Hi all, we appreciate the interest and hearing how you find autosave a useful feature when invoicing. At this stage, we don’t have any plans to roll out autosave to the editing of an invoice once it’s been approved.Â
We’ve made some recent improvements to autosave within the draft state of an invoice that we wanted to share with you - Our product team has optimised how invoices autosave to help reduce the lag, meaning invoices load and save faster. Thanks again for your feedback.

Hi community, as mentioned in my last post we want to keep you looped in on changes around autosave.
Our product team has continued to focus attention on how we can make invoicing faster and more responsive to improve our customers' experience.
We've now optimised autosave to require less processing power, leading to faster invoice loading and saving.
While we don't have any plans to remove autosave, there is the possibility that we would make updates to improve experiences related to autosave in the future - I've provided links below to ideas that have been raised and remain open for consideration;
- Invoicing - Undo/revert to previous version of an invoice
- Exclude Auto Save from History and Notes
- Invoices - Add invoice number when invoice is Approved

@Scott Leonard - are they for real?? Quotes =/= Invoices - the legal requirements and ramifications are VERY different between the two functions. Completely leaving aside the dodgy tactic of trying to pit users against one another, they are also deflecting from the main request.
For reference, Pat at Xero Support, that comment was: Put it on a toggle and let an organisation decide whether they want Autosave on any or all functions. that way they are responsible for the legal ramifications, not Xero.

Hi community, we really appreciate your feedback on this and hearing why you'd like to be able to change the organisation's name that's shown when sending invoices from Xero.
This is on our teams radar, and is something they may look into longer term however we want to be open that it's not in the current roadmap.
We'll continue to track and keep across the interest from our community, and if there's any news to share we'll update you on this, here.

Hi community, we acknowledge the strong feelings in this idea and why you need a feature to flag bills directly within Xero. We really appreciate all your feedback and the detailed explanations of how this would help streamline your accounts payable.
We are dedicated to providing a solution for this over the longer term, but this will take some time requiring changes that sit beneath the face of bills.
In lieu of a direct feature for this we wanted to highlight some of the options discussed by the community here:
- Add a note to the bill: A detailed note on the bill itself can serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
- Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Bills" can help you filter and report on these items.
- Adjust the due date: Temporarily extending the due date can prevent accidental payment while the dispute is…

With our reimagined navigation this is something our product teams considered closely, however there is a bit of work involved to achieve what's being asked and we want to be open it's not in the roadmap right now. Thanks everyone for your feedback on the invoice print option. We know how much our customers value efficient workflows, and appreciate you sharing your thoughts on how the current "Print PDF" button works.Â
For those of you looking for a smoother printing experience, a helpful workaround is to set your browser to automatically open PDFs in your preferred viewer after downloading. This can save you a few clicks in the process.
In the interest of transparency, a direct print PDF functionality that go through the download step isn't in our development plans.

Hi team, thank you for your thorough feedback in this idea. We appreciate there are different preferences our users have when approving invoices in Xero and just to re-highlight - there are now keyboard shortcuts available for most action buttons in invoicing to help navigate and quickly select the option you prefer rather than the drop down selection.
Though we understand it is not the news you're hoping here we want to be transparent that there are no plans at this stage to add the ability to set your own default for the Approve button in invoicing.
We will continue to track the support this idea keeps building and be sure to let you know if there is any change to the status of this idea, here.

Please reconsider making this an option a user can set for a default that suits their workflow. While I'm sure Xero's own accounts staff wanted this for their monthly invoicing process, many many other businesses have a workflow for which 'Approve and Email' is potentially harmful to their brand. Digging in your heels on this one is harmful to *your* brand.

Our invoices get sent out in batches by accounts, from among the ones the various managers have approved. There can be different timings, or email address customising needed, but if 'Approve and Email' is the default, then the ability to do that is lost. Training each and every manager to manually select 'Approve' instead of 'Approve and Email' for each and every invoice they have to approve is simply not going to work.

Hi Laine, it sounds like you're using a browser from your mobile device here. Did you know that you can now use Find and Match on the Xero Accounting app? As the apps are optimised for use on a mobile device this maybe a solution to the issue faced.

Hi team, wanting to provide an update to you here, we want you to know we understand the efficiency more users would like to have in being able to automate the creation of the Xero subscription invoice inside their Xero org.
To highlight from my last update for UK users this is possible with eInvoicing through the online invoice (My Bills page).
This is still something we're interested in developing in more regions however isn't planned in our roadmap just yet.
When resource opens up for us to be able to pick this work up we will share an update with you all on this here. Thanks for staying engaged and supporting in this idea.

Hi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of votes and commentary. This has all been feedback and taken seriously by our product teams.
Currently, there are ways to record a bad debt in Xero, depending on your tax registration status and how you want the transactions to be recorded in your reports - We have help for this on Xero Central you can draw into.
We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality to develop a button to write off invoices or bills as 'bad debt'. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

Hey everyoneđź‘‹ Thanks so much for sharing all your feedback and keeping the conversation going here. We've been following along and considering changes around the process for adding payments in new invoicing.
As we mentioned in our last update, while we won’t be bringing classic invoicing back, we're taking a close look at what made it work so well for you. The ability to quickly enter payment information without leaving the invoice is a key part of that.
To address this, our product team is now working to reintroduce this functionality to the invoice page.
We can’t share a timeline just yet, but we want you to know that your comments have been a vital part of this process. We’ll be sure to post an update here as soon as we have more to share.🙂

Hi team, discovery went well and has provided good insights to our product team. Things have now moved along and I can share that we're working on a solution that'll enable you to schedule when an invoice is sent, and the ability to cancel a scheduled send if needed. 🙂

We've been carefully reviewing your comments and want to acknowledge the clear sentiment of frustration regarding the current limitations around managing multiple addresses for contacts, particularly for invoicing and delivery purposes, and that this is a critical feature to many of you.
We want to share an update on our progress here - We're pleased to confirm that the foundational work for handling multiple addresses has been completed within the Contacts area of Xero. This was a crucial first step. Building on this, now that all customers are on the new invoicing experience our product team has moved into the discovery phase for adding multiple addresses directly within invoicing. This means they are actively exploring the best way to implement this functionality to meet your needs effectively.

Hi community, we appreciate your continued feedback on having different default email addresses for various transaction types in Xero contacts, and the manual steps involved to ensure you're communicating with the right person for different purposes.
Currently, one way of managing this in Xero would be to include every additional person on a contact record in emails, and then removing those that aren't required when sending each transaction. However we totally get this isn't the ideal solution.
While being able to set different email addresses for differing transaction types is something we want to address longer term, like the idea for multiple addresses work for this feature requires cross-collaboration between teams in order to achieve.
Once the multiple addresses feature is live this is something we'll be able to consider more closely and provide further updates on.

I agree that everything should be autosave or not autosave. But for the love of Mike, so many of us are desperately trying to get Xero to make the [censored] Autosave a feature that can be turned off!
