  1. At present it is impossible to link a payroll item to an Asset Account in GL. This is a limitation that is wrong and should be easy to fix. It is wrong because in some cases the wages are capitalised (for instance when the resources are used in full or in part to construct capital assets). Sure, it is possible to post a journal to move costs from P&L to a Balance Sheet account but it is cumbersome and error prone. I note, a majority of competing products do not have this limitation.

    Hi community, while we appreciate you sharing in the idea here we don't have any plans for developing this capability in the global Pay run product. Instead, we'd recommend using a manual journal to record this.

  2. Populate Contact Purchase Defaults when Bills arrive as e-invoice or from 3rd party app.

    As a bookkeeper I was so looking forward to promoting and using e-invoicing, but unfortunately it's not going to work for me (and many of my clients). This is because we often have invoices with A LOT of line items which are brought into Xero just as a total with one line only.     Thanks for your support here, everyone. Appreciate there is some interest in this from people emailing bills to their organisation, or importing via a 3rd party application. 

    We wanted to share a recent change we've made for those using eInvoicing - invoices received via Xero's eInvoicing will apply Contact defaults (such as a set default 'Purchase account) when creating the invoice in Xero. 😁

  4. Be able to see recurring invoices set up for a client on that client's page. So many times I think to myself "I'm pretty sure I set that up, but did I?" and then I have to go and search in the repeating invoice tab. It would be good to be able to see recurring invoices just on the client page.

  5. Name of user in account transaction list - Would it be possible that the username of the person who edited or created a specific transaction be visible when downloading the account transaction? This is to make it easier to track who updated the information.

  6. Please enable the ability to pay staff with a joint bank account in same pay run. We currently have to pay two couples with a joint bank account into separate accounts each run. Xero does not permit two payments into the same bank account in one pay run. I have confirmed with our bank that this is not an error on their end. Xero support have informed me that this is not a function that Xero currently offers.

  7. Produce a report/statement in Xero or Xero Payroll which would inform my clients on how much to pay to HMRC, which HMRC account/sort code to use, what reference to use, and what date it should be at HMRC by.... available for each time a Payroll is run.

    Hi Paul, while we don't have any immediate work planned for this is there an ideal # of items you'd like to set as a default per page? 


    Just to keep things transparent, in the way features in Xero are developed, it's unlikely that this would be implemented across all areas at once. You may notice with the recent update we have being rolled out in the Reconcile page you can now see 50 statement lines at once. Also from within Products and Services, if you change the # of items per page, this selection will be held when you navigate away. A couple of exceptions for this would be if working in incognito mode or switching between browsers. 

  9. In Xero, under All contacts, would be great if we & please add had more columns or choices to add certain column of attributes of the contact showing if they are in a group, and possibly a last action date of last transaction, so that any can be easily Archived, when they haven't been accessed in a long while.   10. Please provide functionality in Xero to turn off the contact name suggestions when creating an invoice, bill, receive money or spend money transaction. This is very frustrating especially if you make a mistake and it saves it, it is there forever. Also the list can get quite long. We need to delete the names that are not required anymore from the list. Please, please fix this issue up.

    Hi everyone, appreciate the feedback here. As you may have noticed we have made some changes to the Contact field within new invoicing over the past few months to improve the experience.

    When entering a contacts name, the contact's shown are results from your existing contact record.

    As a start to help with cleaning up contacts that have been created in error you can either edit contact records, or merge contacts that may have been created as duplicates in error. This will help limit the number of contacts that are appearing in results when you type a contacts name on an invoice.

  11. This feature was included in the old user interface for Bank Rules, and with the new interface that was rolled out, this feature is no longer available. Instead, I'm forced to go to the COA screen to add a new COA code, then refresh my Bank Rules screen to then be able to choose that account. The time this adds, on top of the already manual process to add bank rules, really adds up. I'd love to see this ability again.

  13. The lock date feature is great for preventing back posting as a whole but we would benefit from a lock feature for specific nominal accounts - to prevent colleagues posting to a specific account until dates are unlocked.

    Perhaps in the meantime you could look to use the Archive and restore options for an account in your chart of accounts as a way of managing this? 

  14. When you are entering a Bill to Pay, the Creditor bank account number that you have stored on their contact comes up as a window at the top, so you easily compare with the bank account number with the bank account number on the invoice. This can prompt you to check if the bank account number has been changed and you can make a phone call or follow your company guidelines regarding changing of bank account details to avoid Cyber Crime.   15. Current volume limit is too low. I can't even run the account transaction report including all the account codes for the whole financial year. It's not ideal to run a few report and add together. Strongly recommend Xero increasing the volume limit for the report.

  16. If I want to see all invoices for a customer, I have to go to invoices and filter in various ways to get the results I want. This seems counterintuitive. I would expect to go to the customer under contacts and be able to see all information relevant to that customer including invoices.

    Hi Nicola, you can see all invoices for a customer from the Activity tab of their Contact record. There are options to either view all, or just Invoices or Bills. From the tab it's also possible to filter the invoices by Status or other options.

  17. The current “Add Payment” workflow in invoices is inefficient for keyboard users. While manual entry of payment dates has been improved, the account selection still forces users to use the mouse, which breaks the flow.
    We need a smoother, full keyboard-navigable process when adding a payment to an invoice:
    1.Enter date manually (already possible )
    2.Press Tab to move to the Account field
    3.Type the account number directly
    4. Press Tab or Enter to confirm selection without needing to click the search bar or manually select the account with a mouse

  18. I would like the facility to pay a supplier from within the supplier page. You can see all the invoices that are due for payment while on the supplier page, but then have to leave that screen, go to bills to pay > awaiting payment > search supplier.
    The process could be much simpler.

    Appreciate feedback on my recent update - If you're looking to pay one bill you can easily open the transaction from the Contacts page, however it's not possible to create a batch payment or pay multiple bills from this screen atm. 

    This isn't something we have plans for right now, but we'll re-open this idea to continue to track the interest. I'll share if there's any change or updates here. 

  19. There is a role setup for Invoices Only (Purchases). This is useful if you want to have a User process Accounts Payable Invoices, but without providing access to Sales Invoices.

    However, if you login with this role, you can see 'All Contacts' as well as the list of all 'Customers' and the billing amounts outstanding. Surely this is inappropriate if the role is for Invoices Only (Purchases)?

    The suggestion is that a user with the role 'Invoices Only (Purchases) can see Supplier contacts, but cannot view Customer contacts (which is really what most people would expect if…

  20. At present when editing a contact, the fields are in USA format with Zip code and State - it would be much better for the UK if we could see Postcode and County
