  1. A great new function in xero would be to copy several invoices to another client without merging them together. So that direct debits can be taken of varying amounts each month.

  2. Being able to customize each user role is quite important as every person in every company does something different. Giving them access to systems they shouldn't have because the User Role they need to do their job allows them access to these other areas is a security risk in general.

    Putting in Custom Roles will also allow companies to adjust the Users to their Company Policies for controls.

    Appreciate the idea here - Being transparent, developing granular permissions or roles for every feature and action throughout Xero is not in our plans. 


    Understanding more of the permission sets majority of users need, will help understand where the biggest impact could be made. 

    I've slightly adjusted the title to suit the needs of the role you mentioned. We'll get a sense of others that'd like this too. 

  3. When entering expense claims, the program should be set to retain the date entered in the last expense claim item. When catching up on accounting, it is cumbersome to be working on July in December and have to go back and change the entire date for each entry. I should be able to retain the last entry date on the next and simply be able to edit the day.

  5. Can the bank feed expiry date be shown on the dashboard or perhaps in the bank account screen rectangle for each account. It is a frustrating task to have to repeatedly contact clients to update this .... and worse they tend to blame Xero for the functionality rather than GDPR

    Thanks for showing your interest through product ideas. It'd be good to get more understanding of what seeing the expiry date of your bank feed on the dashboard would help you achieve? And, how you feel this will benefit your workflow.

The latest glitch is that while using the edit function, something triggers the new invoicing to think that an amount has been added to a quantity or price box in one of the lines, presumably one that is being used as just a text line, and there is no way of knowing which box has been triggered so that you might know what you need to clear as nothing is flagged by the software.     Hi Paul, appreciate your feedback on the new invoicing experience. We're continuing to develop this for all customers so your inputs are valuable. 

    With your first point around the description only line - my recent update on the related idea here may explain the behaviour you're noticing. If you're selecting a saved item to enter description only lines there is a change to how this works between the old and new version and it's not possible to use items as description only atm. We're monitoring this so please do add your vote to the idea there is you feel this applies to your situation. 

    It's best for us to keep one idea per thread so I'll adjust the title of your post here to match your second point on the colouring of the menu button and we can get a gauge of the interest around this too. 

  7. It would be useful to see the Date and Contact Name associated with each invoice and expense that is shown in Projects, rather than clicking to view each one each time.

    This is particularly important now that we have realised that those with Projects access but not Standard User access to Xero cannot view the invoices or expenses to see that detail.

    Hi everyone, thanks so much for sharing your comments and support for this idea. We really get why you'd like a central report, so you can check each customer's payment history just to see who's paying late.

    Currently as mentioned in the discussion here, you can see a customer's average days to pay on their individual contact record, but we know this isn't the same as having a single report for all your customers. 

    While we can see there's a lot of interest in this, it's not on our current roadmap for development. Community members will still be able to vote - So we'll continue to keep a close eye here and will let you know if anything changes.

  9. Please implement a feature allowing users to add billable expenses assigned to Projects directly to an existing draft invoice.

    Currently, users can only add billable expenses directly to a draft invoice if the expense is assigned to a Customer. When expenses are assigned to a Project, they can only be invoiced through Projects. This causes issues when an expense assigned to a Project is has been missed, and needs to be added to the draft invoice. The current workaround requires deleting the draft invoice and starting the invoicing process again, which is time-consuming and inefficient.

  10. In the old invoicing you can preview the invoice without downloading a PDF. I would like to view them again in the new invoicing without having to download a PDF.

When I am logged-in to Xero as a user with "Invoice only" and "only create drafts" permissions, it is my understanding that this user should not be able to create new invoice items or see menu options for creating new items. However, it appears this user can see this menu option when adding a line item to an invoice and attempt to create a new item, leading to an ambiguous error message.

    Hi Chris, I see you're based in AU and we're pleased to share that we have now added the capability of being able to send via SMS along side email from your laptop in AU.

    You can now select the three dots in the top right of an 'Awaiting Payment' invoice, then choose "Send SMS" from the menu.

    While we will look to expand this to other regions in time, we don't have a set date for this yet. We'll be sure to come back here and share further updates when this happens. 😊

  13. When the Allocate Amount pops up to allow for Pre-Payments to be allocated to an Invoice, I find I am going between Mouse, Tab, Numeric repeatedly. We have a large number of Clients who pay weekly and build up a number of Pre-Payments. It would be a lot easier to just use the mouse. Allow for a Double Click in the box containing what is available, or Double Click in the amount allocated, or something - but there has to be a simpler method.

  14. As a DE User we would like to be able to upload a file to the bank creating the direct debits associated with subscriptions or payment plans. (The converse of the supplier payment batch file.)
    The functionality exists already, including the space for the client's BSB and Account number; and the capacity for "strip invoicing" so this should be a relatively quick and easy job.

  15. Dear Sir/Madam,

    When I download custom xero template it has «PaymentImage» code.
    I would like to upload my own image different from Payment Service image to the bottom of the standard invoice same as logo, then I will not need to use a custom PDF template.

    Could you add this option?

    PDF invoices are not convenient as it requires invoice to have Sent status to print PDF. And no quick preview availiable, so no option to preview custom invoice prior sending it.
    I don't need saving every preview PDF invoice perhaps it can just open in a new tab without…

  17. Not sure if this feature is already coming but would be great to be able to use a custom date range in the Business Snapshot reporting. We have clients who run on a 4-4-5 basis so would be great to be able to produce the report for their accounting period.

    Hi all

    To use custom date ranges, and get access to more advanced features, you can upgrade to Xero Analytics Plus. 

    You can do this either by upgrading your subscription to the Ultimate plan, or by selecting it as an add-on.

  18. Ability to add a planned payment date to a bill from the "All" tab in. It is very frustrating that if you are in the all tab in the bills to pay section and you want to add a planned date to a bill, you then have to navigate to the awaiting payment tab and then search again for the bills you want to add a planned date to.

    Further, there is actually no need for an awaiting payment tab. We should be able to filter on the All tab for the view of bills we want to see.

  19. We have a 2 year old issue where we changed an employee end date then reverted a payrun. HMRC has not recognised the revertion or that the resubmission is the same data so we have a duplicate that we haven't been able to sort out.
    To avoid this pain for others, could there be a pop-up warning if someone tries to revert (or otherwise change) a payrun where an included employee has an end date set? Or if the end date has been changed? The details of how it works can be as is easiest to implement.

    Hi there 👋, like mentioned (Thanks Freya) when using new invoicing and you enter any data in the current line a new line will automatically be added below so you don't need to manually add new lines 🙂
