New invoicing - Ability to view as tax exclusive (when entered inclusive)
In the "New version of Invoicing" disappeared an amazing function - when you open an invoice after it has been approved, it always displays as tax exclusive, even if you entered it as tax inclusive. In the new version if you approved an invoice tax inclusive it ONLY shows it as tax inclusive. Can you please add the feature of seeing both versions of the same invoice.
And another feature that disappeared in the new version is to see account number, not just the name of the account. Can you add it back too? And move it back to…32 votesThanks for raising the idea here, Maria. Will be good to get a sense of the interest in being able to view invoices as exclusive when entered as inclusive. We don't have any immediate plans for changing this but I'll be sure to let you know if there's any change.
We have a separate idea tracking the ability to view the account number that I'd recommend joining for any information or updates around this.

Xero Expenses - VAT on mileage claims through expenses
Many are complaining about no VAT option on mileage claims through expenses. I can see why this would be timely to implicate as the fuel element changes and is different depending on fuel type and engine size.
But think for those that want to, we should at least have a VAT drop down. We could then create a new tax rate for each rate or even employee using expenses.
For example I have a director with a vehicle >2000cc Diesel I believe using the HMRC company car fuel rates this equates to 19p inclusive of VAT. Using the 45p for…

Many of our Customer and Suppliers now insist we use their portal to submit queries statements remittance advices etc.
It would be useful for there to be a portal element like the E mail contacts in the Contact record. If this could be visible and actionable from the header it would be nice so we can click it and go straight to their portal from the contact.2 votes -
Invoice Payments: Support for additional GoCardless accounts
Please can we have the functionality to add more than one gocardless account to one organisation? We have a client account where funds are directed to a trust account under one account and then our normal gocardless account and would be great to be able to include both sets of transactions (at the moment we have one linked and the other is updated manually at the end of the month.)

AU Payroll - Tracking Categories for Annual & Sick Leave reporting
In order to monitor expenses by venue, tracking categories in Payroll - giving staff the ability to log their time worked by venue - makes total sense. However, when staff take A/L or S/L, there is no ability to use a tracking category, so all these transactions go to the default 'unassigned'. The time involved in searching what makes up this 'unassigned' amount in a payroll of 35+ employees across 9 venues is astonishingly time-consuming, yet vital to the overall expense reports. Would love to have some time and effort put into this issue please Xero.

Bills List View - Add Account and Tax Rate columns to Awaiting Approval tab
In the list view of "bills awaiting approval" it would be really helpful to have an option to display a column with the account the bill has been assigned to, and the VAT; this is the two items I need to check before approving bills and being able to just tick and approve most would save so much time.

Invoices/Bills - Don't update contact address for existing invoices
Currently, if you change the address of a contact, old invoices and bills will show the new address and not the old address.
It would it be good if the old documents can keep the old address. It is because having the old address is a piece of evidence to show where the goods have been delivered to. It is important to show that to the tax authority and auditors where the goods are delivered to determine the GST/VAT type, etc.
pls look into this. thank you.

Expenses - Ability to search and sort for submitter user
Expenses search and sort.
If you only have access as a user and not full access to the accounts, searching past expenses is a painful experience.
What a painful thing searching for expenses in Xero is.
Can't filter by date range, or search for a particular description, or search by account. And they're in some unfathomable order which you can't sort by date.
Suggestions: Sort by date option to help answer questions like 'did I remember to file that expense 3 months ago'
Filter on date range: 'Show only expenses between January and March last year'.
Search on…

Invoices - Ability to batch print packing slips
Batch print packing slip
We are able to batch print invoices through the awaiting payment page, but having the ability to batch print packing slips would be great. Having to click in and out of invoices to print the packing slip for multiple entries daily takes quite a bit of time. Can this feature be added?

