  1. I would like to have an option for repeating journals to be done daily. Currently you can only choose monthly or weekly.

Hi team, we appreciate your feedback here, however not receiving much support since started we will soon remove the idea from the forums here.

We are in the process of rolling out our new Manual journals experience however I want to be upfront that an option for daily repeating journals has not been developed in this.

An option would be to create 7 repeating journals one for each day of the week. We totally appreciate this is not the ideal solution you're after however would still enable you to automate the journal posting and save manual entry. Thanks

  2. To be able to view at a glance the 'period taken from a customer to pay invoices' from the Due Date to when the funds have reached the supplier's bank account. This is instead of exporting the Xero report in an excel sheet and then adding a formula to calculate the difference between the two dates. Surely with all the information already stored in the Xero account, this option shouldn't be too difficult to add. Thank you.

  3. It would be very useful to be able to change the names of the General Ledger Account Types. Also Fixed Assets should be changed to Capital Assets because Capital Assets is really the applicable term because not all Fixed Assets fixed. Machinery, equipment, rolling stocks......

Aaah thanks for the clarification, Vicky and Alex. You could use the Management report to add the Top Customers report. Appreciate that the chart itself displays for Gross figures right now. We'll continue gathering interest for this here.

In regards to the sort order of the report - By default contacts will be sorted by the Gross column, however you can add a Net column and re-sort by clicking on any column header. 🙂

  5. When reviewing a VAT return on the transactions by tax rate tab - there is no way to view the detail if the payment was through an invoice or bill even though you are able to see the detail if it is entered as a spend money or receive money transaction.

Being able to create bills and add attachments is extremely convenient, however, it is not when you are unable to see the detail you have provided when reviewing the VAT return.

Please look into this! Thank you.

Thanks for sharing this idea. After reviewing this we’re moving it to Gaining Support.

At the moment, the behaviour in the VAT return’s Transactions by tax rate tab can vary depending on the transaction type and whether a reference has been entered. However, each transaction type can usually be identified in the current view by what appears in the Reference column:

    • Sales invoices: the invoice number may be shown in the Reference column.
    • Bills: the bill reference may be shown in the Reference column.
    • Manual journals: the journal number is shown in the Reference column.
    • Spend money and receive money transactions: there isn’t a clear label showing these transaction types, however they can often be identified by the lack of detail in the Reference column when compared with invoices, bills and journals.

We understand this can still make it harder to quickly distinguish spend money and receive money transactions when…

  6. Can we please extend the budget manager period from 12 months to more than 3 years or whatever is possible? The data in the budget manager does not go beyond 12 months and if the budget is to be changed after a year of upload it doesn't have such access.
When working for a movie/film-making company the budget runs for more than 12 months and it needs to be changed time and again. But Xero doesn't have such an option which makes it impossible to get an accurate variance.
    It would be great help.

  7. In the Business Snapshot all of the comparatives are to previous year. In a startup this isn't meaningful as prior year balances are nil, but month-to-month or quarter-to-quarter comparatives would be super useful. In established businesses also, monthly and quarterly comparatives can be very useful.

  8. The existing 'Statement of Cash Flows' could be enhanced to be the bridge between the P&L and the balance sheet.
    1. Term debt and cash are netted to give the movement in cash equivalents. If the statement differentiated between 'term' funding (in our case, reduction of term debt) and the 'cash at bank' balance it would better describe cash flows.

    1. Make repayment of loans a 'financing' activity. Currently it is wrapped in 'cash equivalent'.

    2. The flows in Operating Activities would be more meaningful if it highlighted where to see changes. For example, working capital changes in the period under review…

  9. An inventory report - similar to the inventory item summary, but that allows the user to compare figures to prior periods. This will allow retailers and even manufacturers, to easily track seasonal trends in sales.

  10. I would like to put fixed asset categories (plant and machinery, motor vehicles etc) as the columns, and have Cost, Depreciation, NBV - bfwds and cfwds etc in the rows underneath. See attached.

