows. We will be sure to share if there are any plans made around this with you here. Thanks

  13. Very disappointed to hear that you haven't considered how the new reporting standards for Tier 3 entities is going to effect the reporting templates i.e. the requirement to split grants into multiple sub-categories, which is only one area of the new reporting standards that needs to be expanded.
Would you be able to make this a high priority for the product team and provide a reasonable timeframe as to when this will be considered for further development as obviously we need to meet our obligations and your reporting mapping is no longer going to make this easy for us given…

Hi community, thanks so much for the great feedback so far. The changes to Tier 3 reporting standards - especially around grant categorisation are clearly important, and it’s great to see this idea gaining momentum quickly.

This request is now in the Gaining Support stage, so it’s on our radar for further consideration. If you’re using Tier 3 reporting, we’d love to hear more about what specific features or improvements would help you most. Your input really helps guide the product team’s priorities.

Please keep the votes and comments coming. We’ll be sure to share updates here as we learn more. Thanks again for being part of the conversation!

  14. Add a custom column similar to a custom row into reports.

This would be used to include quantities for livestock reports, for automating % of trust distributions payable to beneficiaries prior end of June.

This currently can't be done in reports.

Thanks for sharing this idea and for explaining the practical ways this could help in your reports.

We can see why this would appeal to firms preparing financial reports.

We’ve updated this idea so it can gather wider visibility and input from the community. From here, other customers will be able to add their support, vote on the idea, and share more detail about how they’d use this in their own workflows. We’ll also continue to post any future updates on the idea here so you can follow along with any progress🙂.

  15. Have a workpaper for motor vehicle private use adjustments with calculators for FBT, logbook, and mileage reimbursement. Be able to have more than one like the home office workpaper does. And have this roll forward like the home office one does so that you can see the method used by the client and the FBT/logbook values etc.

  16. XPM has been updated recently (April 2025) and the update has removed the re-ordering of tasks function. We used the re-ordering function to put all tasks in chronological order e.g. monthly payroll tasks, VAT returns, year end accounts were all arranged in date order. Since the update all the re-ordering that we have completed on jobs have been changed and now all tasks are non-chronological and in a jumbled order. This is very frustrating. Please could Xero re-instate the ability to re-order tasks as required? These changes are a backwards step.

  17. Since the recent XPM update in Nov/Dec 2025, it is no longer possible to edit an existing contact unless an email address is populated. An email address is now treated as a required field when editing, even if the contact previously existed without one.

Creating a new contact without an email address is still allowed, which makes this behaviour inconsistent. Being able to edit existing contacts without needing to add an email address would restore flexibility and better reflect real-world client contact records.

Hi everyone, we appreciate the engagement from you all in this idea.

Right now, we do not have plans for adding asset worksheets for Foreign Rental Capital allowance, or Capital works in the Income Tax return.

We will continue to keep a close eye on the interest for these through this idea, and share if there are any updates.

  19. In the bank account tab it would be good to have a tick box where you can select the accounts you want in your report. I have some client with 6 or more different bank accounts. If I only have two with un-coded transactions, being able to tick those two and then run the report would be practical and easier for my clients to follow.

Thanks everyone for sharing your feedback and adding support to this idea.

We understand there are situations where being able to select a combination of bank accounts in the Uncoded Statement Lines report would be helpful, particularly for practices working across clients with multiple accounts. Having that added flexibility could make the report easier to tailor and share in the way that best suits each workflow.

We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue to track interest and better understand the impact for customers using this workflow. Please keep voting and sharing examples of how you use the report, as that context is really helpful for our product team when reviewing ideas.

  20. The process for entering addresses for clients needs to be easier and more streamlined. It should default to Australia (the overwhelming majority of clients have Australian addresses). You should also be able to copy street address to postal address, rather than having to reenter the data.
