Reporting - Context dependent wording for totals that are a profit or a loss
In Xero financial statements, it can obviously detect whether an item is negative or positive, as you can group items as assets or liabilities based on the value.
Can we get context dependent wording then too? Especially for Income (Loss) type totals?

Expenses - Ability to filter by spent date
To have a filter or sort option on expenses to filter by spent date.
Purpose: To easily check whether expenses have been entered by the users or not.

Invoice - Make invoice templates location available within the sales overview page
Invoice templates should not be in the "settings" but in the actual part where the invoices are, this is product development 101 stuff guys seriously...
Adding/altering/deleting invoice templates should be accessible right from within the sales overview and invoice section. I shouldn't have to google for this stuff, it's really quite terrible.

Conversion | Ability to enter outstanding invoices via Manual journals
When bringing a company on board, and you need past invoice history of the invoices outstanding, it would be far quicker to type them into the journal than to have to capture the document individually. it would be better to be able to do a journal for the AR and AP once you have captured the company. time does matter, and this method which is currently there is very time-consuming. Other accounting packages have this function and it would be nice to see it being done here for the Advisors.
2 votesAppreciate ease when coming across from another software. Conversion balances and the way Xero works is quite critical to how outstanding invoices and bills are entered.
Xero makes sure your accounts receivable and payable are in balance to the transactions that have been entered.
While we will track the interest around this here I do want to be upfront that we don't have any plans to change the way in which these are entered.

Navigation - View all option and dates instead of page numbers
As the title suggests. A "view all" option throughout the product would be great. Or even view a year. Far batter than having to click load more over and over again. Especially when if you click off of the page you then have to laboriously keep clicking load more again and again.
Also to have dates next to (Or instead of) page numbers in the various scrolling pages; cash coding, reconcile, etc.
Having to select a page and another and another to try and guess where the date of the transaction is is ver laborious. Having the date range alongside the page would make this a lot qucker.As the title suggests. A "view all" option throughout the product would be great. Or even view a year. Organisation settings - Exported Accounting data to include contact name
Accounting > Advanced > Export Accounting Data > Xero General Ledger (.txt), to add the Contact name (customer/vendor/employee name) as a field. Currently, such information is not exported.

Files - Move 'New Folder' button to top of page
It would help if the NEW FOLDER button in the Files area was available at the top of the page. We have built up a number of folders over the years and having to scroll to the bottom of the page to add a new (current month) folder is a little niggly. If there was a button at the top (as well as the bottom?) that would be a small but helpful improvement! Thanks, love the software otherwise :-)

I wanted to provide an update for you all here - while this isn't something we have plans to develop in the near term, in lieu of shifting the placement of this button you may find keyboard shortcuts useful to help you navigate.
On your computer you can press 'end' on your keyboard to help draw you straight to the bottom of a page and avoid having to scroll (if you're using a Mac you'll want to press Command + the right arrow) 😊
Do get this isn't directly what you're asking here and we'll leave the idea open, however hopefully this helps speed things up for now.

Projects - Create Draft invoice in a new browser window
Automatically opens a new window when preparing Draft invoice from Projects Screen. This means the project screen stays open to do your next invoice rather than having to navigate back after you have approved your invoice.
5 votesHi team, just having a little play in Projects - while it won't work for Deposit or Project Amount creation, if you're creating an invoice from a Project for Tasks & Expenses you'll be able to hold down 'ctrl' while clicking on this option and should find this opens the Tasks and expenses screen in a separate browser tab.
Totally get this doesn't resolve the idea here, but wanted to share for those it helps 🙂

Profit & Loss (Income Statement) - Year to date percentage of income
Regarding the Income Statement:
When the "Percentage of Income" & "Year to Date" options are selected, can we get the percentage of income column to calculate on the year to date column as well?
This would allow for better variance analysis - comparing the current months percentages to the year to date percentages.

Purchase Orders - Lock the PO number field in the transaction page
Currently the PO numbering is editable by the user. Can we disable / lock the PO number field be editable by the user? As we have encountered a control issue that user edited the PO number and the PO number that have changed has gone missing from our PO list. Thus, we need this enhancement critically so that we can have a complete PO listiing.

NZ Payroll: Employee pay template - Ability to order Earnings type

It would be great to have the ability to reorder an employee's earnings types so that the most frequently used show first on the list when processing a pay run. At the moment, with the exception of Salary & Wages that defaults to the very top, all other "Earnings types" are listed alphabetically and there is no ability to change this order (drag & drop).2 votes -

Occasionally when doing data entry in Fixed Assets we have typed a depreciation rate of more than 100%. It would be good if there was an error message preventing this.

Bank rule - Transfer money and Bank fee as 2 lines
Almost all the payment providers are now settling the amounts with the fees deducted from the captured/sale amount. This needs to be reconciled as two lines 1) Transfer to cash control account and 2) Bank fees.
Currently there is no way to create a rule for this, hence it is a big overhead for the reconciliation, with almost a large chunk of card sale having to go through this process.Can the product team please take care of this on priority? thanks

Although not a direct solution right now, you may be aware that Stripe (one of our providers) has automated capability you can set up like you've described for automated matching.
Alternatively, if your payment provider takes a set % of the total sale then with a rule you could proportionally split a transaction.
You'll see this option at step 3. of creating a bank rule.

Invoice/Bill - Ability to automatically recognise user's division/branch when they enter bill or invoice
When a business has multiple branches or divisions, it would be great for the system to recognise who (from which division or branch) is entering the Bill or Invoice or Journal, and would automatically assign the correct cost centre to the transaction based on that (with the ability to override allowed or not in the user setup). It would also be good to be able to only allow reconciliation/viewing of that branch or division bank account instead of all bank accounts.
