  1. Option to generate a Notice of Electronic Funds document to send to suppliers requiring immediate proof of payment. Said Notice to include:

    remittance date
    name/contact details of remitting party
    amount
    reference / description for payment being made
    the bank details of both the remitting and beneficiary banks

    Not an original idea but I received a notice from a customer. Today I was asked to submit one to a supplier as proof of payment so they could ship out an urgent delivery but I could not provide one. See sample document attached for reference.

    Hi Nina, this is something I'd recommend engaging your financial institution or bank about. While you can set up and create a payment in Xero, the confirmation of funds transfer would come at the point the money is paid from your actual bank account to the suppliers bank account. 


    If your suggestion however is from the Sales side where you'd like to request your own customers provide proof of payment for invoices you send to them perhaps this could be worked into your organisations branding as part of the payment terms

  2. When quoting items, customers need to know when the quoted items would be available.

    It could be that the item is available ex stock or that there is a lead time to the item of days, weeks or months.

    This is a common occurrence in the industrial sector.

    Each item on the quote could have a different lead time, whether it is an item or service that is quoted.

    The information is important to the customer for operational, as well as cashflow purposes. M

  3. It would be really helpful to be able to group bank accounts in a similar way to grouping Contacts. We have multiple currency accounts and base currency accounts as well as credit cards and to be able to group them in different ways would make checking them much easier. Eg group into GBP Current Accounts, Currency Accounts, Cash Currency Accounts, All Cards etc

  4. The Net functional (for us GBP) column in the Account Transaction Report does not function correctly if we are considering the full GL.
    Whether it shows a Debit or Credit as plus or minus depends on the type of account.
    For example, an accrual Jnl posts Debit Expense/Credit Liabilities but both show as Positive in the Net column.

    We run the full GL to conduct our analysis and we re-calculate this column every time.
    Then we can confirm that the list balances as the total of the double-entries should be nil.

  5. If you send an Invoice per mail to a client, a credit note that is linked to the invoice should be attached to the mail with the invoice too.
    Currently, you have to send two separate mails.
    If you send an invoice, you have several check boxes like "add invoice as pdf". There should be the option "add credit not as pdf".

  7. When entering multiple contacts, it would be good to have the option to "save and create new contact" as well as the "Cancel" and "Save and Close" option after entering the information. Currently you have to press Save and Close, go back to Contacts, then select New Contact.

  8. Journal Accrual or Cash Basis default setting and journal import column.

    Default journal setting in is Xero is to post on a cash basis - apply a settings to select which basis is the default method (Cash or Accrual)

    Import journals on accrual basis - add an extra column to the import template to state if the journal is accrual or cash basis or a default setting if blank.

  9. Is there an option to show "Manual Bank Reconciliation Date" rather than Reconciled Date? The reconciled date is system generated and it does not mean much if the balances are out to start with. This would allow the user to know when bank rec was actually performed by a human.

    Hi Jo-Ann - when you say you'd like to view the date the bank account was manually reconciled would this be on the org's Dashboard?

    As a means of viewing this information at present - you could run the History & notes and view only Bank transaction items where you'll see the name of the user and date that the last transaction in the org was reconciled. 🙂

It will be good idea if Xero got facility to have a share holder register (like fixed asset register) with the control account in Equity area or facility to upload share holder details, address, number shares issued, dividends due and paid. currently we maintain this register in excel which is an additional thing to maintain.

  11. A feature for businesses to submit their own tax returns would be great. I already prepare and submit my own GST returns via Xero and it's really easy - just the push of a button. A similar feature to enable me to prepare and submit my own tax return, without needing to go through an accountant, would be really good as the technology is now here for us to not need expert advice so much in this area now and this will only increase with the rise of AI.

Looking at the mileage and expense app in the demo company, I noticed many fields need to be completed each time, such as bank account, categorised to an account etc. This level of detail should be managed by an administrator rather than an employee who is on the road and needs to worry about what code the expense should be linked to and the tax rate, and so on. All they need to do is take an image of the receipt, type a few words explaining the reason for the expense and then send it. After which, it is up…

  13. I need to be able to track all my project expenses, including labor costs, for each project. All the labor data is already in Gusto, my payroll provider. Currently I have to create a report in Gusto then manually enter the data in Xero. I also have to manually maintain two lists of the same projects: one list in Xero, and one list in Gusto. I would like the Projects in Xero to synchronize (two way) with the Projects in Gusto. I would also like to be able to pull (or synch) the project labor cost from Gusto to Xero.

  15. Invoice reminders do not work when generating invoices in a third party app that pushes the invoices across to Xero.

    This is unhelpful when the integration is otherwise seamless.

  16. There has been an ongoing BUG in Xero, on the bank reconcile screen, when you select more details about the transaction, it covers the invoices. If you have invoice references in the details, you have to close that then select the invoices in the reference. Xero should not cover the invoices, but display the details along the side, see CASE BUG CX0013467462 for full details and screenshot.

    Appreciate your screenshot and can see what you're meaning here, Craig. 

    While this is not a bug we appreciate this is not ideal and understand why you'd like to be able to view these to items at once. Currently these are two separate features in the Reconcile screen which is why they work in isolation and the More details view can be open and closed while working with Find & Match. 

    We don't have immediate plans for changing this behaviour, however I've shared with our team and we will let you know if there's any change planned. 

  17. My client uses personal funds for large part of expenses. I have to enter them manually (using Spend Money) and after each entry the screen defaults back to today's date.
    Would be useful if Xero defaults to the last entered transaction date, when using Spend Money, instead to today's date.

  19. THERE ARE SO MANY CHOICES. I need something specific and someone to help. A comparison tool of each app features (like some of the health industry sites have) or a specialist team to advise, particularly when you are recommending so many platforms.

    Thanks for the idea here, it's good to know how we can help businesses understand how best to navigate Xero when onboarding a business. 

    For the UK we now have a page on our website that helps you find a plan that's right for their business. Xero will provide a plan recommendation based on responses to a selection of questions. 

    Though only available in the UK atm, we are looking to extend this to other regions and I'll keep you updated on when this is available elsewhere, here. 

  20. I have noticed that automatic numbering of accounts is different that what is general used in Canada. There should be a very clear option when starting a new Xero account to select Canadian numbering and an option to change the numbering to Canadian. For Example, in Canada, Assets start with 1, Liabilities start with 2, Equity start with 3, Revenue start with 4, Cost of Sales start with 5, Expenses start with 6,etc... I have a client who went ahead and started using Xero and it set up the accounts wrong and some accounts you cannot change the numbering to…
