Account Transactions - Add transaction notes with CSV statement import
In Xero it is possible to add notes to spend money and receive money transactions, however, this field is missing for imports. The import documentation doesn't show a notes field:
https://central.xero.com/s/article/Import-a-precoded-CSV-bank-statement
The Description and Reference fields are intended to be from the bank statement, however, Xero has a notes function once you enter a spend or receive money. That's where I want to add a note during import.
Please add this feature.
Thanks

AU Payroll - Hide employee personal details for payrun
In the age of outsourcing, it is impossible to outsource pay run function to an external service provider (especially if they are based overseas) since they can view employee's personal info such as their Tax File Number, Date of Birth, Bank account Details etc.
Once the subscriber or authorized accountant/bookkeeper has created an employee card, they should be able to restrict the access of outsourced partner to just doing the pay run. The outsourced partner should be able to just view the employee name to do the pay run. This feature should restrict their ability to change bank account details…

Expenses - Submit expense claim without filling all required fields
Looking at the mileage and expense app in the demo company, I noticed many fields need to be completed each time, such as bank account, categorised to an account etc. This level of detail should be managed by an administrator rather than an employee who is on the road and needs to worry about what code the expense should be linked to and the tax rate, and so on. All they need to do is take an image of the receipt, type a few words explaining the reason for the expense and then send it. After which, it is up…

Sales Invoice - Column for client Account number on invoice
Would like to be able to have adjustable columns on an invoice that I can change what they fill with. Right now an Invoice only has Item as a field. I would like to be able to change from Item to Account. That way I can have one payer and list several clients in the invoice without typing them all in. For instance, if a field was labeled Client Account # or something then I could set up the list with my clients or pull them up from contacts, and just select the clients account number, it would prefill a…
5 votesHi Laura, hen you say you'd have one payer - would this be a customer or someone internal in your organisation?
It still sounds like untracked inventory could work here - for example each 'client' would be set up as an untracked item, you could select clients using the Item column of the invoice and this would auto populate pre saved data such as the account number which could be referenced in the description column, and monthly service for the account.

Sales invoice - Show the total net separated by vat rates
Creating a summary at the bottom of a sales invoice showing the total net brokendown by vat rates to give the customer a clear view of what they are purchasing
1 voteHi Alex, you'll find this is now possible. The different VAT rates used in the invoice will be shown as subtotals beneath the total invoice amount. With the updates that our team have made to the send experience your customers will also be able to see a quick view breakdown of this in the email they receive 🙂

NZ Payroll - History and notes in Payroll to show changes made
There should be an audit trail in Payroll detailing when changes to an Employee record is made (for example: date an address was updated for an employee and what it was until that date, likewise for other details such as email address, bank account number, tax code etc). As an Employer we should be able to rely on the digitised Payroll system we are using to determine when changes to an Employee's record has been made. In terms of creating an audit trail, this doesn't necessarily only apply to Payroll only and should ideally be something that is normal and…

Reports - New Aged Payables Report V's Previous Report filtering options by due date
Previously in the old format Aged Payable Summary and Detail reports you could run the report at the end of the month and change the Ageing by option to be by Due date and the report would then exclude any invoices with a due date later than the month end it was being run by. However when doing the same in the new format report this does not work and the Current column shows invoices for the month as being due even if they have a due date of later than the month end date being selected i.e. the report…

Contacts - Reinstate the 'Payments in past 12 months' feature
The recent changes to the contacts screen have done nothing but hinder our business. You have removed the "Payments in past 12 months" which is something we rely on heavily when managing our clients. There is now no way to see all payments by a particular client where there are credit notes applied or they have paid by different means (sometimes by card, sometimes DD and sometimes bank transfer) as we would have to search each account separately and manually pull out the credit note balances. Very laborious and this is information we use daily in our credit control procedures.

