US - Send W-9 request from Organization email rather than Bookkeeper/Accountant email
The new W-9 Request feature is nice. However, it would be even better if there was a way to send the request using the Organization's email address rather than the Bookkeeper's or Accountant's email address. Contractor's might disregard the email request if they don't know who the Bookkeeper or Accountant is and don't recognize the sender's email address.
3 votesHi Lara, while not a complete solution for what you're after as you still need to send from an external email provider - I wanted to share a recent update we've made so you can now link directly to your email client from the W-9 in both Contacts and 1099. We've also provided an email template which you can easily edit to adjust any details you'd prefer such as adding the organisation title. See more on this in our help.

Reporting - Non-financial items such as number of invoices
Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to include some non financial data in zero ledgers for reporting?
For Example - I would like to include a 'No. of Transactions' for a period that would not be a financial number (so no balancing required) but, this number would be available to add to reports i.e creating a cost per transaction.
We used to call these 'SKU's' and generally they would Non Financial KPI's like:- production days, FTE's, LTI's or Units produced.
Any help would be great.

Reporting - Restrict user access to the Edit Layout button in financial statements
We have spent a significant amount of time creating our financial statement templates using the report codes to ensure consistency and quality. Using Edit Layout can cause significant issues, including notes not matching the numbers in the balance sheet. As a result, we require the ability to remove access to the Edit Layout function for selected users.
This is a significant quality and risk issue.3 votes -
Transactions report - all info in one line per transaction (not a second PST line)
Report for "Account Transactions" should only produce one line per transaction.
Currently, the report splits off a separate line for the PST component of each transaction, adding "- PST" in the description and to the contact name, and pulls the PST amount out of "Gross".
I need an account transaction report that includes GST, PST and the unit price in "gross" on a single line per transaction. These gross values will match the bank statement, and have the description/reference/contact and the account(s) the transaction was coded to.
The easiest approach is to have additional columns to select from, and (critically)…

Manual Journals - Predictive text from previous lines
Can we get predictive text in manual journals for words already used within the journal we are working on

Reporting - Combine Bank Reconciliation & Uncoded Statement Line Report
It would be useful if Bank uncoded statement line report could also show outstanding payments & receipts. 9 times out of 10 an 'orange' transaction is a client error, duplicate transaction etc. Effectively this would be a complete list of bank items to be reconciled / fixed ( Ideally with the last month, quarter, financial year filter)

BAS - Remove merge cells when exporting Activity Statement report to Excel
The suggestion is to remove merged cells from the Activity Statement Excel export.
Currently, the Activity Statement export contains merged cells in the headings, which makes the spreadsheet more difficult to manipulate, analyse and work with in Excel. Users need to manually unmerge and reformat the cells before they can easily use the exported data.

new journal
Since the journal page was updated, it's no longer possible to drag the columns horizontally. This makes it difficult to view all of the information within my tracking categories, as some of the details are no longer visible. Could this functionality be restored, or is there an alternative way to view the full details?

Budget Manager - Add a calculator button in cells
Could we add a calculator button in the budget manager cell to do a calculation?
2 votesHi Rowena, thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback on adding a calculator button within Budget Manager cells.
We understand how this could make it easier to perform calculations while working on your budgets. After reviewing this idea, we’ve updated its status to Not in the Pipeline. This means the product team has considered it, but it isn’t currently on the foreseeable roadmap.
The idea will remain open for votes, and we’ll continue to monitor the feedback and support for it. We really value your input and appreciate you helping us shape the future of Xero.

MTD ITSA Allow manual entry of Property Income
It would be extremely helpful if Xero allowed UK Property Income to be entered manually within the MTD ITSA return, rather than requiring transactions to be entered into the ledger or quarterly journals to be posted.
A common scenario is where a sole trader already uses Xero for their business but also has separate UK property income. Whilst it's possible to separate the figures using tracking categories, this still mixes business and property transactions within the same accounting records.
Allowing manual entry of the quarterly property income and expenses for MTD ITSA would:
- Keep business and property records completely separate.
- …
2 votesThanks for sharing this idea. We can see how allowing manual entry of UK property income for MTD for Income Tax would be desirable.
We’ve updated this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand how many customers this would help and the different scenarios people need it for. If this is important to you, please add your vote and share any additional detail in the comments, especially how you currently manage property income outside Xero and where the current workflow creates extra work.
We’ll continue to review the feedback and keep this idea updated here as it progresses.

UK Corporation Tax - End user ability to file (without Accountant)
For small business users in UK who have been submitting their corporation tax returns to HMRC and Companies House using the HMRC online filing service, can we have that functionality in Xero, please? Now that the online filing service is closing, we are stuck with a choice between other filing software (expensive) and paying accountants to file for us (even more expensive). It would be great if Xero could pick this one up, so we can file direct from Xero in the same way as for VAT returns - covering both HMRC and Companies House (including iXBRL) requirements.

