Reconciliation | Find & match - Filter by outstanding
When a customer pays, could the find and match box show outstanding invoices for that customer instead of all customer outstanding invoices? It would speed up matching the payment
1 voteNot an idea I've seen raised yet, Lisa. Can see how this may be helpful when you have many invoices entered in your org. It's not something we have any plans around at present but we'll track the interest here and share if there's news.

Sales invoice - create credit note without applying
To create a credit note from an invoice without applying it to the invoice.
Currently the only option is ‘create and apply credit’.
We refund first then generate the credit note. So we need to allocate the invoice to the customer receipt, then allocate the repayment to the credit note.5 votesHi team, as mentioned in my last update. In the way credit notes work in Xero today, generally this is a time saving mechanism, so you don't have to take extra steps to apply the credit to the invoice.
However we understand from the feedback here why this doesn't match your workflow. We are continuing to track the interest from community through this idea but don't have any plans for this at present.
Currently, from the Awaiting Payments list, if you don't need to open the invoice, you could use the 'New Credit Note' option.

Project supplier invoices
Scenario - Multiple projects open. If materials are purchased at eg a builders merchants for mutliple projects on one invoice/receipt, it's not possible to allocate the spend to individual projects which is madness. It seems that the total invoice/receipt must be assigned to ONE particular project. When materials are bought, it's often far cheaper to buy them in bulk, hence buying for more than one project at the same time. It should be possible to therefore assign individual lines on the invoice to a particular project (a bit like tracking).
5 votesHi Clare, if you're adding an expense from within a project, it's expected that the expense you're creating is related to the Project you're in. You could create a Bill within the Bills to pay area where you can assign individual lines of your bill to different Projects.

Repeating Invoices - Copy option
Repeating Invoices - ability to copy existing repeating invoice.
Reasons:
- Temporary Discount rewards (Scenario 1 below)
- Previously agreed future price changes
- Similar fee package for another client on a recurring basisScenario 1
- Client signs an ongoing recurring contract Monthly Fee = $1,000 (for illustration purposes):
- Client sends us a referral, so we discount their fee 10% for the next 4 months (update current recurring amount to $900)
- After 4 months client's fee will return to the previously agreed amount (create brand new recurring invoice, keying all the same information in, but removing the discount - post-date for 4 months from now for $1,000)This process would be a lot easier if we could Duplicate the first invoice.
Same is true if we are adjusting service levels at various future dates, but the bulk of the detail will be the same.
Same is true if a different client is getting the exact same services, it would be easier to just copy an existing one.

Projects | Timer start and finish time
Project Timer - it would be great when using the timer for it to automatically enter actual start time and end time into the time entry, rather than just a duration.

Xero Expenses - Multiple images per expense claim
Xero Expenses - In multicurrency expenses there is currently no ability to add more than one image/PDF to an expenses claim.
We have many employees who travel for long periods of time or for certain jobs and need to be able to submit one large expense claim with multiple line items and also provide a photo/PDF of receipts for each of these items. But currently you can only upload one image per expense claim. On top of this there is no ability to set a different currency as the default currency for specifics employees which would be a helpful feature for saving time.

Invoicing - Add optional donation
Allow charities to add an option for customers to make a voluntary donation when paying their invoice.
When making a payment through the pay now link, they would be able to add an additional amount as a donation, if they choose to.

Xero Accounting app | Outstanding invoices view from Dashboard - Due date visibility
The new mobile functionality for Outstanding Invoices adds more steps to being able to see when an invoice is due.
In the past, it was a one button press into Outstanding Invoices and it was easy to see the dates for when all invoices were due.
With the new system, now when you press into Outstanding Invoices, you cannot quickly see the due dates, and it's cumbersome to have to dig into each client by pressing View all invoices, only to then be able to see the due date.
I believe the previous system was far more effective for a quick update of when payments are due on mobile.

3 votesThanks for your feedback on the change in the mobile app, Mike. I've passed this onto the team however do want to be upfront that there's no immediate plans around this atm.
Instead, the 'Sales' tab invoice list screen might help what you're trying to view. This will show all the invoices and due dates in the same screen.

Xero - Get approval from the Danish Business Authority
The Danish Business Authority requires Accounting Systems to be approved by them in order for you to use their system in the country. XERO currently have no plans to get approved by them, I think they should get approval from DBA, and other countries, to enable subsidiaries of Global companies to use the same software as their parent companies.

