Selecting different earnings rates is already a feature in "total hours" so it doesn't make sense to not having it also in "start and end times" option in timesheets. This is unnecessarily creating more work for the approver.

I just noticed a comment made that this has been on the "request" list for THREE years??

Xero Me App - needs building out a lot more, to allow pay earnings items to be selected by employees e.g. Ord Time (S-F) times, Unpaid lunch break (S-F times), Paid Rest Break (S-F times), Overtime (S-F times), paid allowances. It is barely adequate if used in its correct form, to be a record kept and meet Fairwork requirements.

Also the Xero Me App needs to have a demo model for bookkeepers to have access to in order to provide adequate instructions to their clients in how to use it.

'Start and finish hours' timesheets are best suited to those of our staff who work shifts according to rosters. This minimises employee time entry errors and makes checking by approvers much easier as they can match start and finish times in the timesheets to the roster (manually unfortunately as our CRM is not integrated with XERO). However, without the ability in 'start and finish hours' timesheets to select an earnings rate category (like one can do in total hours worked timesheets), all hours including hours worked on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays as well as on Monday to Friday at penalty rates, are submitted as Monday to Friday hours at ordinary rates. Approvers or payroll admin have to manually reallocate all weekend, public holiday and penalty rate work to the correct earnings rate category Would be great if employees were able to select different earnings categories in 'start and finish hours' timesheets to avoid all the additional reallocation work approvers and payroll admin have to do.

How have people been requesting this for at least THREE YEARS and you still haven’t implemented it Xero??? We are paying through the nose for this app and you are taking us for a ride. FIX IT NOW PLEASE! Have started researching alternative software. A competitor will cut your lunch if you don’t get on top of these requests.

To enable employees to add quantities for ordinary hours PLUS quantities for bonus line items in their timesheets - this functionality was previously available. Employees previously were able to be able to submit timesheets with both ordinary hours PLUS bonuses. Now we have to manually enter bonuses.

Xero have added such a great feature with start stop but this is useless to us as they have taken away categories for this option.
Threfore this feature will be useless to a lot of people who do costing in timesheets/ GRRRR

Yes, this would reduce the manual work to reallocate hours before approving the timesheets.

To not have the option to choose different pay items in the start-end time timesheet format is a complete failure. This should be mandatory!! Please fix this ASAP!

It's important that we can see when the team start and finish as each project is different and it's critical that this is reflected in the timesheets. And having the notes section enables them to put in where they worked and why they've worked less or more hours than anticipated. The total hours timesheet doesn't have this option. A bit disappointing.

I agree employees need to be able to select different pay items.I wont be having employees use xero me until this option is available.

it is very important to enable different rates with the start/stop function - Hospitality has different rates for the different hours of the day and a Staff member can work over more that one rate per day - eg hours before 6am are different to the day shift times, weekends different again, late nights different times and rates again.
even enabling the templates function for staff members would be helpful - as per xero central -

• You can only create templates using Total hours worked timesheets in the web version of Xero Me. You can’t access templates from your mobile app or create them from start and end times timesheets.

I can not use Xero Me Timesheets at all without this function. All of my employees work on variable rates depending on tasks assigned. i.e. someone might be an assistant on project X and a designer on project Y.

It's a backwards step in the timesheet function, and it's over a year old. Obviously people are raising it as an issue over and over again.
It seems like Xero thinks this is a 'product idea' rather than a serious functionality problem that needs fixing. I guess it's not on the agenda if it's being hand-balled to boards like this to be resolved.

That is really frustrating that Xero would not allow this functionality!!!! Whoever changed the timesheets to be able to enter start and finish times and then not be able to select different payroll categories is absolutely absurd they need the sack seriously that is just rediculous!!!

For employees on a wage covered by an award (e.g. SCHADS), they are meant to receive a reportable per-km allowance for mileage (see attached), rather than being compensated via an expense claim, such as an office worker would. It would definitely be useful for Xero to offer both. I currently have to manually add allowances each week for sleepover allowance and motor vehicle use, which is very frustrating.

Hi @Jenny Peet. I believe Xero wont add mileage claims to timesheets because this is already a feature in Xero Expenses. If you purchase the Xero expenses add-on the mileage claim is really easy to use :) The option also appears in the Xero Me app once you have Xero Expenses

Related to this - I would like the ability for employees to enter mileage claims (in km) in their timesheets. Given it's not an hourly rate it doesn't let them enter this and I have to do it manually

Please automate this more. If an employee is full time and they work 8 days Mon-Thurs and 6 on Friday you should be able to tell the system what are ordinary hours and then from there any additional hours should be allocated to the 'correct' overtime rate. The employee should not be selecting what overtime rate. They ALWAYS get it wrong...
