  1. When producing an Account Transactions report, it would be helpful if we were able to filter by type (e.g. only P&L items, or only Balance Sheet items, or codes within a certain/custom range). At present, we have to select or deselect on sometimes a rather long list of accounts.

This is possible with filters in the newer version of the Account transactions report!

You'll see Account Type as an option from Filters through which you can select which ones you'd like to make visible in your report.

You can even go a step further and group by Account Type if that's a better view for you, too.😁

  2. Until this month, this was not an issue. However this month Xero has taken away the ability to send the superannuation SMS authorisation code to international numbers. What happens when you change a number or move overseas but still work for the company. Why take this away? Without discussion with your customers. If it's not broken, why is Xero trying to fix it?

  3. The relocation of ‘edit’ on the drop down feature of options within invoicing.

Reason being, it is far too close to ‘copy’ and on a couple of occasions whilst invoicing I have selected ’edit’ rather than ‘copy’ which has caused some cash flow issues and time explaining to clients where the issue has arisen.

By simply separating them on the drop down would eliminate the accidental selection. Once selecting ‘edit’ or ‘copy’ the only difference is once changes invoice number and the other doesn’t.

  4. When entering invoices and the account is always "sales" (for example), I would like the option to set up invoices to automatically use the "sales" account? It is currently only an option by setting up item codes and/or setting up through contacts. I would like to see it automatically assign the account at the time of entering the invoice, instead of having to type in an item code. It will save so much more time and avoid errors by users selecting an incorrect account from the chart of accounts.

Thanks for raising the idea here, Julie. Sorry we didn't pick up sooner.

    Only a few weeks after your post the team developed and released the ability to Group by Account code in the following reports;

    • Profit & Loss
    • Balance Sheet
    • Cash Summary
    • Statement of Cash Flow
    • Blank report
    • Budget Variance
  6. Allow Xero user to add additional columns to "Transaction report" so that a report can be sent to each credit card holder in the business confriming where the items on their statement were coded in Xero. This report would accompany their credit card statement each month.
It proactively ensures coding and subsequent department, management and board reporting is correct. This saves time, effort and unnecessary republishing of reports.
(This request came about after assistance from Xero Support)
Colums needed are: Related Account and $ value in that account

  7. It would be useful to have some sort of 'notes' section within each bank account. We have several bank accounts for various purposes (mostly to use as 'savings' for various tax liabilities (for example, corporation tax, VAT etc)-but it would be useful, for managing cash and future liabilities to have a notes section to keep track of what is due and when, rather than having to do either run a VAT return or P+L every time I need to remind myself and how much needs to be put aside.

  8. I would like to suggest adding the capability to generate Sankey diagrams within Xero. Sankey diagrams are highly effective in visualizing the flow of resources, such as money, energy, or data, through different stages or categories. They could be used to illustrate cash flow, revenue distribution, and expense breakdowns in a more intuitive and engaging way.

By adding Sankey diagrams, Xero could offer users a more dynamic and insightful view of their financial data, helping them better understand how money moves through their business, leading to improved decision-making and reporting.

  9. It would be great if when you use the search field to search for a name/description, if there was an option to 'select all' of the searched items. I often search for a description and then have 10-15 account codes I want to view, but i have to tick them all individually. A select all button would be amazing!
There is already a select all / deselect all option but only when there is no description searched.

  10. Could an enhancement be made so we are able to delete archived codes in bulk, either at practice level or client level, rather than having to do individually? would be helpful

  11. There is no functionality in Xero to 'Hide account codes on all pages' as we have "Hide decimals on all pages'.

Can we have this functionality - at present we need to check each page before publishing to ensure that there are no account codes showing.

  13. When the multifactor authentication (MFA) page pops up the field to enter the code needs to autofocus with the cursor on page load so that the user can just start typing their code from their phone or app without needing to click on the code field.

It's such a small tweak that saves a mouse click when a user is probably already holding their phone in their hand ready for the page to load. I know that I often start typing the code from my phone without looking at the MFA page only to discover that the code field is…

  14. would be so much easier if the only amounts that show on the GST late file reports are amounts where the GST treatment has ACTUALLY changed. doing something as simple as changing a code in a filed period can create hundreds of pages of "late claim" adjustments but they are just in and out entries..... this also makes it harder to determine which entries have actually changed.

  15. Can the VAT account be split into two, a method that Sage utilises?

A vat control account and a VAT suspense account.

The VAT suspense account will show the balance of the Dr or Cr of vat payable or owing from transactions included in the VAT return, this is where the Vat payments to/from HMRC are posted.

The VAT control account shows the balance of transactions where input/output VAT has been realised from invoices raised/received, but are not yet included in the VAT return typically because the the company is operating the VAT cash scheme.

    These two accounts could be…

  16. It would be really useful if there was an options to tag or colour code invoices in the list view, so that at a glance we could see invoices grouped together for any given reason.

For example most of my invoices are paid via direct debit, so I'd love a way to tag/colour code the invoices that have not yet signed up for the debit system, so that I can see at a glance how many I am still missing and who I need to follow up on.

  17. Our clients would like the option to show reconciled and uncoded options on the same uncoded items report. Moving from MYOB/Banklink they are used to reviewing all transactions and having the ability to add notes for us to then code and add in the accounting software. We have many clients who fill in this form for us to then enter into the software and at present then only way to show this is running a bank reconciliation report.

Appreciate familiarity to the way your clients may have worked with another system.

As noted in the initial idea while there's specifically a report for uncoded statement lines, the Bank Reconciliation report will provide a list of all statement lines (coded and uncoded) - Is there something missing within this report that you're looking for in this?

@Wayne, livestock trading is quite different to what's being asked for in this thread - you can join the idea for this across here

  19. It would be nice if expenses could learn and assign a specific account automatically to expenses from a regular supplier.

    The process could be:
    1) I take a photo of a receipt
    2) The analyse feature reads the receipt and fills in the date, supplier and amount

    THE NEW BIT:
    3) Expeses realises this is a supplier I've analysed a receipt from recently and codes it to the account I coded it to last time