Reporting - Ability to create own report code structure
what about the possibility of practices creating their own report code structure? with infinite report codes capable of being added? to accommodate flexible reporting structures?
It is truly difficult to automate reporting where a practice does not control the chart structure. this is because clients often create new chart codes because their particular expense doesnt neatly fit the chart options available...so a new expense/revenue/etc account is added and then the report pack grows in size (with similar account types that really should be grouped for reporting) to the point where it is unusable...unless the practice manually maps into a "group" ongoing

201 votesHi everyone, thanks for your feedback here. It’s great to see so much engagement on this idea, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
We understand you’re looking for the ability to create your own report code structures within Xero that'd allow for more detailed and flexible reporting, helping to automate processes and provide clearer insights for your clients.
As noted by others in the idea, you can currently leverage the existing report code mapping functionality. While it doesn't allow for entirely new report codes, you can map multiple chart of account codes to the same report codes to group them for reporting.
To do this in bulk, you can also export your chart of accounts, apply the mapping in a CSV, and then re-import it.
We see the value in providing more customisation in reporting. Right now we have some more codes in the works for the UK - You can stay in the know of new features through our Xero Central Product Releases article and see what's 'coming soon' in the next quarter through The Long and Short of It
We’re committed to helping you deliver the best service to your clients, however we want to be upfront that creating a fully bespoke solution like what's asked here is not in the pipeline. Should our position change around this we'll update you, here.

AU Payroll - Payment summaries - copies or reprints
Payment Summaries in STP - Copies of prior years.
- It would be helpful if we could retrieve copies or make reprints of prior year payments. This is particular helpful where a new client comes on board, and you will not have history on files.

Credit Note - Ability to view contact when in the allocate Credit Balance Screen
When a credit note is approved, the next page that pops up is the Allocate Credit Balance screen. This screen does not state who the customer/supplier is, and when creating multiple credits, it can be hard to recall who each one is to. It would be great to have the Allocate Credit Balance screen displaying the contact of the credit (the reference would also be great, but I have already voted for that one separately).
With the new invoicing re-vamp this would be a great opportunity to increase the information on the Allocate Credit Balance screen too.

Bank Statements - Specify whether Direct/Prepayments/Overpayments on the CSV file
When importing bank statements, it would be very useful if we could select (already in the csv perhaps) whether the payment is to be a Direct Payment, or rather a Prepayment.
We receive almost exclusively prepayments, and I find that when I import the statement, that I cannot select that the income lines should be treated as Prepayment.

Shopify Integration - Confirm Daily payout settlements when importing
Subject: Request for Integration Enhancement of Xero and Shopify based on User Feedback
Dear Product Development Team,
Following my recent discussions with the Xero support team and research around user feedback on the issues I have experienced, I’d like to encourage relaying the integration feedback received from user experiences including my own, particularly regarding the timing differences between Shopify’s daily payout settlement and when the Xero integration pulls the data to create invoices. You can review some of this feedback through the following link: Shopify Xero Integration User Feedback: https://apps.shopify.com/xero/reviews?ratings%5B%5D=1
We’ve observed a gap in understanding the timing of these processes. I suggest working closely with Shopify to determine if there is a status flag for the daily rollup/payout that confirms it as settled for payment. This would help identify the optimal time to pull data via the integration into Xero. Additionally, validation checks could be implemented to ensure order numbers in the invoice match with the daily rollup, improving accuracy.
Currently, the setting up of a mock bank account known as a 'clearing account' to post Shopify invoice transactions serves as a workaround to monitor reconciliation by confirming a zero balance when payouts are matched with bank transfers. However, it seems this workaround is needed due to the transaction settling and timing differences with the Shopify > Xero data transfer. If the team can address the timing issue, I believe the user experience will improve significantly.
I hope this information helps the team troubleshoot and enhance the integration’s usability.
Best regards, Craig Jones-Stanley

Bills - Resize the PDF doc preview
The preview window that pops up when entering new bills is a bit small and you need to almost always zoom in on the pdf to read it.
It would be great to be able to resize the different page components to make things a bit more readible.

Reconciliation - Xero subscription invoice to be added automatically to xero for reconciliation
This should be automatically added to your account, rather than having to save to Xero manually each month
631 votesHi team, wanting to provide an update to you here, we want you to know we understand the efficiency more users would like to have in being able to automate the creation of the Xero subscription invoice inside their Xero org.
To highlight from my last update for UK users this is possible with eInvoicing through the online invoice (My Bills page).
This is still something we're interested in developing in more regions however isn't planned in our roadmap just yet.
When resource opens up for us to be able to pick this work up we will share an update with you all on this here. Thanks for staying engaged and supporting in this idea.
