Report Templates - Add Top suppliers and Top customers reports
In Xero HQ when we create a New Template for Reports and add reports according to our preference, We are unable to add reports like Top Suppliers and Top customers report in Xero HQ but those reports are available in individual client's organizations.
It would be great if we can add these reports in Xero HQ so it would be easy to generate month end reports from Xero HQ for all the clients.

Fixed asset - Create from prepayment
There should be an option to enter a prepayment to/from a Contact as such, that is a prepayment. For now, it has to be entered as an invoice. Creating an invoice also creates HST due/credit and it does not follow tax/HST rules because a prepayment is not a sale.

Receivable Invoice Summary - Add 'Due' based on date range of report
Add a "DUE" Column to The new "Customer Invoice Summary" report if it is to replace the "Customer Invoice Report". At the moment the proposed change will remove functionality. We rely on the current Customer Invoice Report to update our cashflow. The proposed "BALANCE" column is not the same as the "DUE" data. "BALANCE" only gives Invoices not paid at end of filtered period rather than what is left to be paid period.
Alternatively..... DO NOT RETIRE THE CUSTOMER INVOICE REPORT!!!!3 votes -
Manual Journals: Backdate repeating manual journals past last financial year
Have the ability to create Manual Repeat Journals for older date ranges (3 years ago). The current restrictions on this should be allowed once a Lock Date is implemented.
Otherwise you get an error like:
The Next Journal Date entered is prior to the start of your previous financial year. This is very fustrating.

Sales Tax Report - View Invoice Number and Reference as separate columns
When setup tax basis: cash basis, the sales tax report could show invoice number and reference by separate column not replace reference instead of invoice number.

History and Notes: Prompt user when there are unsaved changes to notes
Prompt if Changes have not been SAVED
What I would like is, after entering data in the Notes (or Items on Invoice, Purchase Orders etc..) If there are changes to the Invoice/Notes (or any update screen) on the screen BUT if the user does not click SAVE then the changes are lost.
If the invoice/purchase order/notes etc... have had changes and SAVE is not clicked, it would be helpful to have some sort of reminder available that auto prompts you
'Changes have been made do you want to save these?'
or something similar so any work entered, but not SAVED…

Reporting - Custom reports to appear on side bar
Currently if you've created a custom report & then select (for eg) the Budget Variance report from the side-bar, all the customisations you've created disappear. We create these customisations for good reason & rarely do we only want to see the one report in that format, so customisation should carry through to the side-bar reports.

Profit & Loss (Income Statement) - Year to date percentage of income
Regarding the Income Statement:
When the "Percentage of Income" & "Year to Date" options are selected, can we get the percentage of income column to calculate on the year to date column as well?
This would allow for better variance analysis - comparing the current months percentages to the year to date percentages.

Fixed Assets - Prevent posting > 100% depreciation rate
Occasionally when doing data entry in Fixed Assets we have typed a depreciation rate of more than 100%. It would be good if there was an error message preventing this.
Thanks

Profit and loss report to include GST option
Can you raise an enhancement request for the P&L report to give 2 options- Includes GST and Excludes GST to give an option to the user(similar to the current option of Cash or Accrual)?
If a user selects "Includes GST ", a new line item gets added showing the GST account, else default option is "Excludes GST " meaning no change to the current report.2 votesThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Ideas. IMPOVE FOR BETTER ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING
The only thing you seem to improve is reporting, and honestly, I’d bet a lot of people don’t even use those fancy reports because they’re unnecessary.
What’s missing are the basics. You don’t even have a proper general ledger customer or supplier report with running balances. Your customer and supplier reports simply aren’t designed that way. These are essential reports for accountants and auditors.
We also can’t do customer or supplier journals, and don’t even get me started on the lack of bulk offsetting of credits.
I love Xero overall, but these areas need serious attention. You are losing clients,…

Income/Expense transactions "Showing Items" number is misleading
From the P&L report when opening a specific income/expense account, the list of transactions under that account shows at the bottom "Showing items" number, this number includes the first line (title) and last two totals, which can be misleading if one wants to count the number of transactions.
I'd suggest the "showing items" number to only indicate number of transactions.2 votesThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Ideas. We appreciate you taking time to let us know how we could improve Xero for you.

Reporting - Ability to hide Formula Rows in reports if the result is zero
It would be great to be able to hide formula rows in reports where the result is a nil balance. Currently we get multiple repetitive total lines on reports when there is no activity cluttering up the reports unnecessarily.
2 votesHi Kerrin, thanks for raising this. It’s easy to see how automatically hiding custom formula rows with no activity would make reports cleaner and easier to read.
Without this option, reports can feel cluttered. That often means sharing something that looks busier than it needs to be, or exporting the report just to remove empty rows manually—extra work that defeats the purpose of using the report builder.
I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand interest in more report-level formatting options. If you’re able to comment with the specific reports where this would be most useful, it’ll help other users understand the use case and help the idea gain traction.

Disable or hide specific MTD for IT obligations, including the end of year update, from your client's view.

Report Templates - Ability to add multiple rows at once
When editing a report, please make it easier to add multiple rows or columns at once - either by allowing continuous clicking on the "add row/column" button, or by providing more options beyond a 5 x 5 when creating a table.
