Clients - Ability to set an email for a specific purpose
It would be useful to have settings to setup multiple emails on a clients record for different purposes. This would improve accuracy in communications and sending of documentation when managing clients.
100 votesWe're interested to understand the interest in being able to add multiple emails to a clients record, for the purposes of setting these up for different purposes.
It would be great to hear more detailed feedback from our partners on the particular purposes you'd want to set up emails for and how this would help you through Xero's practice tools. Thanks!

Report Templates - Trust tax rate 39% 2025 and 33% in comparatives in annual accounts tax note
The NZ tax rate for a trust's income tax has changed in the 2025 tax year from 33% to 39% when the taxable income in the trust is $10,000 or more.
At present we are not able to have a different formula in comparatives to the formula in current year, so a modification to the If( . . ) statement in the current annual accounts tax note cannot be made that would work for 2025 and comparatives. At the moment the only solution available per Xero Support is a custom line, with accounting staff manually entering the tax payable amount…
67 votesThanks for raising the idea with us here, community.
Currently, there's no functionality in Xero to have a single row have two different formulas for each column, or have two columns appear when grouped. (Example, the 2024 column cannot be calculated with 33% tax if the formula for the row is calculated with 39%)
Right now as Paul's noted 🙏, we'd recommend using a 'Custom' row in the Notes report and have the row heading be similar to 'Tax Payable (33% 2024, 39% 2025)'.
In doing so, you'll then be able to manually input the figures into this section of the notes report after you click 'Update layout'.
We don't have any immediate plans for developing this capability, but I want to assure you interest for this has been shared with our product team and we'll update you if there's any news.

Practice tools | Clients - Show indicator for number of notes & tax returns
Following the XPM updates in November and December 2025, the Tax Returns and Notes tabs no longer indicate whether a client has any open tax returns or existing notes.
This indicator was previously used to quickly identify active items on a client without needing to open each tab, we are particularly missing the notes indicator.
As similar indicators are still shown for Jobs and Invoices, it would be helpful for consistency and usability if this functionality could be restored for the Tax Returns and Notes tabs as well.
65 votesHi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this. We appreciate you sharing how the number indicators for Tax Returns and Notes helped streamline your workflow in XPM.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Report Templates - Add Payroll reports
add more reports into report template, for example payroll report and tracking summary. Thank you.
64 votesHi community, we appreciate hearing your interest around the reports that would be useful for you to use in Report Templates.
We have decided to split the request for Payroll reports and the Tracking Summary report as it is unlikely these would both be added at once.
You'll find the new idea for the Tracking Summary report across here and this one will remain centered around Payroll reports.
We want to be honest that we don't have any plans at this stage for adding payroll reports to Report Templates. But, our product teams are aware of the interest surrounding this and we'll let you know if there is any progress on this idea.

Workpapers for Individual Tax Returns
Workpapers for Individual Tax Returns - I'm new to workpapers and am still figuring it out. But they seem to be very ledger orientated. It would be good to have workpapers for Individual Tax Returns for entities that don't have a Xero datafile. For example - say salary and wage return. Linked to the tax return to show deductions and income ie - you have that union receipt, the basis you've calculated that work from home deduction, you have that buy/sell statement for the shares sold.
52 votesHi everyone, we appreciate your feedback. Our product team are very much across the ideas in this forum with the new Workpapers solution being progressively released.
Right now, we're monitoring feedback and engagement with the new solution closely and have plans to continue enhancing this product.
I'll be sure to share any progress for Individual Tax returns in Workpapers with you here.

AU Tax - Expand Financial Mapping to Include All Tax Return Schedules
Currently, when mapping the chart of accounts from your financial statements in Xero Blue to the tax return labels in XPM, you can only map to labels in the business schedule section of the return.
This means that accounts relating to other tax labels, such as rental property schedules, or other deductions, must be noted as "do not import", and then entered manually.
It would be great if there was the ability to map these accounts, in addition to those relating to the business schedule, as it would lead to further efficiency gains for accountants using Xero's suite of products.
…
50 votesHi community, thanks for engaging with this idea! It’s already gaining strong traction, and we can see how important this is to many of you.
We understand the value of being able to map general ledger accounts directly to all tax return schedules in Xero Tax, not just the business schedule. This improvement would go a long way in streamlining tax workflows, increasing efficiency, and reducing the risk of manual entry errors.
The idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. Your continued votes and comments help highlight its importance and guide our product team's priorities.

