Ridiculous Xero have not yet implemented this yet- my gut feeling is the back end of the software has been designed poorly. Yet again , Xero have no concept of how SMEs operate. Pathetic.

Invoice only - unable to carry out below tasks essential to my role (I was able to this on previous system), can only have access to the below if I can see the bank which the business owner does not want.

Would be helpful for basic functions to be more accessible and/or to be able to customise user permissions based on companies own set up

Run reports (eg. Suggested payments, debtors etc)
Send reminders when payments are due (not automated)
Send remits in batch payments (we make the majority of payments on BACs runs)
Advance postings on sales invoice
Delete incorrectly posted payments/receipts
Send statements in bulk as part of a month end procedure.

This should be a Priority. Businesses on XERO may start small and grow over time, and then will be looking at more segregation of duties. XERO should be supporting this growth instead of stifling it. Businesses will look elsewhere for software which can accommodate their needs.

We have just moved our sales ledger over to Xero from a stand alone system and dismayed that our credit control team cannot have singular access to the one receivable bank account without granting overall permission to view other areas of sensitive financial information and other bank accounts.

Xero - stop trying to add the bells and whistles before getting the basics fit for purpose.

So nearly 4 years on since this issue was raised (see comments from 2022) and still nothing.
Obviously this is not a priority for Xero.
Is there a time-frame to get this implemented???

How is it seen to be an initial set up that is acceptable that permissions cannot remove the empluyee to see every day banking payments in and out.

it seems a no brainer that you would not want all members of staff to see what paymetns are made for all business expenses. Staff do not stay loyal and use this to their advantage when they move to other companies, in a small industry in which we operate this freedom of wages information just alone is detrimental.

Still no progress. Reconcile the petty cash account - free to see the balances, transactions of every account in the business. Including staff pay. Director's pension payments.

I think this is really important issue, we need to be able to limit who can view bank transactions and bank balances, please look at this with great urgency!!

Posting on this again, to see if there has been any further consideration to inventory taking a higher priority than access to all bank accounts to any user with the relevant permissions and no way to manage this.
If it is going to take longer to develop, then start on it sooner! :)

I'd like my manager to be able to input and reconcile transaction in ONE bank account only. We have a checking account for small purchases and cash deposits that is separate from my primary operating and savings accounts. the small account is often used by my office manager to make small purchases and cash deposits.

We need a way of giving permissions to Users but with being able to stop them viewing bank account balances/transactions

Provide increased ability to control who can view sensitive financial data under standard user access. There needs to be increased delineation in the activities/access available under standard access. This would help when a user needs more access than invoice only, but less than full access to standard features (e.g. can add products, but cannot view bank accounts).

To be able to choose what bank accounts the users can have, we have multiple accounts for different things as well as reserves which some employees don't need to see that information. Having the option to tailor every part of the user log ins would be useful, the all or nothing approach isn't very helpful.

Some users, including the view only users don't need to see anything about the bank accounts. When selecting what some users can access, the bank account in particular should always have a tick box to be able to not tick, most others should be able to be toggled also.
I have one user I would like to allow access to view only customer details and products & serves only but my only option is to give them standard access because products & services isn't shown on invoice only mode.

Hi All, with everyone struggling with Xero's user rolls I HIGHLY recommend contacting Conrtol-C. I met with Campbell Green, the founder, over a video meeting and WOW!! I am really excited to use them. They can possibly help with any issues you are having with the user rolls.

They are even able to sync my Till data to my Xero. I think it is definitely worth a try to reach out to them and see if it will be affordable for you as it was for me to help.

And a plus is that they do a backup of your accounting software which means you have peace of mind knowing you will never loose all your information.

Given the technology evolution and improvements enjoyed over the last 12 years I thought it fitting to plug the latest Xero response into AI (something else that was able to be developed considerably over the last 12 years) - This is how ChatGpt acknowledged the last Xero response - It’s the AI’s words, not mine, so maybe a little bit mean and gets off-point but hopefully raises a smile while we enjoy all the other benefits of Xero but wait for this desired upgrade…
Maybe for extra efficiency we should use AI to contribute our future requests and comments :) :) :) 😊 …

Improve all user role. Not only en bank. Is very important in financial information (reports) too. Remember that Xero work with administrative staff, accountant, owners. Is very importan to fix scope of diffents roles.

restricted bank access is far more important than reporting and inventory - will have to seriously consider moving all our clients as a result to software that is fit for purpose