UK Tax (self-assessment) - a "completed button" for each tax return section/schedule
It would be helpful to have a check box for each section of the tax return that marks it as completed so you know what is done and what still needs to be done.
We find that we have to continually go back and check which sections are completed and which are not which can be time consuming, especially if you are working on multiple tax returns at once or if you are going between tax returns waiting on information from clients. An overview of some sort or a check mark beside each schedule would be very helpful.
2 votesThanks for sharing this idea, I can see how a clear way to track which sections of a tax return have been completed would be especially helpful when you're working across multiple returns or waiting on client information.
We've moved your idea to Gaining Support so we can gauge community interest and better understand how many others would find this helpful in their workflow.
If this would make a meaningful difference for you, it would be great to hear more about which schedules or stages are the hardest to keep track of today.

Fixed Assets - Option to not print schedule
Could you have on each registered asset a do not print tick box so that when ticked the schedule does not print an asset that has no asset b
2 votesThank you for sharing this suggestion.
We’re moving this idea forward to gather community support and feedback. This will help us understand how many customers would benefit from being able to mark individual registered assets as ‘Do not print’ on the Depreciation Schedule, particularly when an asset has no remaining book value.
Please vote for this idea and add a comment if this would help your organisation. Feedback about your current workflow and how often you need this option will also help us assess the level of interest and inform future consideration. 🙂

Hi Jay, thanks for bringing this Idea to us. We do need more information on which Tax Authority you are asking for this to be added too. As Xero covers the Globe we do need specific details so we can review the Idea correctly. Currently we have assumed this is about US tax authority as you are a US customer but if this is not correct please give us more details so we can adjust accordingly.
This will also allow other to see if the tax authority is the same as theirs so they can vote.

Company Accounts - Pulling resignation dates from Companies House
For Company Accounts - the directors feed from Companies House and include the resignation date in the Company Information section of the accounts. However, the final report doesn't include the resignation date against the director. Whilst, there is obviously a work around to include the date as if it's part of the directors name, it relies on manual intervention and given the information is already there, it seems odd that it isn't automatic.
2 votesThanks for taking the time to share this idea — we can see why this would be helpful.
We've now moved this idea to Gaining Support 🌟. This means we've recognised it as a valid feature request and we're now gathering feedback from customers to help us understand the level of demand and the impact it’s having.
We agree it would make sense for the resignation date to flow through automatically into the final report when that information is already available in the Company Information section.
At the moment, this isn’t done automatically, so the current workaround is to manually include the resignation date in the director details where needed for presentation in the final accounts.
If this is something you'd like to see improved, please add your vote and any extra detail about how it affects your workflow. That helps our product team better understand the demand and the use case.

Reporting - Option to exclude Section 444 (5A) Companies Act 2006 statement from full accounts Balance Sheet.
The Section 444 (5A) Companies Act 2006 statement ("the directors have chosen to not file a copy of the company’s profit and loss account under section 444 (5A) Companies Act 2006")appears on the Balance Sheet in the full accounts. This statement should only be in the abridged accounts for Companies House, The only workaround is to manually edit the pdf, which requires pdf software and takes time. This needs to be amended.
2 votesThanks for sharing your feedback, Keith. We appreciate how having the Section 444(5A) statement appear only where it's applicable could make reporting more accurate and reduce the need for manual adjustments.
We've updated this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community support and sharing your feedback with the team.

Reporting - Include column headers on every page of multi-page report exports
As I inquired on how to modify a report to allow for printing the column headings on multiple pages, Xero Support told me that I should "export the report and add the headings on page breaks".
Come on, Xero. That response was like a QuickBooks response! Surely someone at Xero must realize that when a report spans multiple pages, the user frequently may need to refer back to page one to be sure they understand what the numbers they are viewing are related to. Multiple page reports SHOULD have the column headings repeat on every page the report prints on…
2 votesThanks for raising this idea, Alan. We can understand how including column headings across every page of a printed or exported report could make longer reports much easier to read and review.
We've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. If this would improve your reporting workflow, add your vote and share which reports you use most often where repeated headings would be most valuable.

Account Transactions Report - Limit contacts to filter to those in the account.
When filtering Account Transactions report by contact, show only contacts in the report, rather than all contacts.
Would make conducting a review a lot easier - i.e. if you are reviewing one account in particular.2 votesThanks for sharing this idea Megan. At the moment, while you can filter the Account Transactions report by contact, Xero doesn’t narrow that filter list down to only the contacts that appear in the selected account and date range. Instead, you need to search for and select the contact you want from the wider contact list.
We are moving your idea to Gaining Support. This helps us gauge community interest and better understand how many customers would benefit from Xero surfacing only the relevant contacts found in the report results.
For now, the best available option is to search for the specific contact you want to filter by.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the feedback and update the idea if there’s any progress to share.
