Hi team, we're pleased to share that we've released some more features, enabling more users to pay suppliers without logging into your bank!
For our UK customers we've made paying overseas suppliers easier with international bill payments.
Using open banking, you can now securely send money to 180+ countries including Europe (EUR), America (USD) and Australia (AUD). So you don't have to juggle multiple platforms or hidden fees. Whether you're paying a single bill or multiple bills at once, authorise payments prepared by your team and easily track which suppliers have been paid.
We've also launched bill payments in Xero for customers in the US, powered by BILL.
You can make simple, secure payments directly from Xero. You'll be able to authorize payments prepared by your team, and easily track which vendors have been paid. Plus, gain access to millions of vendors over the BILLTM network, and vendors can choose how they want to be paid. With no recurring subscription fees (aside from your Xero plan), you only pay per transaction.
Thanks for your continued support in this idea, we'll continue to share more updates with you all. 🙂

commentedQuickBooks has many advantages over Xero at this point because Xero keeps removing valuable functionality in favor of window dressing. At this point one of the few advantages that Xero has the lack of bloatware that is rampant in QB.

commentedQuickbooks has had this as a standard feature for over 15 years. Clients moving from QB expect this capability. This is a Core function that cannot be overlooked.

commentedI would really appreciate a function that allowed me to pay reconcile to statement and pay a bunch of invoices in one go - from within Xero... but I cannot even get my bank feeds to work... I have read a lot of interesting comments on this thread. Many are voicing a similar concern to mine... Xero seem bent on adding "trivial" features which detract from the value rather than necessary ones which would add to it. They never fail to increase their prices each year though. Sad Xero. Listen to your clients!!!

commentedI am finding so many useful features change to useless ways of doing things... bit over it to be honest.

commentedThis seems to be the path of Xero now, remove useful efficiency, add virtually useless and trivial features while ignoring years of calls for extending the number of digits from 4 to 6 in invoices, etc. Oh, did I forget that while they make the software less useful, they increase the cost? I guess not.

commentedRemoving this feature is a real step backwards, as this a value add feature. Xero, you should be investing in this feature with all banks or true straight through processing, not removing this feature which makes life easier for your customers! This is not a good move!

commentedXero literally just announced that they are removing this feature for NZ ASB customers.
We use this for almost every bill payment.
It loads every payment into the bank for us, and then we just have to do into the bank to make a bulk approval.
The announcement says they are instead prioritizing features that add value for customers, which hardly explains why they are removing value!
Apparently Xero has new requirements that the banks can't comply with currently. Here's an idea... Use the existing method!
It's like building a very smart car that considers some intersections to be unsafe, so refuses to drive through them.Instead we now have to download a CSV and upload to the bank (1972 tech).
Or pay each bill manually. So I guess don't hold much hope Xero will 'add' this feature when they are actively removing it from jurisdictions that have it.

commentedBMO supports both 1464 and 80 byte file formats in Canada. This would be ground breaking for Xero clients to be able to pay bills directly from Xero.

commentedXero used to offer this in Australia for Nab customers. It was great! For some reason, they decided to remove this time saving functionality.
If Xero is going to remain relevant, they need to focus on adding meaningful innovation and value to users rather than reducing functionality and increasing prices. Come on Xero, give us some innovation that we actually need rather than changing the style of reports etc

commentedWith the strides forward that are being made in open banking, this kind of function should be more than possible now, though understandably it does require the co-operation of the banking tech teams to allow this to happen fully.

commentedPreviously - Australian businesses using Xero that have NAB internet banking had been able to instruct multiple bill payments at a time through Xero and approve their bill payments anytime, anywhere, directly in the NAB mobile app. This feature was excellent as it allowed payments to be uploaded to the NAB App to an approver without the business' finance staff having to log into the bank directly. Similarly, instead of uploading an ABA file for a bulk payment run, each individual transaction would show on the NAB Internet banking app and therefore the approver could either accept or reject all or hand-pick individual transactions to approve or reject. With ABA files if a file needs to be changed, the entire ABA file needs to be canceled and then reissued. In addition when the transactions appear on the bank feed/statement, instead of being a bulk amount for the entire sum of the aba file transactions, each individual payment shows line-by-line on the statement making reconciliation fool-proof and also automatic. In Dec-22, this feature was unilaterally turned off by Xero with no alternative provided. We request this feature be turned back on or provide this functionality with a different vendor.

commentedAgain, this feature should be standard in a modern accounting software package. You should at least be able to do a payment run in Xero and generate an ABA file to upload to your banking platform
