  1. Customer Name / Customer Account number - To import invoices the main criteria for the import file is the customer's name. We work with properties where the owner details change on a regular basis and we use the account number (which is also the erf number) to process invoices. Can a it be changed to give users the option to either use the account number or name as the main criteria for the import file instead of just using the account name.

  2. Invoice - Add ability to "Print PDF" button to select which Invoice Branding Theme to print regardless of the Branding Theme assigned to the Invoice.

Use Case: Business has products which are legally required to be sent to a third party. White the invoice being sent to the customer is a full invoice, a reduced version is included for this third party. With current functionality, we have to Edit the Invoice, Change the Branding Theme, Print the PDF and then edit the Invoice and revert the Branding Theme back to our standard.

Unlike the "Invoice Options" dropdown button, I'm suggesting…

  3. I want to be able to group/merge multiple expenses being on-billed into one line on an invoice, even if they're not a tracked expense.

For example, if a contracting company has billed for a fortnight of the contractor's work, but has separated that into two lines, each dealing with one week, on their bill, then the draft that is created when they e-invoice me will have two lines. When I assign these lines to a project and approve the bill, each line shows up as a separate expense to be on-billed. If I am on-billing the full fortnight, I would…

  4. Invoices which have been created directly in Stripe are integrated with Xero so that the invoices import into Xero and then when payments are received, if payment is received via Stripe, this marks the invoice as paid to the bank account in Xero (which will then allow for reconciliation with the payment from Stripe) or if paid by a bank deposit these can be reconciled in Xero and will mark as paid in Stripe also.

  5. Discounts - the ability for the discounts in sales to be allocated to an expense account rather than distorting sales figures. At the moment each line item has the cost of the item then applies say 10% discount equals net which then is allocated to the sales account. I would like the option to allocate discounts to an expense called discounts given so that we can track and show the correct sales figures. By distorting sales figures you could be affecting calculations like WET. other programs allows you to setup discounts given & taken and freight even.

  6. Using the new Contracts form, when verifying a subcontractor, you are now asked to enter the CIS Tax Rate (Gross, 20% or 30%) before you verify the subcontractor.
You cannot save and verify with HMRC unless this field is completed. Without verification, you cannot be certain as to the tax rate.

The error could occur where you choose a rate for the purpose of being able to 'save and verify'. If the verification failed and you required to speak to the contact, or in most cases wait for HMRC to add a subcontractor to the CIS scheme which is currently…

  7. Search Job name when searching for invoices
The search function should be consistent across all search. If you can search for job name or part of job name in Search, you should be able to search for job name in Business/Invoices. This brings consistency to the search function.

  8. Please create a link between Quote >PO > Bill and Sales Invoice

I would really like to have some traceability in few years time where I would be able to see from vendors' bill or sales invoice (by clicking on it) what was ordered, and received from the vendor or quoted and charged to a customer. This would be great for instances when items that had at the time of invoice, for example, 10 years warranty but now the vendor is offering only 6 years.
    Thank you

  13. Having recently started using advanced templates for our invoices, I've discovered that credits applied to invoices don't show separately and instead get added with payments, thus showing as net payments. I believe the credits field is only available for use on advanced statement templates so can the credits field be made available for adcvanced invoice templates please?

That would then give us the ability to display the total amount credited on an invoice and the total paid towards it on separate lines.

    Thanks in advance

Hi Owen, this is already possible. If you're using an Android device you can click the 3 dots to edit the Invoice #, reference, branding, files attached, or currency.

If you're on iOS you'll want to select 'Optional details' within the invoice - see our article here.

  15. Invoice reminders are currently "all or nothing". I dont want to chase my good clients with automated messages from Xero becuse it upsets them but I do want some of my clients to have auto reminders about invoices about to become due and invoices overdue, those who generally are bad payers. In the same way we have email and invoice templates can we have invoice reminder templates and when we raise an invoice be prompted to apply a reminder template (or not). Or can the template for reminders be part of the customer financial details, in the way we can…

  16. This column is useful but could be improved.

As already noted in another existing idea, it would be good if there was a way to indicate whether the discount is per-item or for the line. As it stands, if there is a count, then to emulate a dollar discount on each item, we have to manually calculate the total discount for the line (number * $ discount) to enter the appropriate line value.

The percentage discount option is good also (as it avoids the above problem with specifying an absolute amount). However, it has a different problem in that the…

  17. We only want to pay the supplier/freelancer once our customer has paid for the service.
Some form of link between a purchase invoice and the associated sales invoice to flag that the supplier can now be paid as the corresponding sales invoice was settled.
Trigger something in the Due Date or even set up a payment so that it is easier to make sure we only pay once we have been paid

Hi Neil, just rounding back on your idea here again. We have a separate request for the ability to be notified when an invoice has been paid. Being good to track each part of the idea separately I'll slightly adjust the title of your idea for the first portion and you're welcome to join this other one for any updates around notification of paid invoices. 🙂

  18. Batch payments of Foreign Currency Bills.

    Dear Xero,
Please consider the feature of being able to batch up foreign currency Bills. We often pay multiple invoices in one go, having to reconcile and mark as paid 10 invoices is extremely time consuming.

Hi everyone, thank you for all the interest and we appreciate the needs for those using foreign currency to have more efficiency in how you process these bills for payment. Your feedback and votes here have not gone unnoticed - We have a team that have been doing some ground work in this space and at this time we have beta that we'd like to invite any UK customers to join and feedback to our team on the experience. If you'd like to be a part of this please fill in our form here and we'll be in touch.

We appreciate this idea is farther reaching than UK alone and while the beta is limited to this region for the time being, based on results we will look at expanding this to other places.

We'll keep you updated of further developments here.

  19. There needs to be the option of including the sales tax lookup feature on repeating invoices. All of our subscription based monthly invoices are taxable in states where we have met the Nexus guidelines and therefore we will have to begin manually creating each invoice on a monthly basis which is extremely time consuming. It's hard to believe that this issue has not been raised before.

  20. Most businesses have their employees incur expenses, such as mileage, which are chargeable to their clients. This means that the expenses need to both be added to invoices to clients and paid back to employees. This should really be done by simply getting employees to submit their expenses using, for example Hubdoc. However, at the moment, the systems available allow to to only one of the 2 things described above thus creating a lot of unnecessary admin work and potential inconsistencies between what has been charged to clients and what has been paid to employees.

    In large companies there is…
