Thanks for sharing in the idea here, Faye! While we don't have plans to change the current set up - as suggested when you choose to "Add Holiday" rather than selecting one of the drop down options, you can just type in the Holiday that you want to add.

  2. Currently, when super payments bounce, Xero sends us an email letting us know that a payment to a particular super fund from a particular payment batch has failed. Once we've identified whose it was, and got the updated details, we then have to contact Xero to get a re-processing authorised.

All of this takes time, during which the Directors of my clients may become liable for late super payments. I'd like a button to click to speed up at least the contacting Xero for re-processing bit - preferably as part of the process identify the refund received and connect…

Hi team, sorry we haven't joined in this idea sooner. Earlier this year we released an improvement so now if an auto superannuation payment is returned the authoriser will receive an email including the reason for the return. They will be able to withdraw the payment from the processed batch to reprocess the contributions. We have detailed help for this on Xero Central, but if you run into any snags as always our Xero Support team are available to help. 🙂

  3. It would be helpful with the new Timesheet features to be able to add more than one work time and break time per day to allow for split shifts.

Hey everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback throughout this thread. It’s clear how important this feature is, especially for staff working split shifts.

I’m happy to confirm that our latest update to timesheets brings the multiple start, end and break times feature across to the updated timesheet experience, and will be available on both Xero Me mobile and web.

For more information on these updates, and some other improvements we’ve made to Payroll check out our Xero Releases page

  4. Can we please add an ability to add a new employee who is still an "Australian Resident for Taxation Purposes" but residing overseas for twelve months? Can't presently add an international address.

  5. It was bought to my attention after using xero for over 2 years that depending on how you pay your staff using multipayment or individually that when you reconcile if your staff have access to contacts then they will see the payments made.

This is a concern for me that they can see the amounts whether your reconcile as a bulk amount and allocate to them or a generic contact - if you use the cash coding area then xero creates a dummy payee called unknown which again can be seen by your staff with standard access.

    They can also…

  6. AU - Compulsory Employee Super When a Employee Superfund changes ABN, USI number, merges with another fund.

The only solution at moment is to export the employee data into a file and save it. Then deactivate the Superfund. The problem is if you have a query on these past transactions you cannot do it through Xero. If you a subjected to an audit you cannot generate report for the data prior to the date of the changes made to the super fund. If you have been through an audit this creates a lot of work. Also, if you…

  7. Now with STP2, we need to disaggregate backpay across the various ATO Payroll categories but it is not possible to setup a backpay category for any leave categories, please create default categories or allow allocation to the ATO leave categories in pay items. Without it, it is impractical to be STP2 compliant.

  9. When an employee onboards and doesn't have a Tax File Number (TFN) either because they are new to Australia and have just applied for one or they are under 18 and exempt. Xero should have a feature that warns you when they either turn 18 or they have passed the 28 days allowed to work without a TFN and it should automatically change their tax declaration to no TFN provided and change the tax withheld rate, until a TFN is provided. There also needs to be a constant warning in each pay run, 'this person is…

  10. Hi, It would be great if payslips line items match the 'pay template' pay items or alternatively, for pay items that have a YTD amount to be shown on all payslips (with the Nil or $amount for the current pay period as applicable with the YTD) to breakdown 'Other Previous Earnings'.
This will also assist tracking multiple pay items where it can vary each pay cycle, coding and tracking STP rates and categories, YE finalisation and review. Many thanks.

  11. Could Xero start looking at a drop down box on the allowance to have one as Not Reportable (alongside the other catagories eg. Meals, Tools, Car), and to have it out for STP reporting? or another checkbox down the bottom along with the withholding tax, super, and W1 questions?
Instead of going through the long winding process of creating an ordinary earning, remove as deduction and do a reimbursement as per https://central.xero.com/s/article/Process-special-pay-items-like-living-away-from-home-allowance

  13. I would like to be able to firstly differentiate my payroll journals from other journals and then produce an end of year report of the payroll journals.

    How you could facilitate this:
-Tick box on the journal to identify it as payroll related.

  15. I want a negative Reimbursement line item in the Employee Template.
This can be done in a Payrun, but cannot be done in the Employee Template screen.
With STP 2 we have some payroll reimbursement entries that need to be processed every pay. They need to be positive and negative entries so that the Wages Payable account does not go out of balance. This can be done in a payrun - why not in the Employee Pay Template. Please see the screenshots.

Hi team, while it isn't possible to make a negative reimbursement line in an employees pay template, you could set up a deduction pay item.

A deduction item would function the same as the negative reimbursement line, as well as being able to be added into the employees pay template.

It'd be good to understand more if there's a reason using a deduction wouldn't be adequate here.

  16. If in a 'normal' pay run an employee takes Annual Leave then Leave loading is shown as a separate line item - clear to the payroll person and the employee. However in a Final Pay run it does not show. Being consolidated with the leave sum is not obvious. Please keep to the 'normal' format, then it's clear to everyone

  17. When a company changes their payroll frequency to a new calendar there is no prompt to adjust the leave accrual.

For instance, I recently changed my client from Fortnightly to Monthly Calendar.
I adjusted each employee to the new calendar.

On their Leave tab in the set-up of the leave accrual it asked the question:
Hours a full-time employee works in a Fortnightly pay period
When I changed the calendar to monthly this question changed to:
Hours a full-time employee works in a Monthly pay period
There was however no prompt to adjust the answer, the previous answer just transferred…

  19. It would be wonderful to have the option to use HH:MM format for timesheet entries, instead of only decimal time. Hard to convince employees to do timesheets as it is, but to also ask them to convert two weeks of project works over numerous jobs into decimal format is a big ask! Not many people are used to entering 4.6667 hrs instead of 4hrs 40min. If this is a feature of Xero Practice Manager, can it not be easily made available to the rest of us?

  20. The current option available for updating the time in lieu of XERO is to previously inform the fixed number of hours that will be added to the leave balance in the leave register. However, the number of hours varies each week, so I cannot predict in advance how many hours each employee will work.

My suggestion includes an automatic update from the time in lieu of using a timesheet. Thus reducing the probability of errors by entering the balance manually.