Reporting |Credit Notes - Date allocated
When allocating a credit note to a customer invoice we need to be able to report on this event and no date is stored at the point of allocation.
In the current system you can see credit notes allocated against invoices only when in the documents as a credit note displays similarly to a bank payment. You can to an extent identify credit notes allocated against invoices by running reports against the Accounts Receivable ledger, filtered by source 'credit note allocation' but you cannot filter this in any way to see recent events. The date of the allocation is deemed…

Hubdoc - Set rules when importing bills
The way that you can preset (and save) coding in spend money bank rules in Xero between "Fixed items" and "remainder items", it would be extremely useful to be able to do this with bills that are uploaded to Hubdoc.
You would then also be able to save the multiline configuration in Hubdoc so that when the bill autosyncs with Xero it has the desired split between fixed and remainder items.
Please see attached PDF. An example of this is where you have phone bill that has fixed business and personal items. The remainder of personal tolls, which differ in…

NZ Payroll - Generate invoices from pay runs
Automatically generate payment invoices when creating payroll.
The current help article suggests creating spent money entries on the fly when reconciling.
It would be better to be able to generate accurate payment and separate code tax invoices when the payday is filed.
The advantages are that:
- the payment is reconciled to where it is created ensuring it is correct,
- the invoices are easily selectable into batch payments from payable invoices which correctly connects to bank batch payments,
- payments to IRD could be raised to different contacts for each payment type allowing the right references to be attached…5 votes -
Find & Match - Separate columns for invoice number and reference
On the Find and Match section of the bank rec, I would like to see the Reference number and the Xero invoice number in separate, sortable columns much like you can in the sales overview screen. In the current set up, the reference number is not sortable. The ability to sort by reference number in this particular screen would probably save me a couple of hours each week.

GST Late Claims Carry Forward and Selection Option
Currently a Xero customer can chose to include or exclude late claims in a GST Return. What most Xero customers don’t appreciate is if they chose no then the late claim adjustment vanishes until their accountant prepares the year end reports. This can leave a client vulnerable and oblivious to significant errors over the course of a year. In my opinion at the vary least if a client says no then the late claims should be progressed to the next GST period. A phase two development could be providing the option of what adjustments can be included and what should…

Custom Reports - Include Balance sheet accounts to report movements
Hey - when making a custom report it would be really useful to be able to show the movement in balance sheet codes. For example, when preparing our month end summary we can't bring in the capitalised wages cost automatically because it brings in the cumulative balance, rather than the balance for the period. To be honest it's crazy to me that this doesn't exist, but would be great if it could!
2 votesThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Idea's, Ryan. We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that would be most meaningful to you.
Being open, we don't have any current plans for changing the Custom report behaviour but we'll continue to track the interest through your idea here and will update if there is any changes to share.

Bills LIst View - Mark un-verified bills without a Due Date
Bills entered that are receipts/paid tax invoices (and accounts can't confirm they have been paid/what bank account they come from) should be able to be marked in awaiting payment with custom names instead of due dates.
Instead of picking a past date to clear them from awaiting payment their should be an option to store it as a 'receipt' or 'direct deposit' to ensure paid invoices etc. are not double paid.2 votes -
Reporting - Include invoices due today as Current in the Aged Receivables, not Overdue
In the aged receivable reports (summary and detail) Xero currently assigns any invoice that is due today to the "< 1 Month" column. But an invoice that is due today isn't yet overdue, so it should still be in the "Current" column.

Bills Preview - Use cursor arrow keys to cycle through bills
When previewing bills in 'awaiting payment' or 'awaiting approval' there used to be up and down arrows to cycle from one bill to the next or previous. The arrows have been removed from the interface with no plans to bring them back.
Previously, we could review the account and GST coding of each bill, as well as having the attached invoice open to the right, including the abillity to review the Xero ocntact bank details by clicking on the contact name. Now, without the abiity to cycle between bills easily, it means we need to close each bill before clicking…