Xero AU Tax - Ability to prepare a future year tax return for a SMSF
We need the ability to prepare a future tax return for a SMSF as this is required to wind up a fund prior to year end. A trustee company can't be deregistered with the ASIC until a final tax return is lodged with the tax office so the time delay in preparing a future return impacts the client on annual company statements and costs associated with that as well.
The ability to prepare a future year return in Xero tax exists for other entity types but not SMSF's for some reason.
48 votesHi everyone thanks for sharing this idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. Currently they are available at the start of the following income tax year. We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. You can share this with your friends and colleagues who also want to see this feature. We will continue monitoring this space for traction.

XPM - Audit Trail for jobs in XPM
When using Xero Practice Manager (XPM) for job management, it’s incredibly difficult to maintain visibility because there’s no audit trail or history log for key actions like:
- When a job was created or reassigned
- Who changed the job’s due date or status
- When a job’s responsibility moved from one team member to another
This lack of transparency makes it almost impossible to track accountability or performance accurately.
Why is this so important?
As a firm, we track job completion and lodgement performance, but without a history log, we can’t see whether a job was reassigned after the due date or…47 votesThanks for sharing your feedback on introducing audit trail functionality to XPM. Report Templates - Tier 3 Report update
Very disappointed to hear that you haven't considered how the new reporting standards for Tier 3 entities is going to effect the reporting templates i.e. the requirement to split grants into multiple sub-categories, which is only one area of the new reporting standards that needs to be expanded.
Would you be able to make this a high priority for the product team and provide a reasonable timeframe as to when this will be considered for further development as obviously we need to meet our obligations and your reporting mapping is no longer going to make this easy for us given…47 votesHi community, thanks so much for the great feedback so far. The changes to Tier 3 reporting standards - especially around grant categorisation are clearly important, and it’s great to see this idea gaining momentum quickly.
This request is now in the Gaining Support stage, so it’s on our radar for further consideration. If you’re using Tier 3 reporting, we’d love to hear more about what specific features or improvements would help you most. Your input really helps guide the product team’s priorities.
Please keep the votes and comments coming. We’ll be sure to share updates here as we learn more. Thanks again for being part of the conversation!

Practice tools | Clients - Jobs & Invoices view 'Archived' in the main tab
Recent change in XPM has moved the old/archived jobs and invoices to a different tab. I prefer the old layout where you can see the current and old jobs all in one place/screen.
The archived or old jobs have been moved to a different tab which means you cannot see both open and closed jobs at the same time. We rely on this when preparing annual accounts and tax returns because we often review all invoices or jobs for a full financial year, we hardly ever are only looking at the open jobs or invoices. The issue is we can…
45 votesHi everyone, upon further deep diving into the discussion raised here we are going to re-open this idea. We appreciate how being able to see both active and archived Jobs within a Client is useful to some practices workflows. We will be sure to share if there are any plans made around this with you here. Thanks

XPM - Suggestion to display contact phone numbers on the Client details screen
Following the XPM updates in November and December 2025, on the client screen in XPM, the contacts section no longer displays a contact’s mobile or phone number. Only the name and email address are visible, which means you must open each contact to check whether a phone number is recorded. Previously, having the phone number visible on the main screen made it much quicker to assess contact details at a glance.
Restoring the display of mobile and phone numbers in the contacts area would improve usability and avoid unnecessary extra clicks when a number is not listed.
42 votesHi Mireille,
Thank you for the detailed feedback regarding the recent XPM updates.
I’ve moved this into Gaining Support. I can definitely see how the removal of those phone number columns has added extra steps to your workflow. While the recent design updates aimed for a cleaner look, "at a glance" information is vital for busy practices.
A quick tip for now: If you need to see phone numbers across your client list without clicking into each one, you can customise your main list view:
- Go to Clients > All Clients.
- Click the Columns button on the right.
- Tick Phone and Mobile. This will surface those numbers in your main list view so you don't have to drill into each record.
I’ve updated the title to "XPM - Suggestion to display contact phone numbers on the Client details screen" to help other practice users who are feeling…

Workpaper | Fringe Benefits - Motor Vehicle private use
Have a workpaper for motor vehicle private use adjustments with calculators for FBT, logbook, and mileage reimbursement. Be able to have more than one like the home office workpaper does. And have this roll forward like the home office one does so that you can see the method used by the client and the FBT/logbook values etc.

