Foreign currency - Change exchange rate behaviour
Re: Handling of Mutly-currency/translating foreign currency amounts into the functional currency
Multy currency is currently not fully supported in xero.
A foreign currency transaction should be recorded initially at the rate of exchange at the date of the transaction and then, at each subsequent balance sheet date, foreign currency monetary amounts should be reported using the closing rate.
This is true in xero only for Bank accounts, accounts receivables and payables set in foreign currency but not for other account.
As a result users are required to input periodical manual adjustments at each balance sheet date.We ask Xero to take in consideration such issues, to review them and take action now.

foreign currency supplier
Suppliers that have a foreign currency default on their account should show the balance owing to them in that currency and not in gbp. This is very confusing for users who are not familiar with xero or experienced in accounts. Another colleague of mine paid the amount owing on their supplier account thinking it was USD as the supplier invoices in USD only and that is their default currency, however it shows as owing in GBP, therefore the incorrect amount was paid to them?
19 votesThanks for your feedback, Christine. Appreciate how this could help though I want to be upfront that we don't have plans for changing this atm.
It would help in passing on your feedback to the right team to know if there is a specific area in Xero that you'd most commonly view the balance owing to your supplier - e.g would this be within their contact record, or do you run a particular report to view multiple supplier balances at once?

Shortcuts/ aGlow programs
Integrate with Shortcuts Software CRM/POS and aGlow membership software program.
(Beauty industry.)
1 voteHi Emma, we have a developer community that's best to share requests for integrations through. Being open, we don't generally build integrations ourselves however Xero has an open API that enables interested parties to build an integration with us if they choose. I'd recommend approaching aglow to see if this is something they interested in, and you can share our Developer Centre with them that has more information on this process.

Xero Go - viewing attachments without downloading
It would be great to have the functionality for Partners/Accountant to be able to view Xero Go files as you would in a cashbook, ledger or business edition organisation, by seeing a preview of the document without having to download it.
This was the case when Xero Go was initially came out and only an odd invoice needed downloading, now it is all of them, across various clients.
I would take a guess there may be an issue with the app and photos it takes, these are jpeg and should just come up automatically when we view them. A fix would be great!

2 votesHi community, thanks for engaging with us here on Xero Product Ideas. As you'll have recently seen in our communications - We have spent the last year testing and refining Xero Go and after completing a careful review to understand the future of the product, we found greater investment was required to meet the changing customer needs and expectations around the product. As a result, we will be retiring Xero Go on 12 September 2024, and will move this idea to not planned. We really appreciate the support from you all who have been using the app during this free period.

Bills List - Add a Description column
How do I adda column showing the "Description" to the columns of Bills...??
6 votesHi all, while we don't have any plans for adding description as a column to the bills list you may find it a bit easier to view the bill details now using the quick view option.
From the list view you'll see an eye icon that allows you view all details of the bill without having to navigate away from the list screen.

Branding - Feature to create CIS templates with company logo
It would be great if there was a function to add a template including a business logo for the monthly subcontractor CIS payment certificates - like the invoicing templates.

Xero dashboard - See client code in quick search
We often use the quick search feature in Xero, and it is often used just to get the client code for files. It would be incredibly helpful if the client code populated next to the client name in the quick search bar to make it easier to see

Lock Previous Year End Accounts & "Compare with" Custom Dates
When changing the year end for a client, it would be nice if previous year's could be locked in dates, fixed assets, etc.
Once the year end is changed, it seems to amend the dates for the previous year in all reports too, if (for example) the new year end means the current "year" runs to 13+ months (such as when the year end is extended): it's hard to get the comparative period in any popular reports to show the previous year as it was filed.
And especially in the TB, I can't get it to show a period for more than a year.
It seems this could be fixed either with customisable comparative periods, or by locking dates post-filing? (Which would help with the Fixed Asset issues too). When changing the year end for a client, it would be nice if previous year's could be locked in dates, fixed assets, etc.

Find & Recode - Ability to change multiple accounts at once
It would be great if we could have an option to use find & recode to change to several accounts at the same time (similar to cash coding), rather than having to use the function over again each time. For example, if a client codes many transactions to general expenses, it would be useful to have a single screen where you can change the coding, with a column for "Current Account" and a second column for "New Account".

