  1. When using the old reports, when you opened them up they would show the current month. Now they show 12/31/22 which is useless now that we are into March. They should either default to prior month (which is what QBO does) or current month (which is what Xero used to do).

  2. Just looked at the new Aged Payable report > Aged Payables Detail - it doesn't show credit notes which been allocated to invoices. This is very confusing as we can't reconcile against the statement. Please review the report and add in credit notes, even if they have been allocated to the Invoices, or advise which report I need to use when reconciling the account.

How can i run both the above reports in a way whereby all the Balance Sheet items are on top in alphabetical order follow by all the P/L items thereafter in alphabetical order

    Can anyone help

Hi team, coming back to the idea here, although it's not possible to group by in the General Ledger Summary report, you'll find you include Account Type as a column, and re-order by clicking on the column header which may help some of the needs here.

  4. The filter right now only allows to select all or select/deselect some, but sometimes it would be easier to be able to just exclude something (an account, a group of accounts, a contact, an invoice etc).

  5. For large farms/orchards or multiple businesses in the group, needing a P & L each for each Farm and Orchard. Then a combined statement P & L bringing all the totals together with the group overhead expenses. Currently have to do separate custom reports in Xero then paste in, would be good to have it all formated in one spot not doing multiple reports and copying and pasting. Currently using another accounting software provider to do the financials and only using Xero to collect the date, would be good to have it all in one spot

Hi Tracey, appreciate it's been sometime since you initially raised your idea here. Not getting any community support this will soon be removed from the forums. However, taking a read through it may be worth looking into Tracking to see if this feature could be useful to track expenses for each orchard/farm. The P&L could then be set up to provide columns of the expenses and revenue for each orchard comparably. Thanks

  6. Journal Accrual or Cash Basis default setting and journal import column.

Default journal setting in is Xero is to post on a cash basis - apply a settings to select which basis is the default method (Cash or Accrual)

Import journals on accrual basis - add an extra column to the import template to state if the journal is accrual or cash basis or a default setting if blank.

  7. The attached post indicates that Xero has delivered the ability to hide archived files by unticking the "Show Archived" box in the account transactions report and then saving it as a custom report. I have tried this, but it doesn't work. Every time I go into my custom report which should have the Show Archived box unticked it is always ticked and the archived accounts are showing. Could you please look at this again.

Hi Sally, appreciate the image back to the earlier update you're referring to here. Is it possible that the custom report you're using was saved prior to the update and needs updating with any new setting changes and then saving again to hold these for future use?

If you're still finding the same behaviour, I'd highly recommend raising a case with our team of specialists at Support so they can dive into why settings you've saved in a custom report aren't being applied. Thanks

  8. Ability to choose a cost limit for a fixed asset when the depreciation method is set to 'Full Depreciation at Purchase'.

For instance a car is purchased for over the cost limit, therefore only $64k or so is able to be written off immediately with the balance to sit as an undepreciable amount.

Currently the full depreciation at purchase method writes off the whole amount, and diminishing value at 100% with a cost limit will still pro-rata the depreciation for the year and not write off the full cost limit amount.

  9. Adding tracking categories to VAT return/reports:

I would like to run a VAT return/report per quarter to be shown by tracking category rather than as a whole. There is not an option on the current VAT report to add the tracking categories, therefore I think this would add benefits to any client that uses tracking categories for departments.

Hi everyone, we appreciate you continuing to share how important Item Code is for your reporting workflows.

From some of the feedback here, the Inventory Item Details report could be of use. It'll show inventory activity and can include purchase and sales details from bills, invoices, Spend Money, Receive Money and inventory adjustments.

You can also customise the report to show fields such as contact, date, description, source, quantity, unit cost, unit sale price and value movement, then export the results for further analysis.

We know this isn't within the Account Transactions report, and doesn't provide the account and tracking view with Item Code as requested directly here.

We’ll continue to consider your feedback and these different reporting needs.

We're keeping a close eye on the support for this idea, and I'll share if there are any updates.

  11. At the moment, only the Australian version of Xero offers a tax depreciation function. We hope that this feature can also be added to the New Zealand version, which is where Xero was originally incorporated.

Gotcha, thanks for rounding back, Kieran. Get where you're coming from especially if you often update or add accounts.

We don't have any immediate plans around this but we'll keep an eye out and let you know if there's any plans to change, here.

  13. I was requesting for "Account Type" and "Source" as options that can be added to "Journal" report.
Staff replied these options are available in "General Ledger Details" report and "Journal ID" is also available in "General Ledger Details" report now.
However, the "General Ledger Details" report does not have accounting entries posting date and who was it posted by.
Please add (1) "Account Type" and "Source" to "Journal" report, or (2) "Posted Date" and "Posted By" to "General Ledger Details" report.

  15. New General Ledger - It would be good if you can have the option to have the code number first before the account name

This will make looking for items easier

Hi everyone, while we appreciate feedback we've received in this idea I want to be open that we don't have any plans for changing the ordering of columns within the General Ledger Summary report in the near term.

In the General Ledger Details report you'll find you can reorder columns, and can summarise by if you'd prefer a more compact view. It's also possible to re-order in both reports by clicking on the column header of the run report.

  16. I need the option to auto reverse repeating journals to be available. This is neccessary for accruals.
Auto reverse is available on regular journals but not repeating.

  17. In the old reports, once the account was added to a subgroup, the account code would automatically be in alphabetical order. However, this is manual for the new reporting.

A good function would be to automate this in the new reports as well (per the old reports) rather than dragging and dropping manually.

  18. Currently, the accounts you choose for fixed asset additions and accumulated depreciation are also used for disposal and depreciation on disposal. It would be helpful to be able to choose different accounts for the disposal transactions from those used for additions.

For example, fixed asset additions would go to an 'additions' account, depreciation in the year goes to a 'depreciation charge' account. Disposals go to 'cost of disposals' and 'depreciation on disposals accounts'. This keeps everything separate and mirrors the corresponding figures required for Ltd Company statutory accounts in the UK.

Being able to choose different accounts makes it easier…

  19. When I reconcile a transaction in my bank account I can enter a "Why". I.e. Gas for Youth Hostel. So when I have multiple transactions to the same customer, under the same Chart of Account I can differentiate them.

However, this data entry can not be pulled into a report. This is really hampering my ability to differentiate my transactions.

Hi Stephen, is there a specific report you've been running to try include this data?

When creating a transaction during bank rec, the 'why' is saved as the description of the transaction. You should be able to  run the Account Transactions report to view this detail in the Account you've coded payment too. Let me know how you get on. 🙂

  20. Need option to display supplier bank details when running the supplier payments bank report. Key for bank approvers to easily verify bank details for supplier payments.

Hi community, thanks for your conversations here. Your feedback highlights how useful it'd be to see supplier bank details directly in the Payable Invoice Details report.

We understand the value greater customisation and a broader range of selectable data would make this report more useful across different payment and approval workflows.

Though this is not in our immediate pipeline right now, we’re taking your feedback on board as we look at how reporting can better support these needs over the long term. We’ll share if there is any progress.
