  1. We are long term users of Xero and find many aspects of its functionality make our accounting functions easy! This is not the case in terms of Payroll entry….The Xero Me App does not come close to meeting the needs of a small business like ours….and I am sure we are not entirely unique!

Our business is predominantly made up of casual employees who work different hours from day to day/week to week. Many of our employees also drive vehicles and require kilometre reimbursement.

The biggest challenge we have is the accurate recording of employee hours…unfortunately, we have issues around…

  3. To minimise additional payroll payment processing it would be great to have the ability to pay employees from more than one Company bank account using the Payroll Batch payment functionality i.e Employee 1,2,3,4 gets paid from Bank Account A and Employee 5,6,7,8 gets paid from Bank Account B.

  4. We are after a report which shows the leave accrual rates for each individual employee in bulk report. I know we can view each individual employee by clicking on their leave balance and looking at the "Hours of leave accrued annually by a full-time employee. However for businesses with a large number of employees, this is very time consuming, therefore we would like a bulk report we can run to view all employees accrual rates in the one report.

  6. Unpaid Intern. I have an Uni student doing an internship. We offered to pay $500 per month as a transport allowance. The unpaid intern is not an employee. When I wanted to set this person up in Payroll, I found limitations: the only available contracts are full time, part time and casual. I tried to set her up as casual, which is wrong, and link the transport allowance. An error pop up asking to calculate Superannuation. I give up.
In this case, MYOB is better, as we have an option to "not report" and we don't pay superannuation for…

  8. A 'select all' feature to approve all unapproved timesheets would be great.
8 plus years now of having to tick in a tiny box for all my casual/part-time staff is getting a little tedious, especially when a slight error opens the timesheet up and you have to then back out of the page to start all over again.
It shouldn't be too hard from a coding point of view should it?
    Thanks, Bob

  9. When using the final pay function and annual leave is in negative, please flag with a "check with your bookkeeper, accountant or Fair Work before processing negative leave on a final pay." Some business owners are unaware that this may be contravening Fair Work laws.

  10. Suggestions:

The Payroll /Or Payrun system can also be currency optional

Companies are becoming more international. The online office model is not limited to the workplace, and salaries will be paid in different currencies. This is probably going to be a trend.

    We appreciate the input and interest this idea has received overtime. However as you may have recently received word - We’re making some changes to Global Pay Run to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date.

    - Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run.

This also means that we don't have any plans for further development of our Global Pay Run product, and will move any ideas related to this on this site to Not planned.

If you're from a region where we offer dedicated payroll products (AU, NZ and UK) specifically designed for your regions unique requirements,…

  11. Set up leave so that it automatically tops up at the start of the year with a set amount.
I have an employee that has an arrangement of xhours per years to be used as they wish. At the start of each year this reverts back to the agreed hours. Any hours not taken during the previous year is cleared.

  12. I would like Xero to automatically lock the ABN on a client's file after the first STP event has been lodged. This will prevent clients changing the ABN when they change the entity's structure and reporting STP incorrectly across two ABNs. Undoing this mess is a nightmare.

Thanks for your feedback so far, everyone.
We're currently looking at ways we could help fix double counting for issues at the ATO that have been made due to changes made to an organisation's ABN/Branch number and it'd be great to get input and further feedback from some of you here to help us understand and solve these issues.

📝If you're interested in participating in this research and would be available to connect (this week) on 24th or 25th November 2022 - Please click through and complete this short survey. Thanks 🙂

  13. Currently Xero does not assign annual leave and public holiday to a project/job as timesheet doesn't have this function.
Superannuation generates from payroll (pay run) , however, there is no place to allocate superannuation to different projects/jobs as well.

Hi everyone, we’re pleased to share that we’ve now released working patterns to all UK organisations that use Xero Payroll.

    This change reduces manual workarounds enabling you to enter more information employees’ working patterns to support accurate allocations of leave and earnings rates. You’ll find you can now;

    • Create or select from working pattern templates
    • Add working patterns manually or using the template
    • Setup multiple weeks of a working pattern

We’ve shared a few videos on YouTube that’ll help guide you through the change 😊

We really appreciate everyone who’s engaged with us on this idea and those who’ve been involved in testing some of the functionality with us through the journey.

  15. Amend status of timesheet - I accidentally ran a Pay Run without having approved the timesheet. The status of the timesheet then was Approved, and didn't become 'Processed'. An 'Approved' staus meant I couldn't change the calendar setting s etc for the employee. It becasme a challenge to do what was necessary to get the status to 'Processed'.

  16. I want to be able to archive or delete old, previously processed timesheets. In the timesheets section, processed timesheets from 2018 continually rise to the top and it is annoying and time consuming to always change the sorting order to find the most recent, or filter via a start date. This is all annoying. I want to remove old or previously processed timesheets from this list, or at the very least, have recent timesheets/those waiting to be processed automatically listed at the top.

  17. Have automatic superannuation payments be able to be paid via credit card, through xero. Currently there seems to only be the ability to make automatic payment via direct debit but it would be good if it could be made by a credit card.

  18. set the number of decimals places e.g. 2 so when Xero applies a award factor e.g. 1.5x award rate the results only displays to two decimals place in their pay.
Awards are published to two decimals places that's all we are required to pay in Australia.
Fixing the rounding wastes so much time.

  20. If Reimbursements are meant to be used for certain allowances then we need to be able to set up units and unit rates in the same way as we do for allowances, otherwise the calculation becomes a manual one and leaves room for human error. It also means reporting is not clear on how the amount was calculated as even though you can enter a description on the payslip i dont beleive there is a report that summarises this.
ie for overtime meal allowances you should be able to show how many you have paid and at what rate so…
