  1. It would be great to be able to group certain lines of an invoice together (for example by adding some spacing between groups), to make long invoices more readable and logically coherent.

    It used to be possible to add spacing on the Classic invoicing page by pressing Enter a few times on the description field, but this no longer works on the New invoicing.

    Hi team, thanks for sharing detail of the value in this idea in the ways you invoice.

    We've just released a new line item grid in invoicing which includes the ability to manually add blank rows and shift these to where you're like them placed in your invoice.

    That said, I want to be transparent in how this works - When you save your invoice any blank lines will be removed. So, if you'd like blank lines to help break your invoice into sections, you'll need to enter a character in the Description field of the blank line. Even a full stop '.' or dash '-' would suffice. 

  2. When posting a payment /receipt against an "already entered" Bill or Invoice, it would be good to be able to do this from the Dashboard. This link could be added to the "+" on the Dashboard and could take you to a search facility to search for the Bill or Invoice. This would also save time having to search under Bills to Pay and Invoices awaiting payment.

  3. Will it be possible to have "description field" in the Deduction field of the Pay template? That can be changed or updated directly on the pay template. For example, to add the ending date for staff loan deductions.

  4. When presenting the Profit & Loss in a different currency from the file currency the exchange rate is as the last date of the Profit & Loss Statement (P&L). While this is appropriate for the Balance Sheet it is not so for the P&L. I would like to be able to extract a P&L report knowing the figures are based on an average exchange rate for the period as opposed to a single date rate.

    Hi Joanne, thanks so much for all your feedback and comments on this idea. We totally get how handy it’d be to have a report in Xero UK Payroll that includes employee bank details.

    Not having something like this can definitely add extra work and hassle—especially when you need to send bank info to a third party or double-check payments.

    Right now, the idea’s in the ‘Gaining support’ stage, which means we’re keeping a close eye on how many people are voting and sharing their thoughts. The more input we get, the easier it is for us to understand how important this is and where it might sit in our list of priorities.

  6. When entering after Qty field, amount is pre filled with 0.00 and when you type, it will put the amount after e.g 0.00120 instead of 120.00. Please remove the pre filled zeros as with classic invoicing and keep the new invoicing in line with everything else in Xero like bills and spend money etc. It is too different!😒

In the "classic invoicing" interface an alert is displayed at the bottom of approved invoices when the contact being invoiced has existing credit that can potentially be applied to the new invoice. This is a very important feature and strangely it's missing from the new invoicing interface. With the "classic invoicing" now being officially retired this basic feature must definitely carry over to the new invoicing interface.

    Without this alert, every time we create an invoice we would need to manually check if the contact has previous credit with us, which makes the process unnecessarily inefficient and unpleasant.

    Hi community, we appreciate all the feedback you've shared on how we can improve new invoicing for your needs.

    In relation to the alert of available credit as raised in this idea, we've identified there are a few situations for Invoice only users where the available credit pop up isn't being shown. This is something we have plans to fix, and while I can't give a specific date on the idea here, we want you to know this is important to us and I'll keep you updated on progress here.

  8. Classic view invoicng compared to the new view invoicing. The new version shows figures entered as 123456789.00 but Classic View correctly shows 123,456,789.00. All figures should be shown in 123,456,789.00 format. It's accounting after all! This is not a suggestion, this should be a bug fix, especially before new invoicing is enforced.

  9. I was wondering if it was possible to get surcharge not added into the total charge that stripe uses to get their processing fee. I always thought that the surcharge total would be like the money that they took their charge from which is why I added the surcharge anyway. It ends up being that stripe adds the surcharge in with the base charge on the customer invoice and then takes out their processing fee. I don't think that is right though. It should be a way for stripe to only charge their processing fee to the base cost of…

    Hi Matthew, we really appreciate you adding your thoughts and voting on this idea. It's clear that having more flexibility around how Stripe surcharges are handled would make a difference—especially when it comes to simplifying reconciliation.

    Not being able to exclude the surcharge amount from the Stripe fee calculation has come up from a few of you. It’s helpful to understand exactly where the pain points are and how they affect your day-to-day.

  11. It would be so helpful for Xero to have the ability to calculate rolled up holiday pay based on timesheets entered and show this as a separate line for holiday pay on the payslip.

  12. A simple payroll report that shows the actual wages for a period for reporting for Workers Compensation as it is a legal requirement for AU businesses. Details would be split into wages paid including super, with the residency status (+country of origin for Working Holiday Makers) - with a split if an employee has changed employment basis (i.e., moved from Casual to FT) in the period.
    And any additional details that are required by the majority of insurance companies who handle Workers Comp.

  13. The new widgets / updates on screen when Xero is first opened is way to busy. Dare I say it Xero needs to have icons on desktop like another accounting program.
    For example Financial icon click on that and all associated widgets are there, a bank icon all information is there, sales, purchases etc etc. Not every business owner wants to see all that important information at start

  15. Auto accrual of Alternative Leave - It would be great if there was a permanent payment item setup in Xero for public holidays worked, and when it is used Xero automatically accrued the alternative leave earned. Or at least make it more obvious that you have to manually adjust the alternative leave accrual in each pay.

  17. In Payroll --> Timesheet --> entering hours for employees, there is no option to 'Approve & Next' employee, which would make entering hours easier. It would mean one doesn't have to keep going back to the main Timesheet menu when they are working through a roster of staff.

  19. Add reference field for project.
    We do a lot of project work. Our clients will generally have a tender or contract number associated with the project. I need to include this number on all invoices related to the project.

    It would be great to have an optional reference field for each project that, if not blank, would automatically populate the reference field for every invoice created.

  20. e-invoicing notification

    It would be great if we could get some kind of notification when an e-invoice was received into draft. Without going into our process, not knowing when a e-invoice was received will cause delays in processing as well as paying it.
