  1. Attach Notes to the month column.
    I produce monthly P&L custom reports and add explanatory notes for large variations etc., when I add a new month column, the notes are stuck to the column number rather than the month, eg. I add January, but the variation notes I entered for December are now on the January column and I have to unattach them then reattach them to the correct column.

  2. It would be really helpful to be able to add a note/comment next to contact email addresses. Such as "Use if sending a remittance", "Only use for purchase orders" or "Business owner - only email if urgent". These comments could sit under or beside the email address in the contact's edit section so that it doesn't crowd the side bar of information. That way we don't annoy the customer by sending some emails to the wrong account and we also don't need to keep sticky notes for such specific customer details for each of our many clients.

  3. A report to show who and when the account lock dates were changed.

    If transactions are entered into lock periods this causes Xero to ot match the closed periods where accounts may have been submitted already. Currently there is no way to see who or when the dates were locked.

    Hey community, thanks for all your interest in this idea! It’s clear from the comments that identifying when changes are made, and who has made them would be really helpful.

    This morning we rolled out an update to the financial settings screen for all Xero organisations to enable History & Notes  🎉

    When you add a lock date, it will appear on the History & Notes table below and, for advisers, the History & Notes screen.

    I’ve attached a screenshot so you can see this in action and, for more information, you can check out our Xero Central article Set up your organisation's financial settings.

    Hi community, thanks for getting involved here and letting us know the importance around being able to see the details whenever an invoice is sent from Xero. We understand the importance of this to our customers and our product team are beginning to review this idea to solve needs in this space. We sell software from various vendors and many have rules relating to how their products are sold e.g. "Must include min of one license of X before customer can order any licenses of "Y" OR "Software Maintenance should be ordered with the licenses, otherwise it is ordered as a "Maintenance Upgrade" (with different pricing), and many other examples.

    Updating these each time a new price list is issued must be done manually as Notes cannot be imported or exported making it very tedious.

  6. Currently notes need to be updated manually on the financial statements (as far as I am aware). New accounts need to be added to the respective notes otherwise the figure in the notes will not match the figures in the financial statements.
    I feel that this is inviting error as inevitably there will be times where this process is overlooked.

    it would significantly simplify the process if Xero recognises where a note is connected to a financial statement line item, and then automatically fills in the notes with the same accounts grouped in the financials.

  7. The existing Customer Invoice Report has a "Paid" column. This column shows the payments allocated to an invoice. This column excludes any credits allocated to the invoice.

    The new Receivable Invoice Summary report has a "Payments/Credits" column. This column shows the combined amount of payments AND credits allocated to an invoice.

    I need to be able to run a report of invoices that shows ONLY payments allocated to each invoice. This is a crucial need for us. We need to know what amounts on invoices were paid by customers (i.e. payments) and what amounts on invoices were not paid by…

    Hi everyone, understand the difference between a description only line and what's being asked for in the idea here. 

    This isn't something we have planned at present. 

    We do want to highlight the existing option for anyone interested that could benefit from the option mentioned earlier in the conversation (thanks, Paco) 

    Currently, it is possible to 'description' only lines to an invoice (with no Qty or Price) where you can enter up to 4000 characters worth of detail that could help you signal a note within an invoice to your customer. 

    We will continue to assess ideas in the forum here and let you know if there are any changes surrounding this to share. 

  9. The ability to search bills and filter specifically for a credit notes would be helpful.
    Also, if a credit note has been used the total is $0 - it would be helpful if the total was still shown as paid.

  10. On the Employee tab when an employee moves pay rates it would be good to have a record of the history of changes to see when the rate changed and what all previous rates have been - this would make tracking rate changes and anniversary dates easier.

    So if the rate changes in the pay template then the change is recorded (link) to say notes to keep track of rate changes.

    Just before the end of the year, we rolled out support for ‘Payroll History’ in Australia 🎉

    It includes a history of changes made to the Payroll Settings screen, and to the Employee Record, enabling you to see pay rate changes at a glance.

  11. Apart from utilising the Notes function in client profiles, may I suggest a field be added for short term notes (not needed to be archived) to highlight an alert/instruction/warning for all staff when working on a particular client. As an example: do not lodge Tax returns for ABC until Paid.

  16. I'd like to add a note within a pay run that is visible to "admin only".
    Eg. To justify differences due to staff timesheet errors.
    I don't want the staff to be able to see this note but I'm sick of having notes in external programs.

  17. I have a client who is VERY mobile active. I noticed on the bank reconciliation page that notes are multiple taps away. On a transaction, three dots, then view note, and then one more click to go back. It was be fantastic if the default on the bank reconciliation page on mobile was to show notes first, like the discuss tab is defaulted to show first on the web application. Then I could instruct my client to view the bank reconciliation on their mobile to see what information I am requesting.

  18. Xero should add "Add Note" to Expense Claim just like we have it on Bills to pay. This would be helpful for requesters to provide additional information or make comment on their payment requests. Thank you.

  19. I have a large number of suppliers in Xero and it can be hard to keep track of what each of them do. Whilst I can put them into broad categories /groups, that is not enough. I would like to have a 'notes' field on contacts so that I can put some information about each of them (searchable if possible) as well as some notes as to whether they are good payers (in the case of customers) or other useful information. This will also extend the basic CRM functionality that already exists for customers.

    We recently launched an ability to create notes for the Management report pack by clicking 'Insert content' at the bottom of your page then you'll see 'Enable Add Note' option from there. This feature is available in the newer version of the main report pack which includes, Executive Summary, Profit & Loss, Cash Summary, Balance Sheet, Aged Receivables Summary, and Aged Payable Summary reports. You’ll also be able to annotate any figure in your report and link to a text-block for further information too.