As far as I was aware it was standard to have the fixed asset note in this format so was surprised this was not already a functionality,

  11. Yes that's right. Let's say you pay a subby £150 in advance and allocate that as an overpayment on their account from the bank feed. You then get an invoice from them a couple of weeks later for £500 and deduct CIS of £100 leaving £400 outstanding. You allocate the overpayment from the account of £150 and pay your subby the balance of £250. The system will only declare CIS on the £250 element of what you have paid. You have to know an overpayment has been allocated, reverse it and allocate the payment directly to the invoice for it…

  12. Cost analysis by group type, e.g. we have a group for DD suppliers. It would be useful to analyse how much we spend by group over a set period. We are looking at setting up other groups soon so this would be very helpful.

Thanks for sharing this feedback. We agree that email notifications for upcoming VAT return deadlines would be useful, and we do plan to address this in the future. However, we’re unable to provide a timeframe for when this will be available at this stage.

In the meantime, the VAT homepage widget shows your next return due date, along with a countdown showing the number of days remaining until the deadline.

If you’re a Partner, you can also use Tax manager to view a list of your clients’ upcoming VAT obligations in one place, including their due dates.

We appreciate you taking the time to share this suggestion with us. 🌟

  14. When I run a supplier bill activity report it would be HELPFUL if the description column actually contained the description of the invoices, or at least the start of it. For example, say a supplier is for office rent then I put in the description what period or month the rent is for. Then, if I run a supplier activity report I would expect the ******** description column to show me the helpful description I entered. Instead I get INV Ref: xxxxxx which repeats the xxxxxx from the reference column next to it. Noe useful at all, and the info…

  15. why can't we set up income allocations by %, not jnl , as every time you change something , you need to redo your jnl, update work papers etc. There must times when finals have been sent out ( Urgent) and this has been over looked
This is a rather backwards step, esp when a trust could have 10 beneficiaries and need to do jnls ?!
Would also affect partnerships, they would be the easiest to fix as majority would be a 50/50

  16. We reconcile monthly sales with an internal ordering/salesprocessing system. This is good for checking to see if invoices have been missed and also to make sure that the net sales are the same in Xero too (another fail safe check). There needs to be a sales report that is easy to run off on a monthly basis showing net figures. Currently I have to run a couple of reports off - identify prepayments and delete them in the excel version, then add another column to work out net value. The latter is not always easy as some of our goods…

  17. Account Transactions Report

It doesn't make sense that you can separately select the 'Contact' column and the 'Description' column, but that the 'Contact' details show in the 'Description' column.

It feels like the 'Description' column in the Account Transactions report is wrongly pointing to the 'Contact' data!

If the 'Description' detail is not available in the Account Transactions report, this column should be withdrawn from the options available for selection.

It would be great to get this issue fixed.

Hi team, we want to acknowledge your feedback and the needs you’ve expressed for being able to view the transaction line description in the account transactions report.

While we appreciate not the news you’re hoping for here - we want to be honest with you all that there are no plans at this stage to change the behaviour of this report.

We appreciate there can be some confusion of what is shown as it does differ based on the account and the line’s origin. We have added detail within our Xero Central article, but I’ve also noted below for ease of reference.

    • For accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank accounts, and tax account, it shows the contact’s name.
    • For all other accounts, it shows the contact’s name and the item line description.
    • As manual journals don’t have contacts, it shows narration and description.
    • For wage payments, Payroll Employee displays in…
  18. Accepted Quote Report

Great to see that we can now look at a report for accepted quotes but the report is not filterable by the accepted date - please can this be added to the date search for quote reports within Quotes through Receivable Invoice Details and Summary reports.
At the moment the report isn't right as you can only search by due date and created date which is no good - the accepted date needs to be a searchable date or the quote filtered by accepted quotes is useless if you ant to see what quotes have been accepted…

  19. Sales Tax Audit report is produced only on the organization's base currency.

To be able to produce the Sales Tax Audit report in other currencies as well.

Reason: to be able to extract the report for organisations registered in countries of which currency is other than the Company's base (if also required for the authorities.)

  20. When importing a text block report from Figured into Xero annual accounts template, we have no control over the page breaks. This often results in undesirable page breaks. An ability to add page breaks into a text block would fix this.