Bills - Improve Contact Matching for Bill Imports
The current bill import functionality relies primarily on contact names for matching, which creates two significant problems:
1. Unreliable Contact Matching
- Contact names can change over time
- Even minor differences (single character) result in creating new duplicate contacts
- No fallback to more reliable identifiers
2. Character Encoding Problems
- Special characters (e.g., apostrophes in names like "O'Connor") cause import failures
- This particularly affects common surnames and business names
Proposed Solution
Implement a hierarchical matching system for contacts during bill imports:
- First attempt: Match by account code
- Second attempt: Match by database ID
- Final fallback: Match by contact name
Benefits
- More reliable…

Inventory - Include supplier’s name and link back to supplier contact list
Ability to have a supplier name and link back to supplier contact list from the inventory.
Purpose: Users can easily have information from which suppliers that they’ve purchased their inventory from, and can easily update any changes within inventory and supplier.
72 votesHi team, while we don't have plans for adding a field for supplier to Inventory items, right now you could run the Payable invoice Detail report to see the purchases of items, and which supplier(s) they've been bought from.
You can also Group/Summarise the report by Item Code or Contact, depending on which you want to see together.

AU Payroll - Option to rehire employees using the same employee record
Xero recommends creating a new, duplicate employee record when a terminated employee returns to the organisation. This can also happen when an employee switches from permanent to casual, as they need to be terminated to pay out annual leave.
Due to HR add-ons that make the issue of setting up a new, duplicate employee in Xero extremely complicated and almost unworkable, I would really like to see an additional workflow in Xero to handle this. When unterminating an employee, I'd like to see Xero asking whether we're doing this to fix something or because we're rehiring the same employee, at…

AU Payroll - Line item breakdown of payslips - YTD
Hi, It would be great if payslips line items match the 'pay template' pay items or alternatively, for pay items that have a YTD amount to be shown on all payslips (with the Nil or $amount for the current pay period as applicable with the YTD) to breakdown 'Other Previous Earnings'.
This will also assist tracking multiple pay items where it can vary each pay cycle, coding and tracking STP rates and categories, YE finalisation and review. Many thanks.35 votes -
Foreign currency - Change exchange rate behaviour
Re: Handling of Mutly-currency/translating foreign currency amounts into the functional currency
Multy currency is currently not fully supported in xero.
A foreign currency transaction should be recorded initially at the rate of exchange at the date of the transaction and then, at each subsequent balance sheet date, foreign currency monetary amounts should be reported using the closing rate.
This is true in xero only for Bank accounts, accounts receivables and payables set in foreign currency but not for other account.
As a result users are required to input periodical manual adjustments at each balance sheet date. We…

Sales - Ability to 'add payment' to multiple invoices at once
This would be a really helpful time saver. When our clients make payments, sometimes one payment can be for 20 odd invoices. Rather than having to find each individual invoice to add the payment (which involves these steps: click on invoices awaiting payment > search for customer > click on last page > click on invoice > add payment > then repeat all steps 20 times); there are tick boxes next to the invoices, with the options to 'print', 'email', 'copy to'... could an option be added to the tick box, to 'add a payment'? Therefore the steps would be…
4 votesHi Emily, it sounds like you could use batch deposit here. This is available from the Awaiting payments list like you noted and will allow you to to record multiple invoices as paid in a single transaction.
It can be useful if you’re banking one deposit for multiple invoices, or when a customer makes a single payment for multiple invoices. 😊
Does this solve what you're after?

Reporting - Ability to show/hide accounts based on balance
I have voted for the idea "Switch Rules - Notes to Financial Accounts" but would like to also propose an idea that may be of benefit if that one is too complex to implement.
Enable a rule that allows an account to be shown/hidden depending on the balance.
For example - if Accounts Receivable is a credit balance then it will display, if it has a negative balance it is hidden.
That means that the Accounts Receivable account could be added to two schedules in the report, but will only show in one, which should align with…6 votesAppreciate you thinking of other ways to solve something, Jessica. With a lot of the reporting teams concentration on elements to redevelop the most vying features from older reports in the new before their removal later this year I want to be open that we don't have this in pour plans at this stage.
We'll start to get a sense of the interest for this here, and let you know if there are any changes.
