Profit and Loss (new): Edit/remove the heading dates
The Profit and loss report: Compare tracking are amazing, but still needs the following:
1 - To be able to edit the heading/remove the dates from the heading (as this is all reading showing on the top of the report, and can be very cluttering if every heading is starting with 1 June - 7 June 2022 ....)
2 - in the old P&L: compare reports, the columns/tracking that was not applicable "disappeared", with the new reports, I'm seeing ALL my tracking that is available, and not only the ones applicable, please do the same for the new reports9 votes -
Reporting - Password Protect option for PDF downloads
SureIy this would be a no brainer??
I'd like an option to download PDFs with a password automatically added.
The password could be added in the company setting pages with the option to download "Protected PDF" when you print a report.
This feature seems so simple to create and i'm not sure why it hasn't been thought of.
This would also save us having to do this manually with every report sent to a client.
Please set this up at it would be a great option for bookkeepers and accountants.

CIS - Verify Subcontractor without specifying CIS rate
Using the new Contracts form, when verifying a subcontractor, you are now asked to enter the CIS Tax Rate (Gross, 20% or 30%) before you verify the subcontractor.
You cannot save and verify with HMRC unless this field is completed. Without verification, you cannot be certain as to the tax rate. The error could occur where you choose a rate for the purpose of being able to 'save and verify'. If the verification failed and you required to speak to the contact, or in most cases wait for HMRC to add a subcontractor to the CIS scheme which is currently…

Trial Balance report: More than 36 months historical comparison
Could we please have the functionality of running TB reports with more than 36 months historic comparative months, thanks
4 votesHI community, thanks for your support here. While this isn't something we have plans for extending comparatives beyond 36 periods atm, it'd be good to get more detail on the ideal # of comparatives you'd be looking to run the report for, and what this would help your business do - Please do comment to share your views.
Other options you'll see you have with the new report, is that you can change the comparative period between Day, Month, Quarter or Year.

Payable Invoice Detail report - Total invoices payable per contact
Enable the Payable Invoice Detail report to total the invoices for each contact. At present the report totals the GST component of each contact's invoices, which I find not at all useful. It would be possible to export the report to Excel, and calculate the totals in that format, but this would be time-consuming.
I use the payable invoice detail report to get approvals for payment. It would be useful for the person doing the approving to see how much each contact's invoices add up to.
7 votesHi team, returning to the idea here I wanted to check if this is still an issue? With the Payable Invoice Details report you'll find you can 'Group by' Contact and there are options to include Balance, Gross Tax and Net columns within the report so you can get a full break down and totals for each.

VAT Reconciliation report - Ability to drill down in the unfiled VAT section
Not sure this is really part of Xero HQ - but it would be really useful to be able to drill down into the unfiled VAT section on the VAT reconciliation report.

Manual Journals: Allow placeholders in standard manual journals
Placeholders are really useful in repeating manual journal entry - could we please have them in regular manual journals?
Oftentimes it will be necessary to repeat a series of manual entries when realising income in advance as revenue however the amounts will vary so a manual journal is required for each instance.
Being able to have [Month] etc in the narration would make it much faster to populate each entry. [Example: "Revenue realised in [Month]"

Management report pack - locking in start dates
We run a P&L Forecast report each month, with 12 monthly columns across the financial year.
Start date = start of the financial year.
Reporting on Month 1, this report shows Actuals for month 1 + Budgets for months 2 to 12, to give forecast total for year.
Reporting on Month 2, this report shows Actuals for months 1 to 2 + Budgets for months 3 to 12, to give forecast total for year.
Reporting on Month 11, this report should show Actuals for months 1 to 11 + Budget for month 12, to give forecast total for year.I…

Xero Reporting for Philippines ( BIR compliance)
People here in PH are starting to use Xero and I think many more will use it too if you create reports that are required by our Tax Authority such as:
Sales Journal
Purchase Journal
Cash Receipts Journal
Cash Disbursements JournalMost of our clients are asking for this. I really hope you will be able to implement this.
8 votesHi everyone, just wanting to highlight that as Caroline has suggested, it is likely the Account Transactions reports in Xero could be used to create the reports required. However, this depends on what information you require each report to contain.
If anyone is able to reply with more specific details on whether any information is unable to be obtained via the account transaction report this will help our product team better understand what's needed.

Fixed Assets | Depreciation - Ability to round to the nearest dollar
Have a choice of rounding depreciation calculations up to the nearest dollar and reporting $ only in the depreciation schedule and other fixed asset reports.
Currently it rounds to the nearest cent.. This does not suit our requirements and so have to prepare our own depreciation schedules outside of Xero5 votes -
GST | Re-registering - Pick start date
Sometimes an entity will de-register for GST because they are no longer required to file, then circumstances change and they re-register. Currently in Xero when you re-register Xero creates all the prior period GST returns for when the client was deregistered. You then have to manually delete all the prior draft returns.
Would be great if you could have an option to choose the new start date for GST.
thanks!

The ability to pay the ATO automatically from Xero would be a really handy feature. Similar to the automatic super payment, this would be a huge time saver.

Hybrid or Modified Cash Basis Reporting
Most of our clients (and I imagine many small businesses in the U.S.) use a hybrid reporting basis. Basically, short term assets and liabilities are recorded using the cash basis while long term assets and liabilities are recorded using the accrual basis.
Therefore, for example, this will result in sales being recorded when cash received but depreciation and amortization expense are recorded monthly. This method of reporting also results in the accounting basis being more similar to tax basis.Xero actually has a webpage describing this (https://www.xero.com/us/guides/cash-vs-accrual-accounting) but states "And if you run a hybrid accounting system, smart…

MTD VAT - Ability to review without connecting to HMRC
Enable users to view a MTD VAT return without requiring a connection to HMRC.
Purpose: Often people who do not have the HMRC gateway details/ability to submit the return via MTD VAT need to review it or answer queries about it before the gateway holder submits it
15 votesHi community, we appreciate the interest for being able to view MTD VAT without needing to connect to the HMRC from those that have voted here. However keeping a close eye on this, and not getting a lot of traction over time we will move this idea to Not in pipeline.
Xero currently requires a connection to HMRC to draw the period of the MTD VAT, and we don't have any plans for developing this functionality.
To re highlight the options in Xero:
- a client could export the MTD return and send it through to their advisor for review, or
- advisors can use the Non MTD VAT return to help their client with the review process - This can be run and exported regardless of MTD credentials.
We understand this is not the news you're wanting here but want to be transparent with you all. Thanks

VAT - Partial Exemption Calculation
Ability to have a VAT partial exemption calculation.
Purpose: Because some industries (e.g. charity) have VAT partial exemption, having this ability would save users time in calculating the VAT.
50 votesHey everyone, appreciate that this idea's intent is to help save user's time in calculating the VAT, but I wanted to share that it is possible to record partial VAT exemptions, for those who aren't aware. We will continue to to track interest in this idea but in the meantime you can:
- Calculate your own your partial exemption adjustment amounts
- Enter them as VAT box adjustments on your non-MTD or MTD VAT return
Alternatively, if you use a set percentage adjustment you could do one of the following:
- Add a custom Tax Rate for your % rate.
- Adjust the VAT on each bill to the amount you can claim. Click the + next to the tax rate to do this. (You'll need to use the 'Amounts are' Tax Exclusive option to see it.)
We recommend you talk to your accounting advisor or HMRC if you need more help with this.
