Chat - Insights and actions
I'd like to see a chat /conversational interface like ChatGPT where we can ask it questions like
What was our profitability last month?
Where is our biggest opportunity to cost cut?If I want to get profit to $*** with the same revenues what areas should I focus on cutting the most?
The goal here is to have conversational chat with Xero to dig through the data that's there and find action items to improve the business finances.

Not something we have in the plans atm but we'll begin to get a sense of the interest surrounding this here.
In the meantime, if you'd like to get a view of insights from your org, you might like to look into Xero Analytics and Analytics Plus with Business Snapshot and Short term cashflows, two dashboards that give insight into your business information.

Expenses - Ability for advisers to view expenses tab for clients
I'm an accountant and having advised our clients to adopt using Xero they often come to me with questions. It would be really useful if advisers could view the expenses and projects tabs even if we are are not subscribed to use them so we can help the client with issues.

Reporting - Show all tracking categories even if there is no data in the period reports run
Recent changes to the report layouts when comparing categories means that categories without data no-longer show. It would be great for the user to have the ability to choose whether to include/exclude.
This is particularly relevant when reporting is exported to Excel for customised reports that cannot be developed within Xero. The exported data out of Xero needs to have same column headings so that lookups in Excel continue to work.
The recent change has meant that reports we have already developed within Excel that rely on Xero data no-longer work. And is time consuming to add back in columns…2 votesAppreciate the feedback, Julie. This has generally been to help keep the report clean.
There aren't any direct plans for adding non used categories back into view but it'd be good to be able to share if there are any specific reports you're commonly using that you'd find this view useful in.

AU Payroll: Show 'actual' leave balance in employee record
Make it so that an employees actual current leave balance is shown on an employee's record under the leave tab. Not just the balance with future leave applied. It's frustrating to have to download an employees pay slip to view these balances.

Customer Invoice Report - Ability to view separate columns for Credit Notes and Payment applied to invoices
The existing Customer Invoice Report has a "Paid" column. This column shows the payments allocated to an invoice. This column excludes any credits allocated to the invoice.
The new Receivable Invoice Summary report has a "Payments/Credits" column. This column shows the combined amount of payments AND credits allocated to an invoice.
I need to be able to run a report of invoices that shows ONLY payments allocated to each invoice. This is a crucial need for us. We need to know what amounts on invoices were paid by customers (i.e. payments) and what amounts on invoices were not paid by…

Reporting | Draft - Warning or prompt to Save
Could you please implement a warning sign when closing a report in draft especially if changes have been made anywhere in the report or within the layout (example: Do you wish to save draft").
Reason: I often forget to click on 'save draft' or accidentally navigate away and end up losing all changes.

AU Payroll: Support for overseas employees taxed as AU residents
Can we please add an ability to add a new employee who is still an "Australian Resident for Taxation Purposes" but residing overseas for twelve months? Can't presently add an international address.

New invoicing - Ability to add Account Code within the invoice
It would be helpful and efficient to be able to make or add an account code straight from the "account code" dropdown in the bill/invoice/journal without needing to go to chart of accounts to make a new one. Currently, users still need to go to the chart and then go back to the bill/invoice/journal but since this refreshes the page, it erases all the data already filled up in the invoice.
21 votesHi all, appreciate how this suggestion would make life easier 😊 This is a feature that our team are looking to improve, and they have plans to enable a quick link to go to the COA (similar to quotes today). They do hope to enable the ability to add a new account directly within the Invoices screen however there are a few other pieces of work lined up before they can tackle that.
We'll shift to Under review and I'll keep you updated of any progress!

Activity Statements - Ability to generate comparatives for BAS and IAS
Are you able to generate comparatives button on the BAS's and IAS's for the previous period and the same period last year, like there is for tax returns? This would be a handy tool to use when reviewing.

Detailed Account Transaction - Add Transaction number
I exported the Detailed Account Transaction Report. Additional column I need is the transaction number so I could group or filter the specific transaction/s that I want to conduct further analysis.

Bills - Reorder the Banks shown when recording payments
When I'm posting a payment to a vendor, and I choose a bank account to fund the payment, the accounts look like they're displayed in the order in which I created them. But the checking account I use most often is also my newest account and, therefore, is always displayed at the bottom of the list.
Two potential solutions:
Allow us to choose the order in which the accounts are displayed. (This is my preferred solution)
Sort the list alphanumerically.

Bank rules - Attach files to a rule
Bank Rules - the ability to attach documentation would be very beneficial.

Bills to Pay - Ability to filter by Contact Group
Xero is very limited by only allowing 200 invoices to show on the page on the awaiting payment screen - a filter to exclude some clients based on the client type would be helpful
e.g. creating a client type for direct debit payments would help reduce the number of invoices.51 votes -
Report Templates - Bulk update
Have a way to make updates to multiple templates at once or somehow link templates. e.g. trading / non-trading companies, should be the same except for the trading statement/income statement. Would be handy to be able to make updates to both at the same time where possible

Reporting - Option for selective printing (similar to XPM)
Only option is to export documents from Xero. Can the Print option, like in XPM (see attached pic) be added

Sales - Ability to attach 50+ files
i would like the option of more than 50 photos as i run a repair and maintenance business and regularly require to send 150 or so photos (before and after) for either bond or insurance jobs this is required for the claims and they prefer them attached to the invoice and quotes at this stage its very hard as have to do multiple separate emails that can get split and can affect payment of invoices. it very messy.

Perhaps for now, would it be possible to put all photos associated to a quote or invoice into one document and upload as one?

Post foreign exchange revaluations in general ledger as opposed to income stmt and balance sheet only and does not print in transaction report

Bank Accounts - Ability to add a 'Reporting name'
There isn’t the ability to have a ‘reporting name’ for a bank account name on the Chart of accounts
(. e.g. you either have to update the name in the system (problematic for live files where the client names accounts based upon their use and not in out reporting name format) or manually create a group with the correct name when drafting the financials to replace the account name.17 votesThanks for your images showing what you're meaning here, Zoe. Appreciate it's not the ideal solution but good to hear you're aware of how you can group and rename an account through the Financial reports at present. We'll keep an eye on the interest in this, here.

Contact record - filter view based on activity type
When viewing a Contact's record, the activity can appear cluttered with every single change made, including adding planned payment dates, removing planned payment dates, adding invoice notes, editing the contact's record etc.
It would be good to be able to filter this page to look at say Bills Paid and Invoices Paid only; or Invoice Sent only.
As it works now, for a very active contact, this can quickly become difficult to navigate.5 votesThanks for your feedback and sharing your idea in the forums here, Jo - As part of our work for 'building on beautiful' a contact record is the next page in this space that'll be getting a new look.
Though a little too soon to confirm what it will look like, I can say that the page will be cleaner, with filters to help with viewing what is shown on the page.

Xero Subscriptions - Split PDF invoices by client (not subscription type)
It would be great if Xero can change the PDF format of partner monthly subscription invoices by customer rather than subscription type.
This way the PDF can be forwarded to our Xero Blue practice file as a draft bill and hopefully the AI will extract each customer subscription as a separate line item within the bill so we an easily assign each line as an expense to each individual client.
Then the billable expenses will come through correctly when we raise sales invoices in XPM that integrate with our Xero Blue practice file as a draft invoice.