Practice Manager - Re-ordering of tasks on a job
XPM has been updated recently (April 2025) and the update has removed the re-ordering of tasks function. We used the re-ordering function to put all tasks in chronological order e.g. monthly payroll tasks, VAT returns, year end accounts were all arranged in date order. Since the update all the re-ordering that we have completed on jobs have been changed and now all tasks are non-chronological and in a jumbled order. This is very frustrating. Please could Xero re-instate the ability to re-order tasks as required? These changes are a backwards step.

XPM - Allow editing existing contacts without requiring an email address
Since the recent XPM update in Nov/Dec 2025, it is no longer possible to edit an existing contact unless an email address is populated. An email address is now treated as a required field when editing, even if the contact previously existed without one.
Creating a new contact without an email address is still allowed, which makes this behaviour inconsistent. Being able to edit existing contacts without needing to add an email address would restore flexibility and better reflect real-world client contact records.

Xero tax (AU) - Foreign Rental Schedule Capital allowance and Capital works Asset worksheets
Can you please add the ability to create a Foreign Rental Schedule Capital allowance - Asset worksheet and Capital works - Asset worksheet in Income Tax Returns
37 votesHi everyone, we appreciate the engagement from you all in this idea.
Right now, we do not have plans for adding asset worksheets for Foreign Rental Capital allowance, or Capital works in the Income Tax return.
We will continue to keep a close eye on the interest for these through this idea, and share if there are any updates.

NZ Tax - Auto Allocation option for Partnerships, Trusts & LTC's
Would be good to have an "Allocate" command button so income, deductions, tax credits are split automatically as per the percentage for each individual in a trust, partnership and LTC company. It is time consuming when there are multiple individuals and varying percentage splits.
36 votesWe're grateful for your engagement and letting us know the changes that matter to you.
We've reviewed your idea to add an auto allocation button and it can now gain support from other community members.

Clients - Main entity star indicator in groups
Following the XPM updates in November and December 2025, the star indicator within client groups that identified the main entity has been removed.
This indicator was heavily relied on to quickly identify the primary entity within a group. Please reinstate the star or an equivalent visual marker so the main entity can be clearly identified at a glance.
Thanks

Clients - Default address to practice region e.g (AU)
The process for entering addresses for clients needs to be easier and more streamlined. It should default to Australia (the overwhelming majority of clients have Australian addresses). You should also be able to copy street address to postal address, rather than having to reenter the data.
33 votesHi Megan, thanks for your feedback on the new Partner Hub experience when entering client addresses. Your input is valuable to and appreciated. We have moved this idea to Gaining Support and the Product team will be looking over all the feedback from our customers/partners so they can get a better idea of the experience and functionality of the new platform. Thanks again for sharing this with us.

XPM - Increase visibility of group name on group screen
Since the recent XPM update in Nov/Dec 2025, the group name is less prominent on the 'group' screen, and does not stand out as clearly as it did previously.
The larger group name made it easier to identify which screen you were on, which is especially important now that many screens have a similar layout. Increasing the prominence or size of the group name again would improve clarity and usability.
31 votesHi and thanks for sharing this idea!
It’s great to get such specific detail on how the visibility of group names impacts your workflow, especially when navigating between multiple screens in XPM.
I have moved this into our Gaining Support category.
This means other members of the community can now vote on your suggestion, which helps our product teams gauge interest and prioritise future UI refinements. We’ll keep a close eye on this one to see how much traction it gets. Thanks for helping us improve the XPM experience!
Kind regards

Practice tools | Clients - Return to group view when navigating back from a client
Since the recent update in November/December 2025, when navigating back using the back arrow from a specific client, the system returns to the full client list rather than the client’s group.
It would be more helpful if the back arrow returned users to the relevant group view instead of the full client list.

Your suggestion is open for community voting. Feel free to share the link with your team to help gather support!