Foreign Currency - Ability to turn off
One day I added a foreign currency because I needed the rate for a single transaction, but now all of the detail reports show three foreign exchange columns checked all the time, when I don't need them and don't want them. There is no way to turn off foreign exchange organization wide, nor to get rid of the columns. I am aware that I can make custom reports for account transactions, but the fact is that I use right click to open the account detail in a new tab from an existing report such as a balance sheet or income statement. This means that all day long I have to spend time clicking 6 columns off every single time I open a report (there are three more checked by default that are totally useless). That adds up to a fair bit of time, as I work in Xero most of the day, every day.

Exchange rates - More than 6 decimal places
Exchange Rate - Allow more than 6 decimal places.
For conversions from smaller currencies (e.g. 1 KRW = 0.00071 USD), users need the ability to place more than 6 decimal places in order to get the exact currency conversion for the transaction. QuickBooks allows this so I don't see why Xero can't implement it as well.
Xero Central suggested that I make adjustment entries in my Realised Currency Gains account and I find it ridiculous to have to do it than just being allowed to input exact numbers in my original transactions.

User role - Ability to assign specific email address.
Email allocation to different tasks for Xero-I think it would be beneficial to be able to allocate a different email address for a number of tasks, ie Invoices / statements have one, another for quotes and suppliers ie bills. I have a client that doesn't wish to receive every email for every aspect of the business as its not part of her role. Do you think this would be possible?

Reports - showing receipts (credits), which matches bankings/receipts & can be filtered by date.
Report similar to Approved_sentand_paid which shows receipts (Payments & credit) for a specified week and not including previous part payments in the Payment and credits collum. The report should match our banking / receipts for that specific week including part payments.

Xero - Integrate Xero with Dance Studio Pro
Would love to see an integration of Dance Studio Pro into Xero. Invoicing for dance studio in Xero is not sufficient and would love to have the capabilities of the Dance program integrated into Xero.

Multicurrency - Change behaviour of Unrealised Gains/Losses with Bank Accounts
Xero has a gap in handling Fx gains/losses.
It is great at both Realised and Unrealised on bills and invoices but it drops the ball on Cash at Bank. It treats it all as Unrealised, which is where the flaw is.You can have an empty currency bank account which has a residual functional currency balance and has movements on the TB every month due to revaluation. This is clearly nonsense.
I have also been told to ignore the exposure column on the Fx report as it is meaningless. For Fx gains/losses Cash is a document in exactly the same way that Bills & Invoices are. I.e. each cent comes into Xero at a functional value and leaves at a functional value.
So there should be a Realised Gain/Loss on the cash movement just as there is for the bill being settled.
This is currently being carried in Xero as Unrealised which is incorrect accounting.
There is no error in the total for Gains/Losses but the split is incorrect. We used to calculate the amounts as part of the Revaluation process using a FIFO principle.
I.e. the remaining balance was matched with the latest receipts and the gain/loss on those was recorded as Unrealised. It was trivial to calculate the Realised as the balancing figure from calculating the total applicable Gains/Losses.I don't know how you would make this calculation within Xero.

Organisation details - Shareholder register
It will be good idea if Xero got facility to have a share holder register (like fixed asset register) with the control account in Equity area or facility to upload share holder details, address, number shares issued, dividends due and paid. currently we maintain this register in excel which is an additional thing to maintain.

Multicurrency - Enable CNH currency
Add CNH.
Ability to add CNH currency which is offshore RMB traded outside of China.
20 votesThank you for rounding back, Scott. I’ve changed your idea slightly here, so it’s sounded more CNH currency instead of bank feeds. This is because, before bank feeds for CNH can be implemented, CNH currency needs to be enabled first.
In saying that, we’ll keep an eye on this idea to gauge the interest from the community here :)

Bills - Assign tracking category for partial bill payment
A single bill is entered for two projects (tracking categories). In the Profit & Loss statement, it is showing the correct amount for Project 1 and Project 2. However, when I make a partial payment to this supplier, I am unable to allocate it to the particular project. Xero is automatically assigning it, which is resulting in incorrect output.
If you can add a popup for Bill Payment "tracking category", it will be a great help for the users1 vote -
mandate - Show mandate status and progress etc.
Show mandate status and progress: In Sage one of the Customer fields is their mandate status. You can see when the mandate was sent, whether it has been submitted, is being processed, is now active or has been cancelled. These are crucial for us. We are finding it very hard to get even a couple of mandates set up due to the way that first invoices are processed (on their invoice date rather than as soon after as practical). Then we have no way of knowing whether a mandate has been sent or is being responded to. It's guesswork. In Sage this was so much easier.
